Internet Information

...value of the information you find on the internet’? Well, there are many ways to assess the information you find on the internet. The first of many ways that I use to assess this information is to check the author information, meaning is the author trustworthy. To do this I often will see if the author has background in the subject that I am researching. I think that by doing this the information written by those who do not have any experience in the subject will not be on my radar. This also allows you to determine whether or not an author is authentic. Another important thing to check to see if information is reliable is to check the date, checking the date will help you determine if the information is up-to-date and if it has been updated recently. I think that by making sure the information is not outdated will help the credibility of this information. thing to check to see if information is reliable is to check the date, checking the date will help you determine if the information is up-to-date and if it has been updated recently. I think that by making sure the information is not outdated will help the credibility of this information. Another thing you would need to check is the website dependable. When I say ‘dependable’ I mean is the website easily edited by others who do not have any experience in the field? Has this information edited recently, and by whom? When using the internet you must be cautious of the information you read because some information could be......

Smith’s Information Services

...Smith’s Information Services Data Outsourcing Analysis and Recommendation   Executive Summary Smith’s Information Services is an information Services Company located in Lexington, Massachusetts. The company is a growing company with a good future outlook of growing the business. However, the company has growing costs connected to costs of running the data centers. The company has a goal to reduce overhead and possibly utilizing outside services to reach that goal. Smith’s Information Services goals falls within the typical outsourcing services offered by IT outsourcing companies (data center operations). The company’s assessment is that running a data center is getting cost prohibitive and that is backed up by studies done by the U.S. Department of Energy. Data Center Energy Analysis Data centers can consume up to 100 times more energy versus a regular office building. In addition, less that 15% of our energy consumption is being used towards the use of information technology equipment. The energy that data centers like ours are using has doubled from 2000 to 2006. That equates to 60 billion kilowatt hours per year. The projection says that number doubled again in 2011. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) prepared Figure 2 below to outline data center energy consumption from 2000 through 2006 with multiple scenarios depicting continued growth through 2011. You are right when you assume that the Internet makes my life much easier when I need to find information on anything. Although the Internet is a vast resource of information but not all of the information available is correct. Whatever I do Internet search I asked myself specific questions about the information that I find. I asked myself these questions to assess and evaluate the value of the information I found during a search. For example I would check the domain of the website and its affiliations. I would also ask myself if I notice any bias on the website this happens often because people will put misinformation out there in order to sell or promote their business and or interest. Also I check multiple sources in order to ensure that the information that I just found. “Telecommunications vs. Information Services”

...is how to create, implement, and enforce regulations for information services, more specifically…the internet. The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) is the Government appointed regulating body that would be responsible for completing the aforementioned task. The reason there is virtually no regulation of the internet is because there is virtually no legislation concerning the service. However, there is legislation acknowledging the internet and the need to promote its development and availability to the public. The internet is typically made available to the public via telecommunications providers in the form of an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Telecom providers are subject to Federal Regulations, and the FCC creates and enforces legislation concerning telecom providers. Telecommunications is an all-encompassing term for providers that offer either television, radio/communication, or telephone services, including internet services or any combination of the aforementioned. The primary piece of legislation used to regulate telecom providers is the Telecommunication Act of 1996. This paper will examine the characteristics, and point out similarities, of telecommunications providers and information services such as the internet. Additionally, regulation of telecommunications and the lack of regulation for information services will be addressed. Finally, recommendations for potential ways to regulate information services, the potential legal ramifications of such......

Internet and Information Paper

...Dear friend, The internet is a very useful and big world. A person can do pretty much anything they want on the internet and it is just at the tip of their fingers. A person can watch television and movies via the World Wide Web. A person can shop for clothing, jewelry, food, books, and music from the comfort of their own home. Students even have the ability to go to class through the internet and read the books that are needed. Those students, along with any student with internet access, can conduct research for any given reason and expand the horizon of their knowledge. People can obtain information that used to be available only through books, which were only available from libraries. People can even communicate with others that live next door or around the world in an instant, which was not an option for them before the internet. The internet is a very fascinating world of its own. There is a large amount of information available and many things that one can do on the internet. Deciphering what is fact and what is the opinion of someone else is a very tricky thing when the information is obtained from the internet. When conducting research, a person should look at the author of the information. If the writer has no history writing anything, there is a very good chance that it is not reliable. One should also stay clear of blogs and social media sites when getting information, as these are generally the opinion of those writing it. There are also websites that can be......

Internet Information Overload & Consumer Choice

...The term information overload is used to refer to a state of affairs whereby there is a disparity between the volume of information available to a person and the ability of that person to process that information. The inability to process all the available information can lead to dysfunctional consequences. The subject has been the focus of various studies that have focused on information overload in relation to: input overload, sensory overload, cognitive overload, content overload, information fatigue syndrome and the availability of excess information. From an empirical perspective the level of informational overload may be denoted by the volume of information which is available to a person and the ability of that person to process the information which is inherently affected by storage capacity limits and the human brain processing limits. Studies have shown that consumers who use the internet and other electronic applications that help in purchase decision making like comparison shopping agents may be overcome by the quantity of information that is available to them with regard to choice decision making, resulting in the inability of the consumer to make a decision (Malhotra 436). The consumer may lack the processing capacity to make a choice or ultimately may be dissatisfied with the choice they have made because of the existence of so many choices. In the last decade the use of the internet has increased significantly and an aspect that has come with this growth is......

Internet and Information Paper

...Hello Pen Pal! Hope you are doing well. Yes, the Internet can be quite fascinating with the amount of information that is available with the click of a button on your computer. Being able to read and learn about various topics without having to go to a library and do research is very convenient. One can learn just about anything or find just about anything with an internet search. From purchasing furniture, to scheduling appointments, to reading news articles and ordering take-out food, the internet is a marvelous tool to use! To answer your question of “How do you assess the value of all this information you find on the Internet,” often times can be challenging. Because the internet has so much information for many resources from around the world, it is crucial to develop skills to accurately access the information you are reviewing. When you use sources at a library, each one has been reviewed and evaluated to ensure the material presented is authentic and not fabricated. When one uses the internet, none of these screens are applicable. In essence there are no buffers with the information available and anyone can post regardless of its truth or not. The main way to ensure the information one is reviewing is credible is to use the following steps: • Authorship • Publisher • Bias • Accuracy of details With verifying Authorship, one should be researching the person who wrote the article especially if it is an author that the reader does not......

Internet Service Provider (Isp)

...ISP An internet service provider (ISP) is an organization that provides services for accessing, using, or participating in the Internet. So ISP is faucet of Internet, it is the most effective and the most careful organization for Internet management. What ISP do be directly related to the network and national security. Some people think ISP should monitor and detect network information that it provides, and making sure that whether sends threatening or bullying emails, or stores or downloads child pornographic material, or downloads illegally obtained music or movies, even to delete those illegal information from the network. However, people do not realize, ISP is not authority to do these things, they are not law enforcement. Their judgment is not legally binding for which one is legal or illegal. If the government allows the ISP manage network in that way, and do not monitor the ISP effectively, ISP is likely to steal user privacy and control network information. So I think the networks need to regulate, but not by ISP. According DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act), what ISP needs to do is: “Not obtain financial benefit from the infringement not have actual knowledge or awareness of facts indicating infringing transmissions upon learning of an infringing transmission, act quickly to remove or disable access to the infringing transmission. Implement a policy of terminating the accounts of subscribers who are repeat infringes.(When Is)" Meanwhile, in order to protect......

Computer Hope.com) As researched by (Robert Harris) “Information is everywhere on the Internet existing in large quantities and continuously being created and revised. Filtering Information from the Internet

...Going forward, where there were shows like Yu-Gi-Oh, Dragon Ball Z, and Sonic X, there will be “One Magnificent Morning”, a block of live-action educational programming * NBC ditched Saturday morning cartoons in 1992, CBS followed suit not long after. ABC dropped its run in 2004. The CW was the last man standing, so to speak. * Saturday morning cartoons were killed by a combination of cable, streaming, and the FCC. * The FCC mandated that broadcast networks provide a minimum of 3hrs of “educational” programming every week. * With the addition of many new cable and satellite channels that don’t have to abide by FCC regulations, kids can get their cartoon fix any hour of the day. * Top it all off with streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc. and you’ve got a truly spoiled generation. Article 2: Could ‘Wolverine’ Be At The Center Of A Sharing Plan Between Marvel And Fox? (http://uproxx.com/gammasquad/2014/10/could-spider-man-be-at-the-center-of-a-sharing-plan-between-marvel-and-sony/) * The latest rumor, much like the whole “Avengers 3 will be split into two movies” rumor, this one involves Days of Future Past star Wolverine. It has been hinted at before, but now seems to be heating up. Fox is now willing to open up and share X-Men icon Wolverine with Marvel so that he can be included in a bigger cinematic plan. * In a recent interview, producer Simon Kinberg has been quoted as saying “While I can’t get the confirmations......

Nhs Internet Services Research

...NHS Internet Services Research: An Annotated Bibliography First technology solutions: Satellite Internet Business Internet: Select Plans. (n.d.). Retrieved November 24, 2014, from http://business.hughesnet.com/bi/resources/business-internet-gen4 The HughesNet website explains the viability of satellite internet service for businesses. The information provided demonstrates how the HughesNet Gen4 service can provide high speed internet access for multiple remote branch offices. HughesNet demonstrates how it compares favorably to other services such as cable or DSL (digital subscriber line) internet. Satellite Internet has the ability to synchronously transmit and receive data from a small client satellite dish on Earth and communicate with an orbiting satellite above Earth's equator. The orbiting satellite transmits and receives its information to a ground server on Earth called the Network Operations Center (NOC). The NOC is connected to the Internet or private network. All communication made from a satellite dish connection to the Internet must flow through the ground server. HughesNet satellite service has the flexible capabilities of reaching every office in the NHS network as well as any new locations that NHS may add as they expand their operations. Satellite service provides speeds of up to 15 Mbps, which exceeds the necessary speed required to transfer large 100MB files between each NHS office and their partner in New York City.
