4 Quadrants
Ken Wilber suggests that we can look at four aspects of any aspect of human experience or "holon." By looking at our experiences through all four of these four perspectives, we both gain greater insight into their totality/nature, and avoid falling into the more common traps of believing that the perspective we are naturally drawn to is the "one right" perspective.
In brief summary, each and every experience we have as human beings can be understood through 4 perspectives, consisting of a matrix of two binary choices: interior/exterior vs. individual/group. These four quadrants are a summary of a data search across various developmental and evolutionary fields. Wilber examined over two hundred developmental sequences recognized by various branches of human knowledge -- ranging from stellar physics to molecular biology, from anthropology to linguistics, from developmental psychology to ethical orientations, from cultural hermeneutics to contemplative endeavors -- taken from both Eastern and Western disciplines, and including premodern, modern, and postmodern sources. Each of the quadrants might more accurately be constructed as a branching tree, and not a simple straight line, indicating the rich variation within each grade and clade (each level and type). Each quadrant includes both hierarchies (or clear gradations) and heterarchies (or pluralistic and equivalent unfoldings within a given grade). The Left Hand is what the holon looks like from within. The Right Hand is what the same holon looks like from without. Interior and exterior, consciousness and form, subjective and objective. The effects of understanding the Four Quadrants model are manifold. First, we can notice that most disciplines of arts and science specialize and/or categorize experience exclusively from one perspective of the Four Quadrants. For example, Freudians and the…...

Otherwise, the first task will remain scheduled to start at 8 AM even if the options and base calendar are changed. Please note the defaults for the Standard calendar. Also note the changes you can make to the standard calendar. The emphasis must be made that this calendar is primarily for the entire project. Again it is best not to change these......

Quadrants in Business

...(employee) quadrant might say, “I am looking for a safe, secure job with a good pay and excellent benefits. The S (self-employed) quadrant might say, “My rate is $75 per hour,” or “My normal commission rate is six percent of the total price.” A person from the B (business owner) quadrant might say, “I’m looking for a new president to run my company.” Someone operating out of the I (investor) quadrant might say, “Is my cash flow based on the internal rate of return or net rate of return?” Each quadrant has core differences of its own which define what each of quadrant is about. The E (employee) quadrant is based on certainty and security. If a formal and official agreement is made between an employee and employer, the employee finds comfort in believing that they are entitled to additional rewards or assured extras. The mindset of an employee is controlled by the emotion of fear, causing them to set standards for themselves and posing statements such as , “I’ll give you this if you promise to give me that in return. “ Whereas the S (self employed) quadrant rely completely on themselves and are often viewed as fiercely independent souls. The self employed individuals are known to be people who prefer being the ones who determine how much they earn and what can/should be achieved. They are best described as the do-it-yourselfers. The core difference of the B (business owner) quadrant is that this quadrant reaches success by the ownership of a system. This quadrant requires......

There are many different groups that oppose the idea of keeping the church and state separate, but America is a very diverse country filled with people of different races and who have many different religions and beliefs. I believe that by keeping the church and state separate when dealing with education is beneficial. Writing Assignment 4 The separation of church and state, is the concept to keep religions out of government. It was made to keep the government neutral and so no national religion would ever be established. Over the years is has been a very heated issue. As this issue grows, America grows in population, our nation is the only country where people from many different backgrounds and cultures come together, and with them come all their different religions. History Our nation was started because people craved freedom of religion. Many Pilgrims fled from Great Britain to acquire freedom of religion, because at that time Great Britain had a national religion. It was so important to them to have religious freedom that they gave up all they had. They gave up the security of staying in Great Britain and they travelled to the unknown. Many of them died in the first year they were here. They made a sacrifice to better the lives of their children and everyone......

...Analysis 4 Steven Young ITT-Tech Analysis 4 As per the president and the vice president of this company, I would recommend the following servers. I think first and foremost should be a Threat management server. The work that is being done is more than likely proprietary. There for the threat of a hacker needs to be MOST important. A print server so that the employees have a center location for printing. Also the amount of printing with GEO pictures could lag a server if this processes was to be on a shared with another service. The remote access server allows users to gain access to files and print services on the LAN from a remote location. For example, a user who works from home or being in the field using any Broadband connection will connect into the remote access server to access files, etc. A file server. This server will store and backup all of the employee’s files. An email server. An email server is a good idea for this type of company. Really any company for anti-virus redundancy. Setup properly, you can keep a few more viruses from getting through. A web server. As a cache to improve performance. Most of DNS queries are shared among lots of computers, if they are cached on our DNS server, clients don't need to connect to internet to resolve it, and a much faster LAN connection will do it. Also we want to name some computers that are only available in the LAN (i.e. on our network, you can't access then from the internet). An app server. ......

...Pythagorean Quadratic Melissa Hernandez MAT221: Introduction to Algebra Instructor Srabasti Dutta August 4, 2014 Pythagorean Quadratic Ever since I can remember when I was a little girl full of curiosity, I enjoyed the thought of finding a buried treasure and thus set out on treasure hunts with my sisters. Depending on how big your imagination is, you can take yourself to exotic locations, around town, or in your very own backyard. Finding buried treasures is a fun activity to do on your own or in a group. In this activity, we will be finding a buried treasure near Castle Rock with Ahmed and Vanessa. The assignment reads; Buried treasure. Ahmed has half of a treasure map, which indicates that the treasure is buried in the desert 2x + 6 paces from Castle Rock. Vanessa has the other half of the map. Her half indicates that to find the treasure, one must get to Castle Rock, walk x paces to the north, and then walk 2x + 4 paces to the east. If they share their information, then they can find x and save a lot of digging. What is x? (Dugopolski, 2012, p. 371) In this problem, we will use the Pythagorean Theorem which says that when a triangle has a right angle of 90 degrees, and squares are made on each of the three sides, then the biggest square has the exact same area as the other two squares put together. The Pythagorean Theorem can be written as: a^2 + b^2 = c^2 with “c” being the longest side or otherwise called the hypotenuse of the triangle, and “a” and “b” are the...

The Cashflow Quadrant

...Experiment 4: Isolation of Individual Colonies For the experiment, isolation of individual colonies I was allowed to compare enriched, complex, and synthetic media. Enriched media contains some important growth factors necessary for growth of specific organisms or an organism that has a complex nutritional requirement. This "growth factor" contains vitamins, amino acids, blood components, or carbon sources. Enriched media is used to harvest as many different types of microbes as are present in a specimen. These are commonly used for blood cultures. Complex media is a mixture of proteins and extracts in which the exact amount of a particle amino acid, sugar, or other nutrients is not known. These are used for growing hetrotrphic organisms. Examples of hetrotrophic organisms include fungi, protozoa, and animals. Synthetic media is also known as “chemically defined” media. The exact amount of pure chemicals that are used to formulate the media are known. This is used in in vitro cell culture for humans and animals. Selective and differential media were examined as well. Selective media allows for selection of a particular microorganissm that may be present in a mixed culture. This contains a compound that enhances the growth of the desired organism or inhibits growth of competing organisms. Selective media contains antimicrobial substances or dyes to inhibit unwanted organisms from growing. These are frequently used to test antibiotic resistance. For example, if you are......

...at random? It is important to choose your sample areas at random because you want every quadrat to have an equal chance of being selected. The selection of one location should also not influence which is selected next. This should avoid bias. It is important to do this so that it gives you a more accurate population total. (Otherwise you may over or under estimate) 3. Do you think this is a convenient method for estimating population size? Explain your answer. Yes I do think that this is a convenient method of estimating population size because it did not take much time, there are not many required materials, and the calculations are simple. It would be tedious, time consuming, and expensive to count the entire population area. 4. What do you think provides a more accurate estimation of population size: your numbers or the class numbers? Explain. I think that using the class average number of dandelions per quadrat should provide a more accurate total population of dandelions in the study area because in most cases, you want to collect as many randomly selected samples as possible (to increase the proportion of the total population sampled). This accuracy of an estimate increases with the number of samples taken. This is because the number of dandelions found in any given sample will vary from the number found in other samples. By collecting numerous samples, the effect of these variations can be averaged out. 5. Describe the type of animal population that...
