...Nr 2/2009(10) WS P Ó Ł C Z E S N A E K O N O M I A Areti Stringa*, Saimir Sallaku**, Jorida Tabaku*** Individual Characteristics of Entrepreneurs in Transition Countries. The Albanian Case Summary The transition process in Albania, as in other ex-communist countries, stopped the enterprise development. The increasing number of small and medium enterprises is the most promising consequence of the transition process. Several researches in western countries have demonstrated that entrepreneurship involves objective and subjective factors and is interrelated with environmental objective factors and individual subjective ones. Our research examines clear characteristics of the businesses’ analysis, the performance of the entrepreneurs themselves (their background and personal characteristics), their motivation to start a business and the perceptions of the different characteristics and the aspects of the businesses they run. 1. Definition of Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurs Storey (1994) argues that there is no uniformly acceptable definition of small firms due to a variety of factors, including: industry and sector influence on size; yardstick used; and subjective and conflicting statistical data on small and new firms. Bolton Committee (1971) tried to correlate the economic and statistical features and linked those with the industry factor while regarded small firms as: • with relatively small share of market; • managed by owners or part-owners in a......

Life of a Successful Entrepreneur

...Citizenship is a bond that extends beyond basic kinship ties to unite people of different genetic backgrounds, that is, it is more than a clan or extended kinship network. It generally describes the relation between a person and an overall political entity such as a city-state or nation and signifies membership in that body. It is often based on, or a function of, some form of military service or expectation of future military service. It is generally characterized by some form of political participation, although the extent of such participation can vary considerably from minimal duties such as voting to active service in government. And citizenship, throughout history, has often been seen as an ideal state, closely allied with freedom, an important status with legal aspects including rights, and it has sometimes been seen as a bundle of rights or a right to have rights.[3] Last, citizenship almost always has had an element of exclusion, in the sense that citizenship derives meaning, in part, by excluding non-citizens from basic rights and privileges. Overview Contrasting senses of citizenship from ancient times to the present day, according to Peter Zarrow.[4] While a general definition of citizenship is membership in a political society or group, citizenship as a concept is difficult to define. Thinkers as far back as Aristotle realized that there was no agreed-upon definition of citizenship.[5]:p.17 And modern thinkers, as well, agree that the history of citizenship......

The idea is to provide you with guidelines you can follow which will help you get down to the business of becoming a serious, successful student. Characteristics of Successful Online Learners

...Characteristics of Successful Online Learners Christi McCook-Babaz INFT 101-B23 Characteristics of Successful Online Learners With today's technology, anyone can engage in online learning. Unfortunately, not everyone will be successful in doing so. Various studies show that people who are self-disciplined self-motivated, organized, have higher than average thinking skills and can read and write exceptionally well are more likely to succeed in an online classroom than others (Pallof and Pratt, 2001). We must combine these traits with the abilities that the Lord has given us to succeed in the online classroom. In the article “Factors Driving Learning Success in Online Professional Development” by Phu, Vien, Lan and Jude (2014), the authors look at several studies focusing on adult online learners and what factors are common among those who are success in the online learning environment. The majority of the learners that were surveyed (Beaudion, Kutz, & Eden, 2009) and researchers quoted stated that success mainly depended on self-efficacy more than anything else. Researchers (Pallof and Pratt, 2001; Boyd, 2004) listed the factors that they determined to be the most important predictors of learner success. Several things play a key role in online learner success. Self-discipline, including being able to work without a lot of structure or supervision and possessing excellent time-management skills and essential. Demonstrating higher than average thinking,......

Characteristics of Successful Students

...Topic 1: Discussion Question 1 Read Lake and von Baeyer's article, “Tips for Successful Students." Also, review the characteristics of a successful student as explained in the lecture. As you consider these, which is your strongest characteristic? Why? How will this characteristic help you to become a successful student in your program of study? I have always said that I am responsible for my own education. We only get out of school what we put into it. The instructor is there to present the information and provides a framework for understanding. It is my job as a student to fill in the spaces with my own understanding. I can clarify my understanding by asking questions, which I am poor at doing, and by doing research, which I do very well. I am not a good questioner. So, I really feel that my strongest characteristic is my responsibility and accountability. The best instructors I’ve had are the ones deemed “intimidating”. The same is true for my work environment. The best leaders were always a little scary to me. But once I got past the intimidation factor, I found that they actually had the most things to teach me. And that is when I would ask questions! Secondary characteristics that will help me be successful are my time management and note taking. I am forever writing things down. I find that if I hand write something, there is a connection between the writing of the information and my recall of it later. So if I want to remember something, I write it down. That......
