Clinical psychologists often label their patients clinically disordered due to a certain criteria. Their patients are labeled if they are expressing behaviors of deviance, distress, and dysfunction. However, if someone is expressing behaviors of these three characteristics, it does not always mean that they are disordered. Deviance is described as actions or behaviors that violate the social norms. The social norms are rules of conduct that society has created. These norms vary from age as well as social class. If someone is deviant, it does not usually mean that they are disordered, unless they show distress and dysfunction. For example, in today’s society, there are people who are deviant from society. People such as hipsters try to stray away from the norms by wearing loose ‘boho’ type clothes as well as wearing their hair in dreadlocks. Society is not used to these types of behaviors, thus they label these different people as deviant. However, they are just normal people who want to stand out, it does not mean that they are disordered. In addition, distress is a self-focused emotional reaction that occurs in someone who is going through a variety of things. If someone is distressful, it does not mean that they are disordered. Someone who is distressed often has emotions of anxiety, worry, or discomfort. This can be clearly seen in high school seniors. With the pressure of college applications, scholarships, school-work, and prom, students often feel themselves going through this type of behavior. Often, they can overcome this distress by listening to music, exercise, or doing something relaxing. Though, sometimes others may relieve their distress with outlandish behaviors such as smoking, drinking, or drugs. Distressful behaviors do not always mean someone is disordered, but simply that a person is going through a hard, stressful time. Being…...

Ted the Movie

...message all in one movie ticket. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Seth McFarland, Mila Kunis and a host of other upcoming stars, the cast is the dead giveaway of a masterpiece in the making. The story starts off with a kid, (Wahlberg) who made a wish for a friend, not just any friend a “thunder buddy “to keep him company while growing up as a misfit in Boston. His parents bought him a teddy bear for Christmas to cater to their son’s lonely childhood, which came to life after one magical wish was granted. The boy wakes up to find his new teddy bear alive and full of wise cracking jokes with an oath to never leave his side. Time passed and the two became close as brothers, through the golden years of adolescence, young adulthood and even the mid-life crisis ages of the early 30’s.A conflict came about years after Wahlberg met his fiancée (Mila Kunis), causing him to make a life altering decision either lose the love of his life or put down his stuffed animal, best bud “ted”. Kunis began to notice Wahlberg’s ongoing favoritism to the bear and eventually breaks up with him. This dramatic turn of events gets ted and john into a fight that makes them go their separate ways, until the bear reaches out to bring the relationship back together in exchange for his disappearance. All was well until ted was abducted by a psychopath (Giovanni Ribisi) and his estranged son, in which john and his girlfriend had to come to the bear’s aid. A “fairytale” like ending closes the movie with the three......

...Metaphor for Telling It has been countless years since I have watched a movie about Native Americans, and even longer since I have witnessed a decent one. Most films on the subject of the Native American people are often set in the past and are habitually on the subject of brave Indian warriors. I had never viewed a Native American motion picture filmed in a present day setting, dealing with contemporary issues until I watched Smoke Signals. In the movie Smoke Signals, co-producer and scriptwriter Sherman Alexie uses unexpected humor, numerous significant flashbacks, and modernized Native American storytelling traditions to best narrate his story and the historical plight of Native Americans. First of all, Alexie employs wit by mocking stereotypical reservation life, the frequently biased film industry, and even his own people, the Native Americans. From the opening scene as tribal meteorologist and traffic reporter Lester Falls Apart covers his seemingly uneventful daily traffic report, as he has for the last twenty-six years, from the rooftop of his broken down KREZ van, we are introduced to the odd and amusing way of life on the “rez.” In another scene, Victor and Thomas are embarking on their solemn journey and are offered a ride by Thelma and Lucy driving down the road in reverse; again, it is suggested that they exist in a somewhat backwards nation. In addition, Alexie is quick to taunt the movie industry by belittling white cowboy heroes; he even goes so far......

The reason of choosing Litos Pro as the font is because the simplicity of the design and a generic stand-in whenever a "primitive" feel is desired. Lithos is inspired by the unadorned, geometric letterforms of the engravings found on Ancient Greek public buildings. However, for the colours of the fonts, black and white are used indicate of living in reality there are always a good......

...away as free men. I like this movie because of the great acting performed by the main actors and the cars. 2 fast 2 furious has great acting. Paul Walker and Tyree Gibson do an excellent job playing the parts of Brian O’ Connell and Roman Pearce. Brian, a former cop, plays a good role as an undercover cop. Roman on the other hand, plays the role of a thug. He is tattooed and dresses with baggy clothes. He uses a lot of slang and likes to use the word “bruh” a lot, which is a slang term for brother. He is a thug because he had to spend three years in jail. He blaims Brian for that and when he first sees him in the movie he punches him in the face out of anger and they begin to fight. As the movie goes on, the hate that he has for Brian wares off, and they begin to become close friends as they were when they were younger. Roman also steals. He stole Verones cigar cutter, but got caught for it. The two actors display different personalities within the movie. Brian is more of the serious one who wants to do everything correctly, while Roman is the funny one who likes to joke around and have a good time, but likes to get the job done. They both display great team work within the movie. When they get their first objective to get a package out of Verone’s car, together they take over the streets and drive crazily. They get the package and return it to Verone and earn themselves a job. They both have each others back no matter what. At the end of the movie, when Brian almost gets......

These films are often unsettling and rely on scaring the audience through a portrayal of their worst fears and nightmares. Horror films usually center on the arrival of an evil force, person, or event. Horror film may become as an adventures to some people. This is because the film may play with the viewer emotions. According to Danielle Braff on his article about Movies may cause special effects on the body, he stated that the people who are fascinated by horror movies tend to be the same people who love to sky-dive, go rock climbing and try extreme skiing adventures. ...be a major topic in life, coming-of-age will be as well. For centuries, teens have been misunderstood by their families. They don't understand our thought process or why we even thought that way in the first place. That's when great writers and great producers came together to make films surrounding that. The coming-of-age films were most popular in the 80s--coincidentally while the fashion was also very out there and misunderstood. Personally, a movie that stood out the most in the Generation X era, was American Pie. Though it was very comedic, it's very relatable. The film focused on a group of teenage boys attempting to lose their innocence, but also shows the main character's parents constantly trying to "fix" him. As a viewer, you are immediately on the main character's side. Throughout the movie, his father is always trying to piece in on his life. The father feels that he knows exactly what the teen is experiencing because of him unexpectedly walking in on an unusual sexual act the teen was committing. Throughout the movie, he is giving him tips on sex and tries to "rectify" his "situation," when nothing the father is offering is necessary. The main character was trying to have actual sex and since he had a hard time doing so, at times, he'd use inanimate objects in replace of an actual human being. As teens "came of age," based off of previous experience, parents understood that that was the time that they should have "the talk." Realistically, that represented......

Moon being the later one leaves school at the early stage and winds up being a gangster. However, students who go to school are not free from problems associated. Fruit Chan in the movies shows the evil side of students, there is a scene which a group of secondary students bully ah Lung in the public toilet in order to feel a sense of superiority. Also, Susan in the movie are unable to manage pressure and bad times in her life, she finally resorts suicide in order to escape from the reality. The leave of Moon’s parent, the unconsciousness of Susan’s teacher and a driver for her death, connotatively show the reaction of adult on the youth problem, they choose dodging rather than facing up to it. The marks-based society creates a new generation with high marks but low emotional quality, Fruit Chan has depicted the youth problem in an humanistic angle, awakened the society on the flaws about the current educational system and the lack of support for teens in the society. Another local problem shown in the movie is the grass-rooted problem in HK. In Made in Hong Kong, the replacement of glamorous......

...Hancock Being a movie fanatic, life is measured by when the next big movie release is going to be. One of the movies I have been looking forward to for a while was Hancock. Unfortunately, the movie was released in theatres during the summer when I was visiting Hong Kong and by the time I got back, it wasn’t in theatres anymore so I had to wait for the movie to be released on DVD. The movie is directed by Peter Berg and stars Will Smith and Charlize Theron. The movie takes place in modern day Los Angeles and revolves around an alcoholic superhero named Hancock that doesn’t care about his appearance and seen as a homeless, played by Will Smith. Unfortunately, due to his alcoholic problems, when he is saving people and taking out criminals, he causes a lot of property damage and puts other civilians in danger, which makes the citizens of Los Angeles somewhat despise him. The beginning of the movie follows Hancock in his adventures around Los Angeles bringing criminals to justice while causing a lot of destruction along the way. The movie then goes to another main character; a public relations manager played named Ray Embrey who just unsuccessfully tried to pitch a new charity logo to some corporate executives and is on his way home when he gets stuck on some train tracks while a train is coming. Hancock then comes just in time to save him, but derails the train in the process. The people around the scene start to boo him, but Ray thanks him for saving his life and......
