The local fast food restaurant of choice for a healthy meal is McDonalds. The items I have chosen for the meal include a premium caesar salad with grilled chicken, a fruit and yogurt parfait, bottled Dasani water, and a strawberry banana smoothie for dessert. Each food item from the menu contains healthy nutrients that will contribute to the one’s health. The premium Caesar salad contains proteins, and it also provides the body with an adequate amount of vitamin A. A fruit yogurt parfait provides carbohydrates, vitamin a, c, and d. The bottle of Dasani water gives the body the fluids it needs, and a strawberry banana smoothie is dessert yet nutritious. It gives the body a good amount of sugar and vitamin c that it needs. This meal from McDonalds in quite healthy in comparison to all the food choices they provide. I feel this is a good food choice because it is something that people wouldn’t regularly choose when going to a fast food restaurant. I feel that each food item is vital in providing a nutritious meal intake. The body is not introduced to too much sugar and fat, which in turn puts individuals at high risk of diabetes. These fats also open the doors for people have high cholesterol and be at risk for stroke or heart attack. All vitamins A-D as well as some calcium are provided in this meal which the body needs for strong bones and for the prevention of osteoporosis. Calcium strengthens the bone, and osteoporosis can cause the bones to deteriorate over time. After analyzing this meal and the food choices, it will affect what I choose to purchase when going to a fast food restaurant. These items are usually overlooked, yet it all provides everything that the body need. Eating this type of meal will allow me to continue a journey of a healthy lifestyle. More importantly, eating these types of meals ensure me that I will live a long life. The second and…...

...Fast Food Fast-Food and Obesity            Fast-food chains have been facing lawsuits in the last couple years like the one two New York teenagers filed against McDonald’s accusing it of failing to provide necessary  information about health risk associated with its meals. As many Americans consume Fast-food and spend more money in Fast-food restaurants and less in grocery stores, nutrition and health advocates have become concerned about American’s health and nutrition.  Knowing the number of calories and the amount of fat and salt in the Fast-food and knowing the dangerous effects of the Fast-food, people should decide which item are better choice to plan a convenient healthful diet and take action.         As Americans lives become more hectic they have less time to select, prepare and eat food, so they switch to plan B without any thinking. Fast-food attracts most American’s because they are widely available and inexpensive .Eric Schlosser has noted “That 70 percent of the fast food stopovers are “Impetuous” done with little thought at the tern of the moment”. These stopovers are overflowing with a high number of calories. These great numbers of calories consumed break the of energy balance where the calories taken in eating Fast-food are greater than the calories used during physical activities. This causes a serious problem which is obesity. As Surgeon General David Satcher pointed out, “People eat more calories … than they work off”.  The numbers of obese people...

Fast Food

...Fast food is affordable; being able to upsize a meal for a very minimal fee has made many our kids' gluttons indeed. Good healthful foods cost more money and take more time to prepare, for that reason, In our fast food society, it is often much easier to drive through a McDonald's than it is to cook a meal and eat it. Would you rather get a few vegetables from the market or a whole meal including: four tacos, a soda, and a hamburger for the same price? Fast food meals are not only convenient, they are often very cheap. The fact that fast food is cheap and quick is no coincidence. It is hard to avoid being drowned into the world of fast food. For instance, the ingredients on salty French fires dry you mouth out, so a large coke is necessary, too. As we can see, the fast food companies have everything so maliciously prepare, so we as the parents buy their products almost by instinct. Currently, with the strict economic times diner at fast food restaurant may even cost less than preparing dinner at home. Although, not all people think alike, some of them will probably dispute my claim arguing that we live in a busy life and that we are always on the go, but do not allow obesity to spread in your home. Take responsibility and change your life style in order for kids to have a healthier future. This is a valid reason to blame fast food chains for obesity. Unfortunately, cheaper foods are easier to acquire but they lack of nutritional values and are high in calories and......

A Visit to the Fast Food Chain

...A Visit to the Fast Food Chain I took a recent visit to the McDonald’s in Southern Pines, NC, for lunch. Before I went in I observed the building, it is white with a red roofing and it has a Golden Arch at the top in the shape of the letter M. There was a long line of cars circling around the building ordering at the drive-thru and paying for and picking up their food from the two service windows. There was a colorful play center that is gated and attached outside in front of the building with red eating tables made for the children and their families if they wish to play or sit outside and eat their food. As I entered the restaurant, it was a very busy and friendly environment. It was very crowded with customers at that time though, it seemed like every one decided to take a lunch break. There were three lines of patient and impatient customers waiting to order their food. The environment in the restaurant was very bright on the inside with bright lights and small little dining tables and booths for the customers to sit in and dine. The cleanliness of the restaurant was very impressive and the aroma of the place smelled of french fries, burgers, and the buns. Some of the customers chose to get their food to go. The workers were dressed very neatly in their red-collared shirts with name tags and their black hats and black dress pants. The managers were dressed nice as well in their white collared shirts with their name tags, red neck ties, and blue dress pants. They......

Nowadays, most of the women are really busy to go for grocery shopping, come back home, unpack the food, and then cook it; so they prefer to go to fast food restaurant like McDonald’s. Many families are choosing fast food restaurants instead of fancy restaurants in this bad economy situation, because fancy restaurants charge much more money than fast food and people would rather eat at those places with family only on special occasions. However parents know that the fast food doesn’t have good nutrition balance for their children. In addition, some people who don’t have families and they live by themselves visit fast food because of their busy schedule. They are too busy to cook. In conservation with one of the poll on mid March, she says that she works full time and she goes to school part time, so she......
