“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it’s the only thing that ever has” stated Margaret Mead. The Women’s Rights movement starts its beginning as July 13, 1848. This women’s movement didn’t just happen because someone thought that it was time for women to have the same rights as men but because women of all ages came together at the start of it in order to fight for equality among the sexes and this was something they were passionate about. Women have seriously affected changes in laws and human nature by holding meetings, petition drives, public speaking and other effective ways. These leaders of the movement fought for freedom in family life, religion, government, employment, and education. Over several years they have slowly but successfully gained access to these freedoms because of a group of women who never gave up for futuristic women and who fought in the things they believed in like freedoms. The year is 1840 and Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott traveled with their husbands to the Worlds Anti-Slavery Convention, but the women were not allowed to participate. Mott and Stanton became friends and together planned their own convention to expand and further the cause for Women’s Rights. These women were both Quakers and came from small towns. Stanton is most famous for her Women’s Bible and leading the Women’s Right Convention. Finally the summer of 1848 came around and Stanton, along with Mott and three other women called together the Seneca Falls Convention. There were 300 attendees which included around 40 men. They discussed women’s rights and brought together the Declaration of Sentiments. These women got 100 people to sign the Declaration.

...Organizational change is a complicated process that requires the individuals involved to consider many ongoing factors. Throughout the semester, communication and empowerment have been discussed in detail during classroom conversations, in-class activities, and CREW projects. Since I cannot include a thorough analysis of every aspect that should be addressed during change, I have chosen to focus on communication and empowerment. I will show through journal articles, in-class discussions and activities, interviews of IRS employees, and other sources, that change will not flow smoothly if either one of these aspects are missing. I understand that some changes happen unexpectedly, but to successfully make it through the change one must communicate with his/her employees (on many levels), and empower them in order to increase their acceptance and commitment to change. First, a definition of organizational communication is necessary, "it refers to information dissemination (downwards, upwards, and laterally), the importance of this information and how effective the information is distributed and how well the employees understand and accept it." (Coetsee, 1999) This definition provides us with a window to see exactly how huge communication is within organizations, and especially during times of change. Ideally, new skill requirements should be identified and developed early in the change process in order to ensure that managers and employees are ready to face their new tasks and roles when the changes are implemented. However, despite good intentions at the top management level, employees and middle managers often report uncertainty and a lack of the necessary skills required to implement change. In this paper, we report from a qualitative study of two planned organizational change initiatives in the public sector. The changes involved new work tasks and managerial roles for a group of middle managers. Although the skill requirements appeared to be clear and formal training was initiated, a number of uncertain and ambiguous issues emerged among the change recipients. We examine the types of uncertainty and ambiguity that emerged and how change recipients attempted to handle these challenges.
