...According to our text, defined by the American Association of Advertising Agencies, integrated marketing communications (IMC) is a concept of marketing communications planning that recognizes the added value of a comprehensive plan. This plan evaluates the strategic roles of a variety of communications disciplines such as general advertising, direct response, sales promotions, and public relations and combines these disciplines to provide clarity, consistency, and maximum impact through the seamless integration of messages. Unfortunately, many companies still rely on one or two communications tools. This practice persists in spite of the fragmenting of mass-marketing into a multitude of mini markets each requiring its own approach; the proliferation of new types of media; and the growing sophistication of consumers. Graves Enterprises wants to move away from relying on the traditional one or two communications tools and wants to take to focus more efforts in developing their consumer products area and use integrated marketing communications (IMC) as the center for success. I have reached out to Joshua Edwards, Marketing Director: Consumer Products to gather some ideas on how using this approach can further assist us. All of his ideas are great, however I am concerned about the impacts this will have on the cash cow, the commercial products. Currently there are budget constraints and the ideas presented are quite expensive. I would need to ask him, “What resources were...

Contempory Issues in Mhr

...Contemporary issues in MHR. Downsizing Downsizing, sacking, layoffs, firing and redundancy are many of the terms used when an organisation plans to trim the number of its total workforce. Unfortuntanately, this has been an all to familiar word for many people, in the wake of the global financial crisis. Hardly a week goes by without been confronted by yet another news of companies laying off employeees or cutting down on costs. Organisations chose to downsize their staff based on various factors, some of which could be external or internal. The most common reasons are: * mergers & acquisitions-which create excess * loss of market share, strong competition * Low growth rate * Shareholders pressure to increase profits * Econimoic downturn * Bad management Mergers and acquisitions – A merger is basically when two companies decide to join their combined activities to form one company, in order to create synergies which would benefit both companies. The two combining companies do not necessarily have to be in same industry. An acquisition is the taking or buying over of one company by the other. Loss of market share- could occur due to stronger competition from new competitors or old competitors. Low growth rate- The industry could have reached its peak resulting in no future possibility to grow. Shareholder pressure- When stockholders demand better return value for their shares in the company. A profitable company could still face......

...24765_AUDIT_COMMISSION 8/3/07 09:31 Page 1 www.thetimes100.co.uk Flexible working patterns at the Audit Commission Introduction CURRICULUM TOPICS • Contemporary work patterns • Business activity • Human Resource management • Roles in an organisation Today’s working world is dramatically different from that of the past. Charles Handy in his book The Future of Work (1984), warned that the old patterns of work were breaking down and that new ways of working were on their way. He was right. Handy believed that modern organisations need to be flexible so that they can adapt quickly to the changing pressures that they face. Advances in information and communications technologies have helped many businesses to: i. provide opportunities for the business to become a more inclusive employer through the development of homeworking ii. motivate workers through more flexible work practices. This case study shows how the Audit Commission has developed and implemented flexible work practices to improve its services and meet the changing needs of its staff. The work of the Audit Commission is varied. An ‘audit’ has two main elements. It involves: i. a formal examination of a set of accounts to see if they are true and fair ii. a checking of quality and efficiency. The Audit Commission investigates services in the public sector. The finance for these services comes from taxes and other sources. It ensures that this money is used properly. The range......

...Running head: DEFINING A COMMUNICATION PLAN Defining a Communication Plan Keller Graduate School of Management Integrated marketing communications is a concept of marketing communications planning that recognizes the added value of a comprehensive plan. In a conversation with my colleagues, I learned when our companies create IMC's they sometimes forget about how important communication is when it comes to bringing in different companies. Graves Enterprise has to keep in mind that it is eight steps to involve developing effective communications. We must first identify our audience. We must know what audience we want to target. Then determine the communications objective, design the communications, select the communications channels, establish the total communications budget, decide on the communications mix, measure the communications results, and manage the integrated marketing communications process. When creating an IMC the major goal should be to create effective and efficient communication programs so that communications are truly integrated. Philip Kolter lists six factors to determine whether communication is being integrated properly. The six factors are coverage, contribution, commonality, complementarily, versatility, and cost. All these factors are important to make sure Graves Enterprise reaches their goal of success. We have to provide a lot of benefits as well as efforts. Creating a good IMC opens doors for competitive advantage,......

Philosophies toward the marketplace, as in Selling, Marketing, Product, Societal; differences among these approaches, how success is measured; examples. (TCO A) The marketing mix is probably the most famous marketing term. Its elements are the basic, tactical components of a marketing plan. Marketing mix elements are the 4 P’s: price, place, product, and promotion (sometimes a 5th P: people). The 4 C’s: customer solution, customer cost, convenience, and communication. The offer you make to you customer can be altered by varying the mix elements. So for a high profile brand, increase the focus on promotion and desensitize the weight given to price.
