Flowchart: Keyless entry fob
Operations management has benefits such as cost reduction, increased profitability, and increased customer satisfaction. For a global company with different suppliers, a well-defined process design can mean the difference between profit and loss. A flowchart gives a simplified, easy to understand overview of the processes. From this every step can be analyzed to determine possible improvements in the process design.
The flowchart
For this flowchart (attachment 1), the control chip (component A) will be supplied by China, the rolling transmitter (component B) by Japan, the plastic housing (component C), by Taiwan, and the key ring (component D), by India. Using standard flowchart symbols, as described by Chase, Jacobs & Aquilano (2006), a waiting area, as depicted by the inverted triangle, will be receiving all parts ordered, to be present before assembly of the keyless entry fob can begin. This can also act as a buffer zone for parts, to minimize the negative effects of poor supply by the manufacturer.
Factors affecting the process design.
Different factors that may affect the design process could be the supply time by different suppliers, and the on-hand quantity of each of the different components. If a specific supplier cannot deliver a component timeously, vendors need to be changed, or a larger buffer time period may need to be introduced (although this may have a negative effect on company cashflow).
Quantitative measurement
The success of the flowchart can be measured by measuring the time from placing the order, to successful completion of the keyless entry fob, and minimizing out-of-stock situations both to customers, and from suppliers. This is in line with Bearnon (1998), who states that measures can be used categorize cost or profit measurement, and measure of customer satisfaction.

...current can flow into the op-amp. This is due to the grounding at the non-inverting terminal and result in the 0V in the inverting terminal. During the experiment, one of the procedures is to use the dc offset to make sure no dc voltage is in Vin. This is because the input offset voltage is not zero or another word, the supplied voltage work together with AC and DC. Hence, the dc input voltage will be integrated and the output voltage starts to drift. Part 4.6 An op-amp without a feedback resistance is original a difference amplifier. The difference op-amp produces the algebraic difference between the two input signals. Few cases can be done in the difference op-amp. Example like the two input voltage have the same magnitude and the output voltage will be zero which will be the most common. There are no amplification take places when all the external resistors value is the same. Hence, the amplification of the difference op-amp is depends on the ratio of the resistor value. V+ V- B A The output voltage equation can be derived using super position theorem and voltage divider. At first, we will ground the V2 causing the non-inverting terminal and inverting terminal to be zero volt. Hence, at node A Vo1=-R2R1V1 When V1 is grounded, V+=R2R1+R2V2 V+=V- Vo2=1+R2R1V- Vo2=(1+R2R1)R2R1+R2V2 V02=R2R1V2 By superposition theorem Vo=Vo1+Vo2 Vo=-R2R1V1+R2R1V2 Vo=R2R1(V2-V1) Part 4.1 During the experiment, one of the simplest inverting op-amp was build. Methods of Entry

...Methods of entry A well planned market-entry strategy entails an operator greater management over its market initiation and launch expectations, thus providing assurance to meeting financial targets. Businesses nowadays attempt to accomphlish increment in sales, brand awareness and business sustainability by breaking into new markets. Formulation of a market entry strategy requires an in depth analysis of potential competitors and likely customers. There are numerous options to enter a market. The list comprises of direct and indirect exporting, joint ventures, Merger & acquisitions or licensing of technology abroad. The risks & benefits associated with each method are attributed to several elements. This includes the nature of the product or service you produce, the requirements for product or service support, and the foreign economic, political, business and cultural environment that the firm is seeking to enter. The ideal strategy is highly reliant on the firm's level of resources and commitment, and the level of risk that the firm is willing to take. Many businesses select exporting as their entry strategy. Start-up costs and risks are kept to its minimal, and it is less complicated in comparison to the other methods. Exporting can be performed directly or indirectly. Via the direct method, the business extends its business plan to include exporting as a new activity and gathers knowledge and workers to execute the plan, i.e., locating foreign buyers, labelling product...

...Bottlenecks in a Process Johnson OPS/571 March 17, 2013 Bottlenecks in a Process Information gathered during week one of class was helpful in identifying bottlenecks on the process. Recognizing the bottlenecks that will hinder an individual from achieving daily goals can be a tool to identify ways to manage time better. The Goldratt’s theory of constraint is a dependable theory to identify and successfully handle bottlenecks. Identify Bottlenecks in the Process According to "Theory of Constraints" (2013), “TOC is systemic and strives to identify constraints to system success and to effect the changes necessary to remove them” (Theory of Constraints). The purpose of the process is to manage time wiser so daily goals will be achieved. When time is not manageable an individual will believe there is not enough time within a day to accomplish tasks. The bottlenecks that will hinder accomplishing daily goals would be watching television too much, spending too much time on curricular activities, not creating a “To Do” list, lack of sleep, and exercise. The main bottleneck is not using time wisely to accomplish daily goals successfully. In the Goldratt’s theory of constraints, logical thinking process is one way to help individuals to deal with bottlenecks in a process. According to "Theory of Constraints" (2013), “the thinking process assists with working through the change process by identifying the following: what to change, what to change to, and how to......

Journal Entries

...A. Journal Entries When the first time I entered L’Cokelat Day Spa, the employees greeted me politely with a big smile. Even though the place is not so big, but I felt a good environment there. The place is simply decorated, but the simplicity makes me comfortable in there plus the hospitality of the employees which makes me happy coming to L’Cokelat Day Spa. It was 12.30 pm, so there was no other customer there associated with the lunch time and the weekdays. Besides, I smelled a good flavor of chocolate which makes my body and mind relaxed since I entered. No need to wait for a long time, the receptionist directly showed me the menu of the variety of services. But, I disappointed with the menu, because the menu did not look good and well designed, it was just a printed menu on a white paper covered with a thick cover. Fortunately, the receptionist was able to explain about the services. She offered me lot of varieties completely. They have local and imported products. Since it was my first time, I could not decide which service suited my needs well. Luckily, the receptionist asked my need and took initiative to ask me to try the sample of the product which enabled me to smell and try on the product on my skin. I felt so happy and satisfied with the sample, because directly after tested it, I could choose which the best product and service is for me. In that visit, I chose “Tropical Salt Mousse Papine” in order to satisfied my need to get the complete package of spa with......

Entry of Goods

...ENTRY OF GOODS 2. Entry Process When a shipment reaches the United States, the importer of record (i.e., the owner, purchaser, or licensed customs broker designated by the owner, purchaser, or consignee) will file entry documents for the goods with the port director at the goods' port of entry. Imported goods are not legally entered until after the shipment has arrived within the port of entry, delivery of the merchandise has been authorized by CBP, and estimated duties have been paid. It is the importer of record's responsibility to arrange for examination and release of the goods. Pursuant to 19 U.S.C. 1484, the importer of record must use reasonable care in making entry. NOTE : In addition to contacting CBP, importers should contact other agencies when questions arise about particular commodities. For example, questions about products regulated by the Food and Drug Administration should be forwarded to the nearest FDA district office (check local phone book under U.S. government listings) or to the Import Division, FDA Headquarters, 301.443.6553. The sa me is true for alcohol, tobacco, firearms, wildlife products (furs, skins, shells), motor vehicles, and other products and merchandise regulated by the other federal agencies for which CBP enforces entry laws. Appropriate agencies are identified on page 197. Addresses and phone numbers for these agencies are listed in the appendix. Goods may be entered for consumption, entered for......

Re Entry

...Greg Martin Re – Entry Paper CJ – 105 The trip we took to the re – entry center was very interesting. It’s pretty cool that Kent County is trying to help repeated offenders get going in the right direction. In fact they are one of six in the country that are doing good things in Kent County to safer. Doing this may prevent offenders for repeating again and bettering themselves. One thing that really caught my eye was how different the girls section was compared to the guys. In the girls section it seemed a lot nicer and really colorful. They were more talkative and seemed to do a lot of things together. In the guys section it wasn’t as clean or doctored like the girls. They didn’t interact very much. They kind of seemed like they just want to do their time and be out of there. I feel that many of the offenders in there will try and better their lives. But I am sure that there are some that will go down the wrong road again. Another thing that was interesting was how young some of the offenders were. I didn’t really noticed in the guys section but in the girls section there were many that looked younger than me. It just makes me wonder how such young people are being put into jail or re – entry center. I feel it’s who they hang out with or how there where brought up. If half the people in the re-entry center would think before they acted, they wouldn’t be where they are now. All in all, I found the trip to be very interesting and beneficial. I am glad to see......

Cif Fob International Sales

...the buyer was securing goods from an overseas merchant so he has to apply for the export licence, because he alone knows full facts regarding the destination of the goods.”(33 Brandt & co. v Morris &co. Ltd. [1917] 2 K.B. 784) On the other hand, if the seller is in a better position than the buyer, he is responsible to provide a licence. Under the CIF contract, it is also seller's responsibility to provide an export licence. CIF contracts are generally attractive to both the seller and the buyer. As far as the seller is concerned, he can charge a higher price taking into account the extra services that is obtaining shipping space and insurance he provides. His margin of profit in a CIF contract could be substationally higher than in an FoB contracts since he may be able to obtainreasonable rates for freight and insurance depending on the prevailing economic conditions. The seller usually gets paid for the goods before their arrival at the destination, since payment for the goodsbefore their arrival at the destinationsince payment for the goods in CIF contracts often takes place when the documents are tendered to the buyer or to the bank in the event of a documentary credit arrangement between the seller and the buyer. However, it must be noted that payment does not always take place against tender of documents. The parties may have agreed to deferred payment credit. Journal Entry

...Journal Entry HIS/110 The Spanish migration to North America was an interesting topic in this week that piqued my interest. Learning more about this topic in the second chapter of US History through 1877 was a good starting point to keep my attention because it is something that I have been fascinated with beforehand. I used the artwork from this chapter because it is beautiful and seems to tell an excellent story of migration and the survival skills that were needed in this day in age. I researched more about the Spanish conquistador and was able to read on "Came Men on Horses: The Conquistador Expeditions of Francisco Vazquez de Coronado and Don Juan de Onate". This book speaks of any myths that may have been written or spoken of about the way the conquest of America. The Spanish was the first Europeans to enter the America Southwest. Stories about the city of Gold is what lured in a lot of people in hopes of riches. The conquistadors were fighting the decision to search for the city of gold or not. They did not want to have the burden on their shoulders of not attempting to search for it, and someone else find it if it deemed to be true. There were seven cities that were expected to contain gold for the conquistadors to search out. The conquistadors depended on navigation when it came to their needs of survival. This would be of great service to them when it comes to finding their way to their destination...

Double Entry

...Double Entry “[Accounting] now has the potential to make or break the planet” (White p. 8). That is the tone the Jane Gleeson-White used to set the mood of the book. You had warned me that she would be “preachy” in the end of the book, but I didn’t know how preachy. I will cover that in the end of this paper. White explores the origins of double entry in a rather interesting way. She makes you feel that accounting is the most important subject that man has ever created and we owe everything we enjoy to all accountants. She does an excellent job explaining the history and pioneering work of Luca Pacioli. In total the book was very interesting and left me feeling like I had chosen a major that will change the world. White starts the book off with explaining the history of accounting and how we owe any human achievement to accounting. “It now appears that writing, one of the greatest human accomplishments, was invented by accountants” (White p. 11). The early Athenian civilization is known for the world’s first democracy. White states that accounting “and freedom of financial information were considered essential for running the world’s first democracy” (White p. 15). Within the first 20 pages she has basically made the argument that accounting is the reason we have the constitution and democracy. I do agree that there is some basis for her argument, but she does give an extensive history and progression of the accounting system. She shows how Italy became the birthplace......

Riordan’s mission statement states that it’s focus is to “Six Sigma, leading edge R&D and exceeding ISO standards” (Riordan Mfg. Internet, home page, 2014). Riordan’s fan manufacturing operation is located in Hangzhou, China. Team D will evaluate the Riordan’s fan manufacturing supply chain design and perform a comprehensive evaluation of the operational effectiveness of the supply chain. Manufacturing Strategy Riordan’s Intranet states, that the Hangzhou plant bases its forecasts by “taking the average of sales for the last three years and extrapolating it into the next year” (Riordan, Operations, Hangzhou, China, 2014, p. 1 para 4). Riordan’s use of this approach has lead to a 93 percent on-time delivery rate. Team D believes that the information regarding Riordan’s manufacturing strategy, taken from the firm’s intranet website is an indication that it employs a “Stable Workforce-Variable Work Hours” production planning strategy. This strategy varies the number of hours worked through flexible work schedules or overtime to match the production quantities to orders” (Jacobs & Chase, 2011, pg. 534). It helps assure that the workforce has continuity which helps with employee morale. It is extremely important for employees to feel secure in their work environment. Many workers face everyday pressure on their jobs and in their......

Negotiating an Entry

...successful for me if I did not encounter the mishaps that I did before my examinations. I have become despondent and lost all my enthusiasm but since the module is compulsory I registered once more and hope this time will prove successful Negotiating an Entry I had to think of an organization to negotiate an entry. In the little town where I live it is not very easy since the guidelines stipulate that it should be within an organization which is community based, non-governmental and a place where people meet with one another. There are places that meet the criterion but these are a component of the local churches. Dominies and other elders in the churches usually counsel their flock and do not encourage people such as future counselors to tread on their territory. Assignment two requires students to return to the organization to interview the professional counselor concerned with the organization and church priests have their own opinions regarding scientific knowledge. After much contemplation I decided to approach the old age home called Eliza Lidel. I drive past this home every morning and afternoon whilst taking and fetching the children from school. This is how I came up with the idea of negotiating an entry with the home. I considered that if not all, at least some of the old folk gather together and share their experiences with each other. The Old Age Home The Eliza Lidel Old Age Home was built on land donated by the Lidel Family Trust about fifty......
