Disadvantage of Media There are different types of disadvantage

-------------------------------------------------
Structure[edit]
A DA usually has four key elements. These four elements are not always necessary depending on the type of disadvantage run, and some are often combined into a single piece of evidence. A Unique Link card, for example, will include both a description of the status quo and the plan's effect on it. A traditional threshold DA, however, has a structure as follows:
Uniqueness[edit]
Uniqueness shows why the Impacts have not occurred yet or to a substantial extent and will uniquely occur with the adoption of either the Affirmative's plan or the Negative's counterplan.
Example: If the negative team argues that the affirmative plan will result in nuclear proliferation, it would also argue that the status quo will avoid nuclear proliferation. If the Affirmative claims that nuclear proliferation is already occurring, the negative team could argue that adoption of the plan would result in a unique increase in nuclear proliferation. If the plan causes no net change in the rate of nuclear proliferation, the disadvantage is not unique to the plan, and therefore not relevant.
External links[edit]
For the disadvantage to have relevance in the round, the negative team must show that the affirmative plan causes the disadvantage that is claimed. If the DA stated that the plan takes money from the government, and the…...

In the first place, the use of social media enables easy access to the obtainable information. Advantages of Mass Media

...ADVANTAGES OF MASS MEDIA Mass media, such as the Internet, social networking, have been integrated into people’s lives. In fact, researches have shown that the number of adults and teenagers relying on mass media to gather information or communicate with one another has increased exponentially in the last few years.  There have been many debates on whether mass media have a positive or negative effect on our lives. Many people argue that the socializing benefits of media, the fact that distance is no longer an insurmountable issue, and the possibility of sharing information globally proves how mass media have changed our lives for the better. However, the other side of the argument states that isolation, increased risks and the loss of critical thinking are the main consequences that media have had on our lives, changing them for the worse. Paradoxically, both arguments are true as the reality lies in between them. The effect that mass media has had on socialization is one of the most controversial and debated effects of mass media. Social networks are one example of mass media communication which has had a great impact on our society; Facebook alone has reached more than 500 million users, 65% of whom are teenagers. The reason for this is that there virtual platforms offer the so called “third space” (outside of the home and school), which psychologists claim to be indispensible to teenagers in order to socialize and build up their personality. The opportunity social......

Advantages F Social Media

...There are lots of advantages to the social media world. We , I believe have taken for granted the use of social media because of the convenience and the speed of which we can put the internet to work for us. Some of the advantages are the websites such as face book, twitter and you tube, for example. On these sites we can find lost friend or family, we can catch up on what is happening around the world and all the gossip also. It is easy to find and research any and everything with the many search engines we have at our fingertips. Also the greatest advantage I have found is with social media is to call attention to some matters that otherwise may never have gotten any attention whatsoever. With all these advantages also comes the disadvantages of when we are researching for information when also have to verify the sources in which the information is coming from, make sure that the author is creditable and that the information isnt from a source such as wikiencyclopedia, which anyone can write and post information which can be edited and changed by others without having any creditablility at all. I believe also that social media is a disadvantage to the kids these days in ways that, they don’t have to go to a library and actually look and read a book to get the information for say a book report, if they want a phone number they can just google it, never having to actually use their brain to remember the alphabet in the phone book for example. I truly like the internet but......

Many people are now living in relief camps and temporary shelters. There has been no fresh rainfall today, but with virtually all phone lines down in the main city of Srinagar and roads cut off, the exact scale of the disaster is still unclear. No rain is expected in Jammu today, but light showers are likely in Srinagar. There has been no electricity in many areas for hours now all over the state including Srinagar. Phone lines are down and people have reported that they have been unable to contact stranded families since last night. Helplines and even social media sites are flooded with SOS messages giving details of families awaiting rescue. The state was battered by heavy rain for six days which caused major rivers and streams to overflow. As rain let up yesterday, rescue operations intensified. An Indian Air Force's Flight Lieutenant KS Lamba said the high terrain has made rescue operations tougher. "We have experienced pilots to complete this task. We have the immediate relief materials with us which is required as of now. We have medicines, blankets, water and utensils needed etc," he said. The Army has deployed 184 columns (75-100 personnel each) while IAF has deployed 29 planes and helicopters. Over 13,000 people have been rescued from various areas by the Army and the IAF. Advantage and Desadvantage of Media

...Media Literacy Project medialiteracyproject.org Introduction to Media Literacy Media literacy is a set of skills that anyone can learn. Just as literacy is the ability to read and write, media literacy refers to the ability to access, analyze, evaluate and create media messages of all kinds. These are essential skills in today's world. Today, many people get most of their information through complex combinations of text, images and sounds. We need to be able to navigate this complex media environment, to make sense of the media messages that bombard us every day, and to express ourselves using a variety of media tools and technologies. Media literate youth and adults are better able to decipher the complex messages we receive from television, radio, newspapers, magazines, books, billboards, signs, packaging, marketing materials, video games, recorded music, the Internet and other forms of media. They can understand how these media messages are constructed, and discover how they create meaning – usually in ways hidden beneath the surface. People who are media literate can also create their own media, becoming active participants in our media culture. Media literacy skills can help children, youth and adults: • Understand how media messages create meaning • Identify who created a particular media message • Recognize what the media maker wants us to believe or do • Name the "tools of persuasion" used • Recognize bias, spin, misinformation and lies • Discover the part of the......

Advantages and Disadvantages of Media

...Social media can actually do more harm than good Today, social media is everywhere. Playing a big role in people’s life, social media has made interactions among people easier. Although social media is so easy to use, it brings us many problems as well. In other words, social media has been an essential means of communication, but it can be harmful intentionally or unintentionally. Since we now live in this modern internet society, social media users should think twice before publicizing their posts on the internet. The website called CyberBullyHotline indicates that 4500 kids commit suicide each year due to cyber bullying. An example of unintentional harm with social media is seen in Sue Scheff’s recent writing about “accidental” cyberbullying for the Huffington Post. She describes incidents where teens say things to others, usually online, that are not intended to be hurtful, but are experienced as such. Even though it is not our objective, our words can be taken out of context by others when they are read and regurgitated, amplifying our digital footprint. This can happen offline as well, of course, but technology certainly makes it easier to obscure actual intent. Many of us know from experience that social media often leads to more frequent misunderstandings as communication occurs without important facial expressions, vocal intonations, or other interpretive behavioral cues that provide color and context to what is being conveyed. I agree that it is common for......

Advantages & Disadvantages of Social Media

...study in June 2013 from the University of Michigan found that it was the students with narcissistic tendencies who posted most often, using social media in different ways to boost their egos and control other people’s perceptions of them – something that could have a dangerous impact on young girls at the very time when they have tremendous developmental changes taking place. Another study, from Flinders University in Australia, found that the amount of time teenage girls spend online was associated with low self-esteem and dissatisfaction with their body image (although cause and effect cannot be determined). In interviewing more than 1,000 high-school girls, they found that social media intensified conversations about appearance. And as these conversations involved their peers, they were also more influential in the girls’ lives. Even though 80% of the girls in the survey were of normal weight, almost half of them (46%) reported being dissatisfied with their body size. This evidence may suggest that, for many youngsters, their worries around body image aren’t actually connected with being overweight, but about body shape or concerns with not measuring up to unrealistic, celebrity-driven ‘norms’ that are, in truth, anything but normal. Research from Stanford University suggests that too much ‘screen time’ and constant social media juggling and multitasking are linked with negative feelings and experiences: feeling less socially adequate, for example, and having friends......

If external costs exist, such as pollution, the producer may choose to produce more of the product than would be produced if the producer were required to pay all associated environmental costs. Because responsibility or consequence for self-directed action lies partly outside the self, an element of externalization is involved. If there are external benefits, such as in public safety, less of the good may be produced than would be the case if the producer were to receive payment for the external benefits to others. However, globally human-made pollutants from combustion, construction, mining, agriculture and warfare are increasingly significant in the air pollution equation.[20] Motor vehicle emissions are one of the leading causes of air pollution.[21][22][23] China, United States, Russia, India[24] Mexico, and Japan are the world leaders in air pollution emissions.
