...Technology has made life easier for people and it is now becoming something that people rely on too much. In today’s world technology is seen everywhere you go, you can see it in a workplace, schools, public places and in our homes. Technology is a great thing as long as people remember to use it as a tool and not a way of life. Because people rely on technology, it has caused problem like loss of work, vehicle accidents, and lack of proper communication. People should know how to live without fully relying on technology and sadly, not many do know how to live without it. People will argue that technology is the future and that people need to know how to use it to live. Workplaces will argue that technology has improved productivity and reduced costs. Schools will argue that technology has made learning easier for most students and it is something they need to learn to be ready for life outside of school. Most people will just simply argue that they cannot live without technology. These are all good points and yes because of technology, we have been able to get more work done in less time. Sure technology can do the work faster and with fewer mistakes as a person and learning how to use technology is something that everyone needs to know. However, we have relied too much on technology and the question should not be can you live without technology, the question should be, do you know how to live without technology. Today’s jobs mostly run on technology and less by humans....

What Is Edi & How Does It Works?

...Electronic data interchange (EDI) is a document standard which when implemented acts as common interface between two or more computer applications in terms of understanding the document transmitted. It is commonly used by big companies for e-commerce purposes, such as sending orders to warehouses or tracking their order. It is more than mere e-mail; for instance, organizations might replace bills of lading and even cheques with appropriate EDI messages. It also refers specifically to a family of standards. In 1996, the National Institute of Standards and Technology defined electronic data interchange as "the computer-to-computer interchange of strictly formatted messages that represent documents other than monetary instruments. EDI implies a sequence of messages between two parties, either of whom may serve as originator or recipient. The formatted data representing the documents may be transmitted from originator to recipient via telecommunications or physically transported on electronic storage media." It distinguishes mere electronic communication or data exchange, specifying that "in EDI, the usual processing of received messages is by computer only. Human intervention in the processing of a received message is typically intended only for error conditions, for quality review, and for special situations. For example, the transmission of binary or textual data is not EDI as defined here unless the data are treated as one or more data elements of an EDI message and are......

...Technology: It’s Effect on Our Youth Growing up I remember playing outside all day, enjoying the outdoors, and riding bikes down the dirt roads, trying to find some new adventure to get into. Looking around now, I notice teenagers glued to their phones when they are out eating, walking around and even while driving. It seems like a lot has changed since I was a child. Technological advances have made our way of life easier by making communication faster than ever before, improving production rates, and making it easier to access information. However, with the good also comes the bad. I have noticed an increase in the time children spend inside, as opposed to outdoors, the changes in behavior of children and teenagers, and the decline in personal interaction. I believe that technology, if not used in moderation, could have a negative influence on our youth. I have noticed the significant change that has occurred in technology in just a generation’s time. As a child, I remember when people were purchasing their first personal computers, usually for everyone in the household to share. These computers were not nearly as fast and advanced as computers are today. Now, nearly every home in America has a personal computer, laptop or some other way of accessing the internet, like a smartphone or tablet. While access to the internet can help educate children if used in an educational way, misuse of technology, like playing violent video games, could cause a......

...EDI means computer to computer exchange of standardized electronic transaction documents. It enables businesses to exchange business information electronically much faster, cheaper and more accurately than using paper-based systems. Based on my research, EDI is widely used in US like manufacturing, shipping, warehousing, construction, insurance, health care companies, and government. There are two obvious advantages for using EDI: (1), increasing business opportunities which companies can improve interaction with private sector companies; (2), reducing costs and time. There are both time and cost reduction in dealing with record keeping, mails, distributions, documents and processing orders. And also there will be more efficiency and accurate in application of EDI. Small companies can give themselves a competitive advantage by using EDI. I found the insurance company state farm is using EDI to reduce the administration cost and enhance the efficiency for the data of their business. ...Reflexes and More Vacuous Our nation changes and improves every year, and one of the many improvements that continues to evolve is computer technology. It becomes more prominent and is changing the generations of teenagers and adults as it continues to become more popular. Many can argue that computer technology is good or bad for our minds. Nicholas Carr has shared his view that technology is making our minds vapid. He states at the end of his article “Is Google Making Us Stupid?”, “as we come to rely on computers to mediate our understanding of the world, it is our own intelligence that flattens into artificial intelligence” (345). However along with all the advancements that can help our nation there are also a few technologies such as social media and gaming that does not exactly help improve our generation. Technology may be improving to be fulfilling the wants of people, however our nation needs a generation that does not spend their entire life on the internet. Therefore, social media or gaming is a drawback to computer technology because it begins to prevent people from using their full ability of brain power which will soon prevent from furthering technology in our world to better the nation. The internet and social media have benefited people by improving the knowledge that people have. Many great advances can come out of technology, because just thirty years ago our nation did not even know about the internet. However nowadays, it is used on a daily basis to......

Pro N Cons of Edi

...EDI EDI stands for Electronic Data Interchange. EDI is an exchange of data or business documents between two or more businesses using a standardized electronic format, without human intervention. It is mostly used by large businesses to carry out their business process over a secured network with accuracy and in less time. ADVANTAGES Save Money The cost of paper and paper processing is incredibly high compared to a properly implemented EDI program. RJR Nabisco estimates that processing a paper purchase order costs the company $70. Processing an EDI purchase order reduces the cost to a mere 93 cents. End Repetition If your trading partner wants a copy of a document, instead of calling you they simply check their mailbox. This results in a great time savings from not having to copy and fax/mail copies of business documents. Save Time EDI also saves time over paper processing since the transfer of information from computer to computer is automatic. There is no need to rekey information with EDI. And the chance for error drops to near zero, with no data entry. Improve Customer Service The quick transfer of business documents and marked decrease in errors allow you to do business faster and more efficient. Mart is an example of a retailer that implements a Vendor Stock Replenishment (VSR) program. With VSR, the Mart warehouse sends stock as their EDI system reports it and automatically bills the client. It can cut weeks from the order fulfillment cycle and ensures that......

...past decade, technology has drastically improved the lives of people from all across the globe. The purpose of this paper is to focus on the impact technology has had on a working environment, and how it has affected the overall performance of the working world. The intent of this paper is concentrate primarily on the relationships of team building, the challenges that are faced when technology is present in a working environment, the positives/negatives of virtual teams, and how technology can make for a more effective working environment. In order for a team to build a successful relationship, they have to be willing to work together in hopes of achieving a common goal. As we have read in our text, not all groups are successful. Our text compared groups to teams, and the main argument is that a team is just a general collection of people. When people are not brought together to work cooperatively with one another, it makes the process of team building a very difficult task to micromanage compared to the goal at hand. The camaraderie that is built throughout virtual teams is able to be achieved in numerous ways. Web meetings, documents, photographs, and visual organizational charts make it possible for virtual teams scattered all around the world to have a common working ground where they are able to collaborate as one team and do so successfully. A challenge can be defined as difficulty in a job that is stimulating to one who is engaged in it. With technology,......
