There has been debate on whether or not high schools should choose courses for their students. Some people believe that students in high school should have the right to study the courses they like. However, other people disagree and stand that teenagers can not totally aware of what they like and what they need to know at their age. In this essay I will discuss both points and present my view in favour of that some courses must be required to study by students

.First of all, maturity of the students is the main concern to the question. They are in the period of adolescence and without the experienced advice, they may not have the skills to determine what is beneficial for them to study. //Perhaps, most of us have changed our aspirations for many times during the past decade. what he has devoted in music may hinder his development in other areas. They may help to arouse a hidden interest in a student about a particular subject by compelling him or her to study that subject.. //. Making choices among many is a quite complex decision making skill, especially at the age when you are in your high school. Students look for ease, never for complexity. that simplicity may turn into a lack of knowledge, later.More than anything else, broad education in high school is more necessary than profession one. I think that students have to learn variety of courses and experiences. we can’t deny that we don’t know much about the real world itself What the teachers want us to learn is not only the dry and boring theory, but how we can use this knowledge to make our life easier and happier. , For example, I am a non-native speaker of English and it is hard to express my…...

Reasons for Shifting Courses of College Students

...STUDENTS’ SHIFTING OF COURSES:ITS IMPLICATION ON CAREER GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING IN THE COLLEGEOF EDUCATION GRACE H. PASAQUIAN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION Most colleges and universities are faced with challenge and stability during college in time with the student’s selection of course. This phenomenon seems global throughout the educational institution in the tertiary. Students flock to courses which seemingly interest them but tend to shift to other courses at other times. From the point of view of development, individuals given a longer and healthier life span may change overtime and find out that an earlier occupational choices no longer satisfies them viewed from this perspective choices made in adolescence may be less important than the ability to make good decision. Flexibility and willingness to change may be as critical as the ability to commit oneself to particular goal, thus shifting courses is no exemption. It is true that with the exemption of certain schools and certain courses, freshmen and sophomores usually take general introductory courses, while junior and seniors are concentrating in the academic subjects. But what causes the shifting from one course to another would obviously mean that several failures may be responsible for a person’s choice. In the Philippines, College students are not exempted from this tendency. It is commonly experienced these days that a good number of freshmen students shift from one course to......

TOEFL Independent Writing 6: Topic List 122 (不限时完整版) Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People are never satisfied with what they have; they always want something more or something different. Use specific reasons to support your answer. It is universally recognized that people should be satisfied sometimes, they shouldn't be avaricious. Tracing the hidden reasons, this is probably because some people failed their dreams and think accomplishing the goal is impossible for everybody. With the negative impacts of this idea, the human beings cannot develop forward anymore. Whatever, I think the phenomenon that people are never well-pleased with what they have and always pursue something better has to be admitted. By this I mean that people are never satisfied in their daily life. They may have something, but when they see newer things that give them the same function, they will buy again. Also, if they have some kind of thing, and they realize that there are better things in this aspect, they will buy the better ones and throw their older one away. Every year, Apple Inc pose their new iPhone, and then millions of people in the world buy it, many of them have an iPhone, say iPhone 5, and it performances very...

1. Children Learn Best by Observing the Behavior of Adults and Copying It. Do You Agree or Disagree? Use Specific Reasons and Examples to Support Your Answer.

...I agree with the statement that children learn best by watching and imitating adults’ conducts and behaviour. Even though children develop their own thoughts and personality, those elements are continually shaped and influenced by the environment. Behaviour of adults are the best way children learn because of the proximity of parents and their children, Adult’s behaviour plays a significant role in modelling children’s personality. It is often mentioned that parents are the first teacher of their child. Although parents sometimes do not intend to teach the children certain things, kids have started to imitate and watch what their parents are doing. Since the first day a baby was born, the baby starts learning through imitating and observing each movement of the adults. As children grow, adults around them tend to have important effect on their decision making skill and logical thinking. Adults should set a good example for children as they learn by paying attention to people around them. For example, little girls enjoy playing making up in front of the mirror after seeing their mother making up. Boys, in the other hand, learn to play football and video games after seeing their fathers doing these. However, imitation occur in both good and bad way as children also imitate the bad stuff people around them perform. For instance, children growing up hearing vulgar language, they would think that it is the right thing to do and follow the behaviour. That is why it is......

Do You Agree or Disagree with the Following Statement

...Do you think that people want something new and different and are never satisfied with what they have? Well, some people might oppose this point. However, for the following three points and examples, I strongly insist that as people get more, they want something even more. Now, I will give you my three points that support my position. To begin with, many people think that they want to walk when they are running. They then want to sit if they are walking. Next, if they are sitting, they want to lay down. Then, they want to fall asleep. This shows us how people are never satisfied with what they have. Once they have accomplished something, they want to get something more and more. This is the first point of my view. As to the second point, people especially students want lots of clothes even after they bought clothes. My friends in grade nine really like wearing many different kinds of clothes. They said that made their parents angry but they were never satisfied with their clothes. In this situation, it is clearly showing that people are never satisfied with what they have. The very last point is related to money. As you all know, people love money because they know that they wouldn’t be able to do anything without money. Nevertheless, people always want more money as they earn more. We can’t deny this fact. Well, some won’t do but over 80% of people will probably want more money. They never get satisfied with money and this is evidently......

But now researchers are finding that games can actually change us for the better and improve both our body and mind. Games can help to develop physical skills. Pre-school children who played interactive games such as the ones available on Wii have been shown to have improved motor skills, for example they can kick, catch and throw a ball better that children who don’t play video games. A study of surgeons who do microsurgery in Boston found that those who played video games were twenty-seven percent faster and made thirty-seven percent fewer errors than those who didn’t. Vision is also improved, particularly telling the difference between shades of grey. This is useful for driving at night, piloting a plane or reading x-rays. Games also benefit a variety of brain functions, including decision-making. People who play action-based games make decision twenty-five percent faster than others and are no less accurate, according to one study. It was also found that the best gamers can make choices and......

Student Should Not Go Abroad for Study

...Do you agree for disagree with the following statement? Student should not go abroad for study. Use specific reasons and details to support your opinion. The issue about whether student should go abroad for study or not is a debatable one. Some students think that study abroad brings many benefits, while others are of the opinion that they should finish university education in their motherland. For several reasons, which I will list bellow, I disagree with those people who think that student should not go to study in a foreign country. Firstly, the main reason why students prefer foreign countries for study would be: they always seek some changes regards to their education. If it is foreign countries, they can learn different languages and cultures while it is difficult if they constantly stay at one place. This aspect helps them to gain experiences as well as knowledge. For instance, in many overseas countries, once students complete their degree or course, those countries will offer a wide variety of opportunities to get into a prestigious company. Furthermore, independent lifestyle is a big and significant part in one person's life. Many people in other countries want to run their life on their own. They aspire for an independent life and eventually this would develop their self-esteem and confidence level. In addition to this, students can make new friends there and consequently they will be well-developed in the language skills. Sometimes students might be suffering......

Study Habits of High School Students

... CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION Background of the study The middle school years are a critical turning point in young peoples’ lives. At ages 11-14 years, children go through the early adolescence stage. Adolescence is an important period when a child adjusts physically, learns new cognitive abilities, forms positive social relationships, develops a positive sense of self, and forges a personal code of ethics and morality (Eccles, Midgley,1989;Jackson & Davis,2000). Schools, along with peers and families, play an important role in fostering young peoples’ healthy development through the adolescent years (Meece, 2003). Thus, ignoring the developmental needs of students in school might result in the students developing a wrong notion of school until adulthood. Students’ eagerness and motivation to go to high school may decline as they go through their first year in high school if they may still lack the interaction they need to become familiar with and to be exposed to the high school’s norms and environment (Eccles & Midgley, 1989) (Barone, Aguirre-Deandreis, & Trickett, 1991). First year students tend to become lost in the “new world” they are in (Mizelle, 1995; Phelan, Yu, & Davidson, 1994) as they are expected to be more independent in high school, with less spoon-feeding of information and more application of good study habits. The new first year students are expected to be more mature as they deal with new classroom subjects, adopt a better value system, and......
