Dominican College San Juan exclusive for girls with young ladies known for their great works. We’ve notice that we are preparing to live a meaningful life with our teachers and staff. We improved to be an independent woman. Early as the freshman year, they taught us a lot. They build and feed us with moral values. However many experiences and studies found out that there also several factors that would account for the grades. It has been interplay of so many factors like the gender, IQ, study habits and many more. In fact almost all of the existing environmental and personal factors are greatly involved in the academic performance of students. All too often, children perform poorly in school simply because they lack good study habits. In many cases, students don't know where to begin, don't fully understand the material, are not motivated by it, or feel that there was too much work given to them with too little time to complete or study it. If their studying skills do not improve, these students will continue to test poorly and not perform to their fullest potential.

Factors That Affects the Study Habits of Students

...History[edit] Students taking a scholarship examination inside a classroom in 1940 Ancient China was the first country in the world that implemented a nationwide standardized test, which was called the imperial examination. The main purpose of this examination was to select for able candidates for specific governmental positions.[4] The imperial examination was established by the Sui Dynasty in 605 AD and was later abolished by the Qing Dynasty 1300 years later in 1905. England had adopted this examination system in 1806 to select specific candidates for positions in Her Majesty's Civil Service, modeled on the Chinese imperial examination. This examination system was later applied to education and it started to influence other parts of the world as it became a prominent standard (e.g. regulations to prevent the markers from knowing the identity of candidates), of delivering standardized tests. Influence of World Wars on Testing Both World War I and World War II made many people realize the necessity of standardized testing and the benefits associated with these tests. One main reason people saw the benefits was from the Army Alpha and Army Beta tests, which were used during WWI to determine human abilities. Alongside the Army Alpha, the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale "added momentum to the testing movement."[5] Soon after, colleges and industry began using tests to help in accepting and hiring people based on performance of the test. Another reason more......

But sometimes, no matter how much you’ve worked to create a study habit and stay focused, other factors creep in. Sometimes they’re not even something you can control—but when you’re aware of the things that can slip you up while you’re charging ahead through your nursing administration degree, you’re much more likely to succeed. 1. Weather. Seriously. You can’t control the weather—but you can stay aware of how it affects you, both positively and negatively. A sunshiney day is going to put you in a positive mood, but it could also be contributing to your urge to procrastinate and go play. On a gloomy, rainy day, time can sometimes feel like it’s slipping away—and with it, your study hours. And it’s not just emotional: bad weather, bad roads, and delayed buses can screw up your whole schedule. All of these factors are things to......

Without it, one does not grow and become self-limiting in life. Truly, it plays a very important role on their academic performances. The effects of study habits on student’s academic performances rely on how they practiced their own study habits. It is actually not difficult to acquire excellent and powerful studying habits and techniques. Many of these are actually common sense and the key is the application of strong study tools and not actually in the tools altogether. ...take longer. This is to allow time for the most awaited relative to arrive. WHAT ARE THESE RITUALS AND TRADITIONS? 1. First of all the tradition of wakes and the importance of the whole family to be gathered again. Among us Igorots, the event of death is a very special occasion which is of value and has to be observed. As much as possible even now in the times of diaspora, all the close relatives have to be gathered and are expected to be around when someone in the family had died. Children, siblings, spouses and parents should not be missing in the list of important relatives to be present on times when someone died. 2. The animal offerings. There are animals to be offered/butchered as there are tremendous numbers of people expected to be around during the time of vigil and wake. Not only the direct relatives and friends, almost the whole community is welcomed to join the bereaved family during their process of working out their last respect to the dead. People come for the wake and also for the burial and they have to be hosted and be fed as well. This explains, why we butcher numerous animals. 3. Not only the animal offering, the numbers and the variety of pigs or chicken have to be proper. Especially on the day of the burial. A set in minimum of three pigs has to be butchered. The pigs should be of the native variety or at least dark hair. I was 14 years of age when my father died in an accident in the Lepanto mines where he had worked. It was clear enough, that my......

Pila Instructor Submitted by Alfredo B. Paghasian Jr. Gener Michael Barbarona Students January 22, 2016 Table of Contents Chapter 1 Introduction 1.1 Background & Rationale/Purpose 1.2 Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION Study habits are the most influential factor that contributes to a positive or negative academic performance of a student. Habits refer to an act that is repetitively done by a certain person, while study means to gain knowledge and information. Thus, study habits are habitual actions that are done in order to gain learning. Hence, it indicates the students’ ability, mastery of content, skills in applying, learned knowledge to a particular situation. ...achieve stability and balance by adjustments and adaptations that are successful to some degree for efficient and effective functioning. The system is usually flexible enough to accommodate the influences affecting it. Therefore, it is well-explained that through little efforts on modifying a student’s habits in studying, they can develop an organized pattern of behavior useful to their goal of becoming a successful student who has good academic performances. This theory clearly supports this study that study habits are relevant to academic performance. As it is said in the study of Crede and Kuncel (2008), study habit, skill, and attitude inventories and constructs were found to rival standardized tests and previous grades as predictors of academic performance, yielding substantial incremental validity in predicting academic performance. Study motivation and study skills exhibit the strongest relationships with both grade point average and grades in individual classes. Academic specific anxiety was found to be an important negative predictor of performance. In addition, significant variation in the validity of specific inventories is shown. Scores on traditional study habit and attitude inventories......
