An Unusual Dream
I had a dream this morning.
You know the kind of dreams you have right before you wake up that seem so very real…
In my dream, a friend of mine and I were, for some inexplicable reason, working late in a restaurant and having difficulty closing up. As is often the case in my dreams, there was a task to be done and infinite problems continually got in the way of completing the task. But, after what seemed like hours in my dream, we finally finished the task and left the restaurant…late for some sort of get together.
As we crossed the parking lot toward my truck, casually chatting, I began to notice someone in the parking lot moving to intersect with our course. I paid little attention to this man, but could see that he was deliberately moving to meet us. I continued to ignore him as he stepped in front of my path and I even attempted to move out of his way. The man, intent on getting my attention, stepped in front of me again now nearly bumping in to each and other I finally looked up to see what he wanted.
The rest of the dream was stripped away as I looked into my father’s face. He was younger than I remember him, before he began working as a correctional officer. He was thin like he was when I was in High School and his hair was longer and he wore his typical beard. He was dressed casually, as I would expect him to dress now for any normal afternoon in public. He smiled his broad smile at me and his eyes were bright and alive with laughter. I don’t know when he had reached out but I felt his hands firmly on my shoulders, holding me steady.
I broke from my initial shock and I grabbed him in a huge bear-hug and asked him what he was doing there. Not in the sense that it was impossible, but only that I did not expect him to be here. The party we were late for was a good-bye party for him, and he became worried when I was running late…...

Define the Date Format Users enter a receipt date in the spreadsheet Date From column. For multiple–day receipts, users can define a range of days by entering dates in both the Date From and the Date To columns. When an employee imports a completed expense report, Internet Expenses compares the date format of the Date From and Date To columns to the date format set using the self-service applications General Preferences function. If the date formats in these columns do not match the date format specified by the General Preferences function, users must re–enter receipt dates in Internet Expenses. An example of a valid date format is DD–MON–YYYY. When a user makes changes to the General Preferences, the changes only affect that user’s login session. Prerequisites Determine a date format to use in the Expense Spreadsheet. To define the date format: 1. Open the Expense Report sheet tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet. 2. Select the Date From and the Date To column, then choose Format > Cells. 3. Open the Number tab, then choose Date as the Category. 4. ...the Debian software, see Aptitude (software). An aptitude is a component of a competency to do a certain kind of work at a certain level, which can also be considered "talent". Aptitudes may be physical or mental. Aptitude is not knowledge, understanding, learned or acquired abilities (skills) or attitude. The innate nature of aptitude is in contrast to achievement, which represents knowledge or ability that is gained.[1] Contents [hide] 1 Intelligence 2 Combined aptitude and knowledge tests 3 See also 4 References Intelligence[edit] Aptitude and intelligence quotient are related, and in some ways opposite views of human mental ability. Whereas intelligence quotient sees intelligence as being a single measurable characteristic affecting all mental ability, aptitude refers to one of many different characteristics which can be independent of each other, such as aptitude for military flight, air traffic control, or computer programming.[2] This is more similar to the theory of multiple intelligences. Concerning a single measurable characteristic affecting all mental ability, analysis of any group of intelligence test scores will nearly always show them to be highly correlated. The U.S. Department of Labor's General Learning Ability, for instance, is determined by combining Verbal, Numerical and Spatial aptitude subtests. In a given person some are low and others high. In the context of an aptitude test the "high" and "low" scores are usually......

The General

...because of how he did it. Harold Lloyd made us laugh as much, Charlie Chaplin moved us more deeply, but no one had more courage than Buster. I define courage as Hemingway did: "Grace under pressure." In films that combined comedy with extraordinary physical risks, Buster Keaton played a brave spirit who took the universe on its own terms, and gave no quarter. I'm immersed in his career right now, viewing all of the silent features and many of the shorts with students at the University of Chicago. Having already written about Keaton's "The General" (1927) in this series, I thought to choose another title. "The Navigator," perhaps, or "Steamboat Bill, Jr.," or "Our Hospitality." But they are all of a piece; in an extraordinary period from 1920 to 1929, he worked without interruption on a series of films that make him, arguably, the greatest actor-director in the history of the movies. Most of these movies were long thought to be lost. "The General," with Buster as a train engineer in the Civil War, was always available, hailed as one of the supreme masterpieces of silent filmmaking. But other features and shorts existed in shabby, incomplete prints, if at all, and it was only in the 1960s that film historians began to assemble and restore Keaton's lifework. Now almost everything has been recovered, restored, and is available on DVDs and tapes that range from watchable to sparkling. It's said that Chaplin wanted you to like him, but Keaton didn't care. I think he cared, but was......

...theories out there on the topic of knowledge and what it is. These theories fall under two different categories; rationalism and empiricism. When asked which theory I feel answers the question of what knowledge is, I find that I cannot commit to just one. Rather I feel that a combination of Descartes and Locke’s theory of knowledge fits with my own beliefs. Since I cannot commit to strictly one theory I am on the fence about it, but for good reason. Parts of Descartes’s and Locke’s theories fit but not either of them completely. That being said my beliefs seem to fit in with dualism more completely than anything else. Dualism is the theory that the mind and body are separate entities (Palmer 442), which leans more towards the rationalism of Descartes. I believe in this idea that the mind and body are indeed two separate entities because there is so much that is unknown about consciousness in general. I feel that there is something much more to our minds and what it is truly capable of than we will ever know. I also think that the difference or the connection between mind and body is main problem with consciousness and because of this, the question of knowledge and what it means to know anything with certainty is so heavily debated. This is why I cannot fully commit to one theory of knowledge completely; bits of each theory, specifically Descartes and Locke’s theories, make sense when combined then either in particular. Descartes’s theory of knowledge goes something like......

...effluxion of time or obsolescence through technology and market changes. Accordingly, depreciation may arise even when asset has not been used in the current year but was ready for use in that year. The need for using the stand by bus may not have arisen during the year but that does not imply that the useful life of the bus has not been affected. Therefore, non-provision of depreciation on the ground that the bus was not used during the year is not tenable. As per para no. 10.1 of AS 10, ‘Accounting for Fixed Assets’, clearly states that the gross book value of the self constructed fixed asset includes the costs of construction that relate directly to the specific asset and the costs that are attributable to the construction activity in general can be allocated to the specific asset. Thus, only ` 4,50,000 should be debited to the factory building account and not ` 6,00,000. Hence, the contention of the directors of the company to capitalize ` 6,00,000 as cost of factory building, on the ground that the company is fully entitled to employ an outside contractor is not justifiable. ...as a deflection or alteration in a long-term trajectory or pathway that commenced at an earlier in time (Sampson & Laub, 2005). The interest here is in understanding the offenders’ turning points which are responsible in redirecting trajectories and not mere temporary discourses in their lives’ the pathways. As such, a turning point is especially helpful in the study of alterations in deviant behaviors within different contexts and over the life span. Turning points offer potentially fruitful areas of investigation that may enhance an understanding of how and why offenders quit their behaviors over the long-term. Characteristics of Low Self-control or Impulsivity Self-control is an important concept under Gottfredson and Hirschi’s general theory of crime (Pratt & Cullen, 2007). Individuals with low self-control are easily persuaded by situational factors. They become impulsive, risk-taking, insensitive, short-sighted, physical and nonverbal which predisposes them to criminal engagements. People with low self-control can be identified in various ways. They are unable to delay gratification due to their focus on the present. They often act impulsively with an immediate want for things. They become risk takers with little thought. People with low self-control also focus on themselves as opposed to other people which make them very insensitive. Empathy is of little import to them. As such, low self-control easily leads one into criminal behavior. Adolescent......

...employees’ behavior and overall organizational performance. Barney (2001) argued that firms with a rare (hard-to-imitate) group culture possess a competitive edge over their competitors. Bain & Company (2007) conducted a worldwide business leaders’ survey where they established that corporate culture was equally important alongside corporate strategy for business success. It is thus least surprising that most leaders of successful business enterprises quickly attribute their firm’s success to a sound group culture. Conventionally, a group’s culture is usually modeled by four elements: the intellectual reason (purpose) for togetherness; the emotional attraction which connects people’s hearts to a common task; the artifacts created, common knowledge acquired and practices developed together by members; and, the deeply rooted spiritual intention/ connection unifying the group. A perfect example of one such enterprise with an exemplary group culture is the globally renowned Mayo Clinic. The Mayo Clinic’s Enduring Corporate Culture The Mayo Clinic’s culture is deeply rooted in a set of organizational core values. The clinic has been physician-led since it was founded at Rochester in the late 1800s (Berry & Seltman, 2008). The clinic’s primary mission is to offer the best daily care to all patients through an integrated clinical practice, education and research. Thus, the fact patient needs come first makes the primary value. Mayo’s value set and mission and make a......

...been an important aspect in commanding and the demand of respect as well as recognition. This has evolved with time, new & modern technologies, fashion, grand car designs and the different types of acquired and preferred tastes in choices of fashion brands & class. Social situations make some of the greatest influences in fashion, style, accessories as well as the type of car you are to purchase. In ‘todays’ era we have an amazing range of cars to choose from and our intrinsic motivation comes from affordability, durability, brand communications, neediness, technology, social media as well social status. As I took a visit to GM Motors in Gaborone to look at some of the most popular car brands & style that Batswana men love to own, The General Manager ‘ Daryl’ described to me 3 different types of drivers we have in Botswana; The Family man; The young and aspiring youthful gentleman and the locally travelled gentleman. This made perfect sense to me because I realized how everyone of those gentlemen are different and part of where their influence in style and fashion may be derived. Fashion and style for men in Botswana used to be one of the nonfactors in consideration, how ever taken back 20 years ago, I remember Batswana men to have been a lot more fashion conscious and forward than women. For example, the infamous farmers kaki jacket is a must have for every farmer whether he is in town for a business meeting with colleagues over the weekend, is driving around the city......

...to prove that there is no God to create the change of universe. The universe is moving, changing and evolving. The favors makes it change are energy and matter. The sun is the biggest source of energy, and dark matter is the most dangerous matter of all. We cannot see it but can capture anything. They are a region of space having a gravitational field so intense that no matter or radiation can escape. This gravitational force has made the change and moving of universe. On the other hands, the argument from religious experience has proved that there are many people of different eras believe that God or supernatural does exist. However, there is no proof about it. It was like people use their love for God to make it become overwhelming knowledge. They believe in God, so they think that God does exist; however, there is nobody can see God until now. Now, the scientist can explain about the change of nature like rain, thunder, wind and everything. So, it means everything is created by nature and physic. There is no God who creates wind or rain like people used to think. With the argument from uncertainty, I think it is not especially persuasive. We cannot even achieve any certainty as to whether or not God exits; nothing can be proved beyond all doubt. For example, I made some errors of reasoning in the past, include simple matters, and based on this argument, there is no occasion be certain that I am not in error again. This is nothing certainty in this argument; it means......
