In this case study there will be several problems that are encountered and solutions to them as well. Carl Robins is the individual that encountered some problems, in the hiring of some employees that he had hired and was ill prepared for at the time. There were issues that needed to be resolved before he could finish the hiring process. In order to do the job correctly he needed to go through all the steps that would need to be taken.
Carl Robins is a campus recruiter for ABC Inc. he hired fifteen new hires that would work for Monica Carrolls, the Operations Supervisor. He found himself in tough spot and it all started out by poor timing Carl hired fifteen new hires, and he assured Monica the Operations Supervisor that all details would get taken care of and for her not to worry. When hiring the new employees, Carl had to make sure that all paper work was in order and that all files were up to date. He had a lot of work to do and quite some time to do it in. All fifteen new hires were initially hired in April, and Monica had called in mid-May to see about orientation packets and schedules etc.
Things needed to get done and they were not getting done by the looks of it. Carl was stressing out and tried to decide how he was going to deal with the situation. To say the least, it was a matter of timing and how he used it. Carl had about thirty plus days to get all the work done. He had time to make sure that all the files were in order and that all the new hires had time to make sure they had the proper forms, and documents that could or are needed, but it seemed like he waited till the last minute. The time that was waited for the files to be over-looked was way too long of a time period to wait to go through them. if there was any type of inconvenience for the employer, they could move on to the next new hire and focus on that one employee, and not wait till the last minute to see that a certain employee was missing documents, to solve that problem Carl could have set up a time frame for himself. A step by step process to help himself solve the issues he has at hand.
There was having to worry about if the orientation was going to held in the training room and there went into play that he didn’t have good organizational skills. The training room was double booked and the orientation was up in the air on where it was going to be held. Carl didn’t plan right, he didn’t check to see if things were in order. He went by thinking that things were going to get done. Carl could have checked with coworkers to see if there was any other room that he could use during the duration of the orientation that was coming up, and ask if there were vacant rooms for use as well. Manuals, policy booklets, physicals, drug tests, and a host of other issues were supposed to get dealt with. Nothing was getting done till couple days after Memorial Day, and even then Carl was panicked already because of all the miss haps.
As for the manuals and booklets Carl was going to make copies, and see if there was someone that could help him with the issue. This was one of the times Carl delegated work to someone else, a companywide manual nor booklet change from one day to another. And all the new hires were going to the same department so there wouldn’t be an issue with having to get different booklets or manuals.
Carl needed to make sure that the files were in order and make sure that he wasn’t missing any papers, documents from the future employee. So he wouldn’t have to worry about hiring someone with less experience, more or less qualifications, or having to pay more money to get them to a last minute orientation. To solve the issue with the files he needed to go through all the files’ days or even at the time he went and took the time to call the people he was going to hire for the job. There would have been time saved, less confusion on what to do.
To help have less confusion on the times, dates and drug test taken by the new hire Carl called each employee and got nine out of the fifteen. He called and talked to each one of the ones he got a hold of and made dates and times for them to go take the drug test. He wrote down who he got a hold of to avoid the confusion later for himself. He got emails from the other six that he needed to get in the drug screening and just in time he did achieve that goal. As for the physicals he had to set up dates right before the orientation, this is why he wrote down who he got a hold of the less confusion the better and smoothly the process would be for him. The dates of the physicals were days before the orientation, and the only reason that Carl had the schedule set up like he did was that the doctor’s office that the company went through always worked alongside the company. One could say that Carl got lucky that the company had that affiliation with the doctor’s office.
Carl could of asked the operations supervisor to help him out seeing as the new hires would be working for her, and things could have got done a lot faster and things wouldn’t have got over-looked with another there to help with the important things that he wanted to get done. The training room was well something I think that could have been prevented by carl he could of checked some sort of log or schedule to look at and see if anyone had booked the training room for other trainings and carl overlooked that there could have been an event that week a presentation that he wasn’t aware that might have been going on at the time.
After all the issues that were noticed Carl to see about the future employees. He needed to see what needs questions and concerns each person had about the job. The issue was that if questions were asked how would they be answered and dealt with. Carl had to come up some sort of game plan to prepare for any type of questions that any of the new hires could potentially have to ask him. The first order of business was to figure out he was going to ask them, and how he was going to go about having it all done in a short amount of time. He wanted to save time and make the issue as minimal as possible, Carl called each and every one of them and got a hold of all of them by phone and told them if there was any questions or issues that they had to email him promptly and in a timely matter if anyone had questions. So if anyone had any questions they were going to have to make known so it could be taken care, so that there weren’t any issues when orientation time came around all the questions were resolved. The point of this was so that the future employee had the responsibility to make sure his or her question was answered and taken care of, and they felt that company was in contact them and they knew the company was about.
Carl had the resources to do everything he said he could do and he had the time to also do everything he said he would do, Carl had problems to solve and he did just that Carl got it together quick. To make sure that it doesn’t happen to him again he should make sure to have outline of what he wants to do and what he wants to get done first. Carl needs to make more of an effort situate himself to where he has time, and he has all material in hand for future reference. He could someone to help him and organize the files for him, have better time management, better work ethic. Carl Robins solved the problems he had at hand and made sure that all future employees had the opportunity to work.…...

I imagine that when Anthony Athanas was purchasing those old piers back in the 1960s many, if not all, of his colleagues, friends, and family members told him that he was off his rocker.
