The movie “The Monsters Ball” is a romantic drama film. This is about a young black woman Leticia (Halle Berry) who is a single mother to an obsessed son Tyrell (Coronji Calhoun) and who his father Lawrence Musgrove (Sean Combs) is on death row. They were very both artistic artists. Monster's Ball is a very dark movie, and it's definitely not for kids. It's such an ugly depiction of life that it made me cringe at times. A lot has been said about its graphic sex scene. Well, I didn't think it was too graphic, but it was starkly realistic and completely not glamorous.
Like the rest of the film, it was ugly. And like most of the film, it was unflinchingly real. Leticia is struggling financially to raise their son while her husband is in prison on death row. She eventually took a job working as a waitress at a diner to make ends meet. Which resulted in her sons Tyrell death one night when they were leaving the diner her son was struck by car. “The Monsters Ball”.
And when Leticia meets Hank (Billy Bob Thornton) who stops on the side of the rode to help her take her son to the hospital which he later died. “The Monsters Ball”. And from that night Leticia and Hank went their separate ways until one night Hank sees her leaving from the diner and gave her a ride home which resulted to wild sex. “The Monsters Ball”.
After that night Leticia went on with the sorrows of losing her husband and son dealing with it the best way that she could. And the only way she knew how was going back to her domestic ways which was drinking her problems away. She eventually lost her job dwelling in her pain in sorrow. But once again she reunited with Hank who gave her another ride home.
As he was taking Leticia home he was trying to make her feel…...

After all Precious still has dreams for her life. She is fantasising about being a singer, model or just being a famous celebrity. During the movie, you see small clips of Precious imagination. The clips are very bright, happy and colourful compared to the rest of the movie. I believe these fantasies, and the light setting in them are a symbols for Precious hope for the future. But at the same time the happy bright dreams is a reflection of Precious true personality, hidden behind all of her anger and sadness. She is desperately hoping that one day someone will break trough to her, or she will break trough to someone. Her life is grey and sad, and these dreams are her way of holding on. The Dark Knight Movie

...their importance in the film industry. Out of all the movies I have seen, the only one that had emotional impact with me was the 2008 film, Batman – The Dark Knight. The movie shows the dangerous impact of criminals in Gotham city and how to deal with it. Batman, Bruce Wayne was played by (Christian Bale). Bruce with out the batman suit is a rich and carless guy who has one goal in life “Girls”. However, the real Batman is very controversy to this, he acts as an uncovered honor hero who wants to protect Gotham city from criminals, especially the Joker (Heath Ledger). The joker has nothing important in his life. Everything is worthless he killed for only one purpose, fun. The joker started in the movie by interrupt a group of criminals who are scared by the new Gotham’s hero, Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) the district attorney who is aiming to be the next governor, and if he reduces the amount of crimes in Gotham city he may have a better chance to be the next governor. However, after an incident made by the Joker Harvey’s face was burned, also his mind too was burned with criminal thoughts. The Batman and lt. Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) decided to cover Harvey’s last attempts as a criminal and let him die with an honor. In addition, Harvey and Bruce both have some emotion to Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal). The movie shows great fights between the two main characters Batman and The Joker. Batman wanted the most to arrest the Joker and brings him to the justice. However, the......

He then rehires her and they talk about what has been happening with some of the people that are living where they have been affected by the hexavalent chromium. The director is the one that interprets the script into their own vision and then decides the final look of the whole film with the production designer and cinematographer. The director will also be the one that is directing the actors as well as the action while it is being shot (Goodykoontz, 2011, Ch. 7)." "The directors are not only the ones......

Man with a Movie Camera

...The groundbreaking silent documentary film "Man with a Movie Camera" was made in 1929 by a Russian filmmaker Dziga Vertov (real name Dennis Kaufman). Edited by his wife Elizaveta Svilova and his brother Mikhail Kaufman, the cinematographer. Vertov belonged to a movement of filmmakers known as the Kinoks. Man with a Movie Camera shows the urban life of three cities in Russia; Moscow, Kiev and Odessa. The film covers the 24 hours of a day which was actually filmed in three years. It shows the daily routine of the citizens at work and in their free time. The camera seems to go everywhere, covering street life as well as a woman getting out of bed and getting dressed. In 2012, Sight and Sound poll, film critics voted "Man with a Movie Camera" the 8th best film ever made. In the opening of the film, Vertov shows the city asleep, machines idle and empty streets. He then presents a man with a movie camera who rises before the city and captures the city awakening. Vertov shows different types of transportation that take laborers to work, like trains, buses and automobiles. Vertov had no intensions of making this film as a regular movie, he shot every scene separately. Elizaveta worked on all the clips, edit it and put in the order. He filmed Man with a Movie Camera with a candid camera, filming undercover or from a distance. This film is famous for the range of cinematic techniques, Dziga invents, deploys or develops, such as double exposure, Dutch angles, fast motion, slow......

...Metaphor for Telling It has been countless years since I have watched a movie about Native Americans, and even longer since I have witnessed a decent one. Most films on the subject of the Native American people are often set in the past and are habitually on the subject of brave Indian warriors. I had never viewed a Native American motion picture filmed in a present day setting, dealing with contemporary issues until I watched Smoke Signals. In the movie Smoke Signals, co-producer and scriptwriter Sherman Alexie uses unexpected humor, numerous significant flashbacks, and modernized Native American storytelling traditions to best narrate his story and the historical plight of Native Americans. First of all, Alexie employs wit by mocking stereotypical reservation life, the frequently biased film industry, and even his own people, the Native Americans. From the opening scene as tribal meteorologist and traffic reporter Lester Falls Apart covers his seemingly uneventful daily traffic report, as he has for the last twenty-six years, from the rooftop of his broken down KREZ van, we are introduced to the odd and amusing way of life on the “rez.” In another scene, Victor and Thomas are embarking on their solemn journey and are offered a ride by Thelma and Lucy driving down the road in reverse; again, it is suggested that they exist in a somewhat backwards nation. In addition, Alexie is quick to taunt the movie industry by belittling white cowboy heroes; he even goes so far......

...4th February 2013 4 February 2013 For: Harry Comstock, Jim Chou, and Melissa Trifiletti Date: 4th February 2013 4 February 2013 Managerial Approaches Managerial Approaches Quik Clips Quik Clips EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The business proposal for Quik Clips aims to provide low-cost, quick and efficient haircuts. The business will initially open in the Perth City of Northbridge before planning to expand after one year to several salons around Perth with the long-term vision to franchise across Australia. Industry data identifies that the hairdressing industry is experiencing a skills shortage, a high turnover of staff and relies on a loyal customer base. It also identifies that overseas migration is contributing to an increasingly culturally diverse community in Perth. Given these challenges faced by Quik Clips, the objective of this report is to provide specific managerial approaches to address these challenges. This report benchmarks these managerial approaches against theoretical evidence from the classical viewpoint of ‘scientific management’ pioneered by Fredrick W Taylor and Frank and Lillian Gilbreth. Scientific management (also called ‘taylorism’) focuses on worker efficiency via the scientific study of work methods. The recommendations for Quik Clips are: 1. Divide tasks into specific jobs 2. Set job standards and procedures 3. Select employees with appropriate abilities for each job 4. Provide a financial system of......

Advertising Clip Analysis

...opinion there should have been a completely different advertisement. One idea could be a print ad with a picture of a mom packing lunch for her children in the morning. The image could be mom easily dropping a pouch of yoKids into each brown paper bag. Way the Campaign Should Work When looking at the way the campaign should work all that was evident was again a lack of thought. There are not really any motivating or discriminating arguments being made. The only emotional appeal that could be argued would be mothers wanting happy children and that argument is being stretched at best. The only thing I could possibly see on the King Continuum being relative is action. The use of something as simple as a BOGO coupon would ask mom to simply clip and pick her product. Final Evaluation This freestanding insert in was very interesting because it took the Stonyfield Organic Yogurt line and combined target audiences. From what we learned in every promotion has a specific target audience. That target must be well defined and usually doesn't span across the age groups this ad highlights. Thinking about how we defined targets in class, three separate advertisements would have been a plausible idea. When analyzing the strategy more in depth I think it is clear why the advertisement campaign works this way. Yes, the company is introducing a new product. However I do not think they went deep enough into a strategy to be effective. A simple sales promotion with a picture of the......

Apparently, she doesn’t want to throw it away, but she is also not using it. So, I thought it might not be hard to trade my paper clip for this frame which became my target point. Another reason I targeted this frame was that I wanted to start big so that I could trade for more valuable items with less number of trades. I didn’t reveal my purpose when I started talking to her; rather, I told her that I liked the frame and got her to talk a lot about it. Through our conversation, I confirmed my assumption that this frame is a thing of little value or interest for her but she just doesn’t want to throw it away. Then I told her my purpose and she agreed to trade with me. One thing that really helped me was information about the frame and how she was thinking. ...be a major topic in life, coming-of-age will be as well. For centuries, teens have been misunderstood by their families. They don't understand our thought process or why we even thought that way in the first place. That's when great writers and great producers came together to make films surrounding that. The coming-of-age films were most popular in the 80s--coincidentally while the fashion was also very out there and misunderstood. Personally, a movie that stood out the most in the Generation X era, was American Pie. Though it was very comedic, it's very relatable. The film focused on a group of teenage boys attempting to lose their innocence, but also shows the main character's parents constantly trying to "fix" him. As a viewer, you are immediately on the main character's side. Throughout the movie, his father is always trying to piece in on his life. The father feels that he knows exactly what the teen is experiencing because of him unexpectedly walking in on an unusual sexual act the teen was committing. Throughout the movie, he is giving him tips on sex and tries to "rectify" his "situation," when nothing the father is offering is necessary. The main character was trying to have actual sex and since he had a hard time doing so, at times, he'd use inanimate objects in replace of an actual human being. As teens "came of age," based off of previous experience, parents understood that that was the time that they should have "the talk." Realistically, that represented......

...panicky side of the youngsters. The main characters Moon, Ah Lung, Ah Ping and Susan in the movie represent the problem youth in the society. The monologue of Moon at the very beginning unveils the failure of educational system in Hong Kong. As an exam-oriented society, elites with good academic results are highly praised but for those cannot obtain high marks are doomed to failure. Moon being the later one leaves school at the early stage and winds up being a gangster. However, students who go to school are not free from problems associated. Fruit Chan in the movies shows the evil side of students, there is a scene which a group of secondary students bully ah Lung in the public toilet in order to feel a sense of superiority. Also, Susan in the movie are unable to manage pressure and bad times in her life, she finally resorts suicide in order to escape from the reality. The leave of Moon’s parent, the unconsciousness of Susan’s teacher and a driver for her death, connotatively show the reaction of adult on the youth problem, they choose dodging rather than facing up to it. The marks-based society creates a new generation with high marks but low emotional quality, Fruit Chan has depicted the youth problem in an humanistic angle, awakened the society on the flaws about the current educational system and the lack of support for teens in the society. Another local problem shown in the movie is the grass-rooted problem in HK. In Made in Hong Kong, the replacement of glamorous......

Am I Inside the Movie?

...Anh Le COM 100 Dr. Bill Withers 12/08/15 Am I inside the Movie? Many legacy-media forms, which cannot follow the evolution of the society trend and culture, start to fail claiming the audience attention. However, film is a reflection of society for both the present and the past. I believe film and its innovation have to catch up to society but sometimes it leads the society and culture too. That why in the future, “the theaters of the future will be bigger and more beautiful than ever before. They will employ expensive presentation formats that cannot be accessed or reproduced in the home (such as, ironically, film prints). And they will still enjoy exclusivity, as studios relearn the tremendous economic value of the staggered release of their products”, said Christopher Nolan, the director of the "Dark Knight" trilogy, "Inception," and "Interstellar.”(Nolan) In the past, the disadvantage of technology make the film industry cost a lot of money to produce film. In 1981, Thomas Edison, an inventor, created a device called the Kinetoscope which change the course of media history; this invention started a new era of Film industry. However, it took nine years to make the first film called “A Trip to the Moon” was made by a French filmmaker named Georges Mésliès. Also in 1915, another major motion picture was produced by a writer, actor, and camera operator, D.W. Griffith and an Edison Company camera operator Edwin S. Porter; this film was called “The Birth of a Nation”.......
