All budgets for the project have been depleted and yet there are several steps needed to complete the project that require funding. If the budget has been depleted and the project still requires funding, the project leader has to propose a plan to prioritize the tasks that has to be completed without affecting the project. The project leader should be able to figure out which of the customer priorities can be compromised and by how much. The WBS element has to be reviewed and reworked on with the new funding. Associated risks also have to be reviewed in case some of the tasks are eliminated. If the customer is willing to delay the project, because of budget constraints, then the project leader can cut some resources to manage cost and finish the project at a later date. The project leader should encourage the team to use cost effective measures for all the remaining steps of the project. It is important that the project leader motivates the team by appreciating their work completed so far and help them understand that the work they are doing is important and is likely to be successful if they give their best in the last steps of the project and that they will be rewarded fairly for their efforts. New information comes to light that radically affects the project’s scope; for instance, management has recently purchased equipment that functions more effectively than the project team’s solution. When controlling scope changes, project leaders need to be effective negotiators. The project scope and deliverables if well written can be used to negotiate. Wise project leaders understand on one hand the customer’s sense of urgency in performing the project and on the other hand the change management problems that occur with changing the scope at the closing stage. Project leaders need to prioritize the opportunities presented with the scope change and discuss…...

I Think I Am/Am Not an Entrepreneur. I Am a ... Entrepreneur Because...

..."I think I am/am not an entrepreneur. I am a ... entrepreneur because...” 15/9/201 Introduction In this assignment, I will explain as to why I think I am a lifestyle entrepreneur and the reasons as to why I think I am classified as this type of entrepreneur. I will discuss what a lifestyle entrepreneur is as well as the major motivations that form an integral part of the lifestyle entrepreneur’s choice to follow the specified path. The following motivations of autonomy, family and leisure time, passion and intrinsic reward and satisfaction as well as life quality will be discussed at different stages of my assignment. I will also show how some of these motivations integrate together to form a basis for the lifestyle entrepreneur. What is a lifestyle entrepreneur? As noted by Henderson (2002:49), to support a desired lifestyle or provide a family income is reasons as to why a lifestyle entrepreneur will start a new venture. These entrepreneurs also seek independence and control over their own schedule. Whilst Mottiar (2007:67) argues that a lifestyle entrepreneur is concerned with maintaining income at a level sufficient enough to provide them and their family with adequate funds to allow them to enjoy their chosen lifestyle. As can been seen in the above, lifestyle entrepreneurs aim to make as much money as they require to live and maintain the lifestyle of their choice (Janssen-Selvadurai, 2010:187). Important components to the lifestyle entrepreneur that act as......

...Looking at the poem How The Grinch Stole Christmas through an archetypal lens is like looking at it in more of a mythical and creative way. The Grinch, who was an example of an archetype, was someone who hated Christmas and wanted to make everyone’s Christmas unenjoyably in WhoVille. The Grinch scared many Who’s in Who Ville due to his appearance. His green skin, his yellow teeth and ugly snarl made him different from everyone else. The Grinch feels alone and feels the need to take everyone’s happiness away from them because it’s unfair to him that he’s not happy as well. Later on in the poem, we meet Cindy Lou, who was an innocent little girl wondering why the Grinch was at her house taking her Christmas tree, she felt really sad because he was taking away everything they had. She was wondering why he was taking everything but he said that he just wanted to fix the tree, Cindy Lou who trusted the Grinch easily because she grew up in a friendly, trustworthy environment. The Grinch sneaks through the town to take everyone’s gifts so that he can have them for himself. When it is Christmas morning, the Grinch watched the Who’s in who Ville with the expectation of the Who’s to be sad. As he came closer, he realized that the presents and Christmas trees didn’t matter to them; they didn’t care about the materialistic things about Christmas "Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store. / Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!" (Suess, 1957) All the Who’s...

The Thinks Guide to God. (This Is Rubbish I Did It When I Was 15)

...caught my attention as I thought it could challenge me and the way I think about the world. This book also had very good reviews. Personally I didn’t believe in one religion, I believed each religion has very good views. And they aren’t all that much different. While reading the first chapter I enjoyed the detail they went into when analysing the paintings. I would never have look so deeply into the paints and opened my mind into the small feature with such a big point and meaning behind them. I enjoyed reading Aristotle’s views on god. I liked the fact that Aristotle and Plato both have different views and both of which have good points. After learning they both had different views it made me think of all the people in the world and how many people can have different views and beliefs from each other. Although they had different view they still got on… where as in the world to do we have wars for different views. In the second chapter they tell us of the first believing God(s) living in woods, trees, rivers and the earth, fire, water and air; this is something I partly believe in – mostly them living in the highest mountains and the sky… I believe in the gods (like in the film Hercules) I enjoy that the book calls out the view of biologist- the fact they believe god an old man with white bread being worshiped by millions of people across the globe. And the fact the y mocked people when “their understanding is limited, not the concept of God. I enjoyed that the......

Sensei and I

...Sensei wanted to tell his experience to the protagonist “I” as he found that “I” was glad to hear his past and grabbed valuable things out of his experience. If “I” were not the person who was interested at all, sensei definitely did not share his pervious life. When saying that “wrench open my heart pour its blood over you”, sensei was ready to die and told his story to “I”. Sensei hoped that after reading his letter “I” was capable of “learning real lessons from life” (p124). The novel mentioned that sensei had a tragic life. The notion of love can be represented in two ways, family relationship and his lover. First of all, love is vulnerable, especially in terms of money. His uncle was the most trusted person from the memory of sensei’s father so that the uncle could keep the heritage for sensei. However, his uncle stole the heritage and tried every means to convince sensei to marry his daughter in order to dispute heritage. Eventually sensei had to leave his hometown and distrusted people. I think that it transforms “I” to be suspicious of even the closest person. No one would say no to money. The trustworthy person could hurt “I” the most. Love is bright. Despite the fact that sensei did not trust everyone, sensei found someone can talk and fell in love into Okusan. It was not surprised that sensei was still able to love her even after experiencing his uncle’s betrayal. In the article, it said that “I distrusted the human race where money was concerned, but not yet......

When I Think of the Future

Spørgsmålet popper tit op i mit hoved.

What I Used to Think About Art and Artists

...What I Used to Think About Art and Artists When I started taking this class this semester I wasn’t really sure exactly what to expect or which artists we were going to study. When I started this course I used to think that artists, as in painters, were all somewhat strange quiet people with few social skills. From my previous experience most of the people that I knew or knew about were a bit on the strange side. I knew a lot of unknown artists when I was younger and I still know some unknown artists now, it’s just that most of the ones that I know fit that particular stereotype. Rather messy in appearance and kind of closed off from most of society. I used to think that most artists behaved in a somewhat wild manner with wacky thoughts. Being an artist myself, pretty much everyone I knew in my high school art classes were all pretty strange, we were always causing a ruckus. I used to think when artists did art it just kind of happened. I guess I felt like it just came naturally to artists and the magic kind of just happened all on its own, like that it didn’t take a lot of effort to do it. I think that when I was in high school and taking a lot of art classes I just don’t remember thinking to much about what I had to do, I’m sure I probably did, I just don’t remember consciously think about it. I never really thought about what sources there would be for artists other than love, drugs, and alcohol. I guess that it what used to first pop into my mind when I......

Everyone Needs Someone

...During my sophomore year, I was that girl that hid in the bathrooms, sat alone in the library, and walked alone to classes. I am alone, I would repeat that to myself. But deep down, I knew it was my own fault. The beginning of my freshmen year at Rio Linda High School, I started dating, and since I was shy, my social circle was super small so I ended up with a few friends, some which I already knew from long ago. According to some people, freshmen year is the year that you are suppose to know many people, and then you slowly close your social circle. But for me, it was the opposite; I instantly closed it, I even pushed a good friend out of my life. And, when I look back, my freshmen year was over as soon as it started because I barely had any memorable moments. My second year in high school started, and for some odd reason, it felt like I was starting Freshman year all over again because I was still as shy as ever and I barely had any friends, but I had one of my good friends who I lived next door to at the time, Kim. The year started out good, I actually believed that sophomore year would be a fresh start for me, but when second semester hitted, everything fell apart. I started having more family problems. I had boy problems. I had problems with other girls. I moved away from Kim, and we started drifting apart, or some can say I pushed her away because I didn’t want to burden her. “Hey, what’s your name?” I remember Alyssa, a girl I had three classes with......

Thegrinch Stole Christmas

...Theodore Geisel published ‘The Grinch Who Stole Christmas in 1957 (Illinois, 2013). In the 50’s, North America was starting to buy in (literally) to the commercialization of Christmas. The event of reverence and celebration that it had been for over a thousand years was descending into a money-making ploy by the corporations of the world. In fact, the Santa Claus we know today was shaped by the multi-billion dollar corporation, Coca-Cola (Staff, 2012). As we all know, when Dr. Seuss wrote his books, he most often included a theme, or ‘moral of the story’ as a guide for young children to help them learn important values. In his work, “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas”, Dr. Seuss openly protested the commercialization of Christmas. Seuss’s work is very obviously Marxist-based, as it spoke clearly on issues of discrimination, ostracism and misplaced values. Marxism is different than ‘other progressive movements because Marxists always struggle to overcome the manifold forms of domination and exploitation in and through the self-emancipation of the working class’ (Marxists.org). Dr. Seuss could be interpreted as protesting against this exploitation of the public by the capitalists and corporations, by creating a work that states that ““Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas…perhaps…means a little bit more!”” (Geisel, 1957). Seuss, it seems, was of the opinion that the version of Christmas we know now, based on giving and receiving expensive......

Boss I Think Someone Stole Our Customer Data

...Boss, I Think Someone Stole Our Customer Data- Assignment # 5 Name Withheld Strayer University Professor Name Withheld Project Risk Management (BUS 519) December 11th 2011 1. Of the four (4) commentaries that follow the case, select the one (1) that you believe to be the best solution to reporting the plan to address the problem and state why. Of the four commentaries, the one that I believe to be the best solution to address the issues faced by Flayton Electronics is that of James E. Lee. I particularly liked his recommendations because it addressed all the key areas that are necessary in a risk response plan. Lee’s recommendations are typical of contingency planning; according to Heldman (2005), contingency planning is a form of acceptance because if the risk occurs, you are willing to accept the consequences and devise a plan to deal with those consequences. He is in favor of acting with urgency by addressing the affected parties, as the longer it takes for the company to do this will make then appear less credible, Lee also recommended that once the risk is discovered, timing is an important element in implementing a risk response plan to minimize damages. This should be in the form of a prompt public disclosure once adequate information has been gathered; brand restoration should be initiated through public statements to help improve the company’s image; toll-free hotlines should be set up to address customers concerns; loyalty incentives in......

... to apply for and use credit cards on the victim’s name. This is why the credit card companies have come up with a standard called Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCIDSS) and it is designed to meet the problems storing large amounts of credit card data stored online that may be compromised. Banks that performs payment processing for a given merchant, called the acquiring bank, is protective of that business relationship and sensitive to the merchant’s interest. However, the bank is responsible to payment networks like Visa and MasterCard for certifying merchant compliance with payment card industry standards (Wiley, 2010, p.35) We can see that Flayton Electronics was only in compliance with a 75% of PCIDSS as the CIO think is complicated to have 100% when you are constantly upgrading your own technology. Any organization that transmits stores or processes credit card data must be 100% compliance with PCIDSS. The main goal is to protect the sensitive cardholder data. The best method to achieve this goal is not to store the cardholder information persistently after the end of the transaction. Flayton Electronics or any company has an obligation to protect all client information especially credit card information against any cybercrime or attack. Companies do not want to have an instance on their hands where personal client data or company records were compromised. Illegal use of any client information is considered an offense committed against them......

Develop the communication strategy you would take to notify the customers of the potential security breach. Recommend procedures that Flayton Electronics should take to prevent future security breaches http://hbr.org/product/boss-i-think-someone-stole-our-customer-data-harva/an/R0709A-PDF-ENG Flayton Electronics is showing up as a common point of purchase for a large number of fraudulent credit card transactions. It's not clear how responsible the company and its less than airtight systems are for the apparent data breach. Law enforcement wants Flayton to stay mute for now, but customers have come to respect this firm for its straight talk and square deals. A hard-earned reputation is at stake, and the path to preserving it is difficult to see. Four experts comment on this fictional case study in R0709A and R0709Z. James E. Lee, of ChoicePoint, offers lessons from his firm's experience with a large-scale fraud scheme. He advises early and frank external and internal communications, elimination of security weaknesses, and development of a brand-restoration strategy. Bill Boni, of Motorola, stresses prevention: comprehensive risk management for data, full compliance with payment card industry standards, and putting digital experts on staff. For the inadequately prepared Flayton, he suggests consulting an......

Think, Feel and Do: I ♥ You

...THINK, FEEL AND DO: I ♥ YOU “True love waits”. And to simplify this briefly, there are three steps on how to prepare in engaging ourselves in relationship. First, solve unresolved problems. Forgiveness and acceptance of one’s failure must always stay in our hearts so that we can move on from our past. Let your rejection be your key to be a better person. Second, stop believing in the “right person myth”. Looking for the perfect one for us is never true. We may feel deeply in love to that person but as we grow day by day with him/her we will meet lots of his hidden attitude that we don’t know yet. Lastly, start becoming the right person. Take the effort and discipline to be the person, the person you’re looking for. Instead of thinking of having our ideal partner for the future let us think also the other way around, molding ourselves to be like the person we are looking for. I Corinthian chapter 13 verses 4-5 said “Love is PATIENT, love is KIND. it does not ENVY, it does not boast, it is not PROUD, it is not RUDE, it is not SELF-SEEKING.it is not easily ANGERED, it keeps NO RECORD of WRONGS. It always PROTECTS, always TRUSTS, always HOPES, and always PERSEVERES. LOVE NEVER FAILS...” In other words, love is not an easy act it is “sacrificial”. Therefore, before we enter in a relationship we must know first our priorities and ready ourselves in taking that tract. In addition, we must also discern well on what vocation we will pursuing for the future. We must preserve our......

...ability to share this world with what is known as “Artificial Intelligence.” Will they really make our lives easier or will they put the human race completely out of work? Will they ever become smart enough to learn and think for themselves or is it possible that they’ll become “too smart” and one day and take over the world as we know it? Many pieces of literature have been written, and many movies have been released, prophesying the demise of the human race and our damned fate into slavery to the very machines that we’ve created. Though there is a very thin line between the world of science fiction and the presence of science in “our world”, there are a lot of fears that are conceived due to speculations of the unknown and not enough hope in all of the things that we do know! The idea that humans are imperfect and have made mistakes consistently since the beginning of time, of course, isn’t comforting when considering that should we succumb to this ill fate it will be because of our own doing. However, the proven ability of our race being capable of recognizing, analyzing, correcting and improving upon our mistakes is exactly what has gotten us this far. From wars to medicine, from politics to parenting, sometimes we fail but eventually… we always succeed; so I wouldn’t be so quick to count us out of the game just yet. AI: The Beginning The word computer, in a nutshell, “refers to an object that can accept some input and produce some output” (Tyson & Crawford......
