Kevin Plank, the Chief Executive Officer and President of Under Armour (UA), is an entrepreneurial hero that was recently added to the Forbes 400 list. He is also seen on other lists such as Forbes 40 under 40 and America’s 20 most Powerful CEOs 40 and Under. The youngest of five brothers, Plank always had the entrepreneurial spirit and a competitive drive to win. He started shoveling snow at the age of ten and held several jobs throughout his school days. He even had a small annual business, Cupid’s Valentine, which sold roses for Valentine’s Day. Plank says he put away $17,000 from the rose business, which was used as the start-up money for UA. Plank played football for Maryland, and as recalled by his teammates, he wasn’t the “biggest guy” or the “fastest guy,” but the one who “worked harder than anyone.” What he learned over the years on the football field is still used by him and has helped make him one of the most successful entrepreneurs today.
In all the stories about Planks childhood, schooling, athletic, and professional careers, he is described as an outgoing, people person. On the Big Five Personality Trait chart, he would be high on extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness and openness to experience. He always wanted to win, was good at motivating his teammates, he got along well with everyone and he was original and daring to take a risk and start up his own business. His internal locus of control probably contributed to him starting his own sports apparel business. Instead of being frustrated and blaming outside forces, he was able to figure out how to make it better and use it to his advantage.

Low skilled workers are so much easier to find and pay less than the "average American worker" (as shown by skew income data). The gap continues to increase although education or performance does not play part in the growing wages which makes absolutely no sense to me but I'm not the one appointed to put them in the top 25% of the salary range. Our corporations today can easily lay off workers and cut back salaries because workers in china would accept half as much pay as a worker here, for example, the effect being the lack of jobs and more money aimed towards CEOs. The gap should not be getting bigger this rapidly because there isn't as much money to fund the CEOs salaries, but there still is this "excess pay"(Obermatt). Just because there have been income gains in lower areas doesn't mean the gap should continue to grow between these areas and CEOs. ...Running on Holding a Plank For my groups experiment we decided that our experimental question is going to be “Can you hold a plank longer if you run.” Hypothesis- My hypothesis in this experiment is that if you run before you hold your plank, the plank will not last as long. I think that the plank will not last as long because you will be tired from the running and also you will not have that much energy left. Method and materials- In this experiment I did not really need that many materials because we were testing people to see if the hypothesis was correct or not. In this experiment the dependent variable would be how long you would be able to hold the plank when you were running and how long you were holing the plank without running. In Malischewsky’s paper [4] it is not shown, however, how Cardan’s formula together with the trigonometric formulas for the roots of the cubic equation are used with MATHEMATICA to obtain the formula. The aim of the present paper is twofold: first, to present a technique, based solely on the theory of cubic equations, with which to obtain a formula for the Rayleigh wave speed; second, to explain Malischewsky’s formula, in particular to clarify the role of the function sign(−γ + 1/6) in his formula. ...I think that people consider CEO compensation to be unfair because they simply see a large compensation. However, when determining if CEO compensation is fair I think there is more to be considered. People unaffiliated with the company are not going to have an unbiased opinion. Therefore, we need to look to those affiliated with the company of interest. Research shows that 93% of companies in the Russell 3000 index approved of their CEO's pay. (Feloni 2014) Also, we should consider that only 20% of CEO compensation is base pay, the rest is based on the performance of the company. Therefore, the majority of their compensation is contingent on working hard to see their company succeed. A paper by Kaplan and Joshua Rauh of Stanford found that the highest paid CEO’s also generated higher stock returns. “The highest-paid CEOs in terms of realized pay—the top 20% out of 1,700 firms—generated three-year stock returns that were 60% higher than those of other firms in their industries.” (Sumo and Weitzman 2013) It should also be noted that the increase of current CEO’s compensation packages are reflecting US stock highs. Finally, CEO’s are appointed. They have to climb the corporate ladder and have adequate qualifications.
