* Mission: Your team was recently sent to a village named Dukan in Kurdistan to train Iraqi intelligence officers. All you know about the village is that the villagers belong to three (stratified) tribes from the region and are further organized into smaller sub-tribes or clans according to their lineage. Typically, older men or patriarchs from the tribes who are considered wise and honorable are tribal leaders.
The morning after you arrived, an IED detonates in the village, killing 4 villagers and injuring 15. Your tasks now are to work with the Iraqi Intel Officers you will train to find out information about who made and planted the IED and detain suspects. The Intel Officers you are to train are not from this region and can only help you by translating and giving you basic advice on Iraqi norms. The only way to get information on those involved in the bombing is by talking to people from the village. Because of the tight social network in the area, some of the villagers very likely know who was involved.
The villagers are reluctant to talk to you and give you information. They are cautious to talk to outsiders and fear there will be a backlash from the villagers if they speak out and give information. One of the Iraqi soldiers tells you that the only way Iraqis in these villages will talk to outsiders is if leaders allow them or encourage them. Your team realizes that they need to quickly identify the leaders in the village and help get their support in the investigation.
1. How are power and authority established in this village?
2. How does this political structure differ from that of the US?
3. How might this affect the mission?
4. What strategies can you use to lessen this affect?
5. Using what you know about the political structure of this village, what would be the best plan of action for obtaining information about the…...

...Mission and Vision Statement of J.C. Penney Brooke Hall BMGT 495 Strategic Management Professor Swindell November 1, 2013 Table of Contents Introduction 3 Mission Statement 3 Vision Statement 4 JCP’s Strengths 5 JCP’s Challenges 5 Future Goals and Objectives 6 Recommendations 7 References: 8 Introduction Founded in 1902, by James Cash Penney in Kemmerer, Wyoming, JCP has witnessed dramatic changes and overhauls with the arrival of each CEO. Beginning in 2013, JCP again started fresh with the rehiring of retired CEO Myron Ullman who has taken revolutionary steps to improve the company’s performance and pricing structure (Berfield, 2013). Under the leadership of Ullman, JCP is working to rid itself of its former image of inadequate products, at least one price promotion per day, and high employee turnover, and instead focusing on fair pricing for all, interest based marketing, and spotlighting their exclusive brands in comparison to their competitors. Mission Statement According to Daft (2011), having a clear mission and vision for the future as well as a strategy for implementation are key components of accomplishing any goals within an organization. JCP’s mission is simple and straight to the point, “To drive Sales and Profit growth by ensuring our Customer and Associates always know they’re first in our Stores by what We do!” (JCPJline, 2011). As noted in our text, a mission statement serves as both a description of a company’s purpose, while......

The new proposed mission statement will be as follows: GM will become an industry leader, not a follower. To regain lost market share that was lost to foreign competition, and once again be the auto industry leader in sales and market share in today’s global market. Values Statement The auto industry just like the global economy is going through tremendous change, due to rising fuel prices, and environmental worries, such as global warming. Mission

...Garcia, the plot of the story is about a young lieutenant in the military by the name of Rowan. He is tasked with delivering a message to Garcia, and even though he does not know who Garcia is or where he is to be located, Rowan accepts the task without so much as fear or hesitation. This correlates with the work environment due to the fact a subordinate who can accomplish a task without question or falter is very well respected and trusted in the workplace as a smart, confident individual. Mission accomplishment is defined by being assigned a task and fulfilling it in a timely manner, to the best of your ability, and without having to be constantly reminded to do so every so often. If appointed to do a task do not place justification on a task not being completed, nor try to postponing tactics to delay the assignment from completion. Instead of questioning every task, use resources within reach to deliver the assignment before having to be explained as to how to complete it. Another aspect of mission accomplishment is team work, without team work several tasks will be futile without assistance from co-workers and chaos will ensue in the unit and workforce. There are several ways to promote teamwork, a key part of that is communication within the team and team leaders. Without communication the employees will become complacent and the employees will begin to question the result of their work if not given a big picture of the scenario. Another important part of team work is......

...Dear Mom and Dad, I’d like to say something cute and catchy here…but instead, I’ll just get to the point of why I’m sending you this message.   Danielle and I will be going on our 1st mission trip that will travel to Ecuador on November 2nd, 2013 to invest into the lives of children and families living in abject poverty. God has touched our hearts and opened our eyes to the harsh realities and living conditions that no child should ever have to endure.  Yet, they do.  The children that we will be caring for ‘endure’ in the most heinous and dire circumstances.  On this trip, we will be partnering with two organizations that are on the front lines caring for children and families in need. The first half of our trip will be spent at Nuevos Amigos. Our church, RiverTree Christian Church, has recently assumed the operational responsibilities of Nuevos Amigos, a school located just outside of the capital city of Quito, Ecuador. It's mission is to operate a school that seeks to walk hand in hand with families to ensure that children receive spiritual guidance, quality education, and loving care that complement a healthy home environment. The other half of our time will be spent serving one of the churches and child development projects that our church helped start through Stadia Church Planting and Compassion International. This church is located on Pampanal Island, located off the northern most coastline of Ecuador. There are roughly 250 chlidren on......

...particular, mission rooted in biblical foundation. There were no Old Testament people of God without a mission. The mission and the message of the Old Testament people, even though both issues can be separated, belong firmly together. The mission includes the proclamation of the message of God. Some scholars argued that in the Old Testament there is no specific call to evangelize the world. There is no commission in the Old Testament (in contrast to the New Testament) to go and evangelize the world. David J. Bosch stated that the New Testament as a missionary document, but he did not neglect the Old Testament. Depicting this idea that without the Old Testament there is no the New Testament document of mission. Bosch hints at an Old Testament notion of mission when he refers to the action of God in history. This activity is seen in history. The most obvious missionary activity is recorded in the Book of Jonah. This prophet was not willing to go and fulfill God’s commission. At the end, he wondered what was wrong with God when He saved the cruel Ninevites. Jonah saw the salvation of Ninevites as evil, and he refused to agree with God’s compassion (Jonah 3:10; 4:1). In a dramatic way, God taught His prophet about the universality of God’s salvation (4:6-11). The Lord demonstrated His unselfish love for all, even for the enemies of His people. We, traditionally, understand mission as sending to proclaim the gospel to distant place. In Old Testament there is no evident sending......

...Sabrina Bunkeut Mission Statement Mission: I would like to become a trauma surgeon in the future. My mission for the future would be to help save the lives of many people and give them care that is needed to satisfy them to get better. Health care for me is something I looked into since I was a little kid and it led here to UPHCSA. Before coming to UPHCSA, I was guided by the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology in the Health Science Program. At that program, it allowed me to further my education in the health care field and also gave me the experience to interact with patients at a hospital called “Abington Memorial Hospital”. Each time we went to the hospital, I shadowed doctors and nurses and was able to work with patients throughout different aspects of the hospital. Being here at UPHCSA really encouraged me to work harder and choose a career that actually makes a big difference to the world; and becoming a trauma surgeon is what my ideal career would be. I chose this career because I feel that it an interesting area to work in and such a fast-pace lifestyle that will never get me tired of helping those in need and making a difference to a patient’s life. I loved the experience of learning a lot of different areas of the health care at UPHCSA; it really showed me that it’s somewhere I would like to be in the future in the health care field and that becoming a trauma surgeon is my decision for my career in life....
