...A well-known filmmaker Robert Zemeckis got a reputation as a state of the art filmmaker in 1985 when he directed the comedic time travel “Back to The Future” film series. He went on to make Academy Award movies such as ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit” and “Forest Gump” (June 3, 2011). “Flight” stars a well-rounded acting veteran Denzel Washington. Washington plays a flight captain, Whip Whittaker, who is at the difficult time in his life battling drug and alcohol addiction as a flight captain. He becomes a hero and has to make a decision that can change his life. After reviewing the movie we can determine the reason for him becoming a hero, the "real" Whip, and my final review of the film. In the movie “Flight”, the major character Denzel Washington presents a bad portrait of professionalism. He plays an airline flight captain addicted to money, sex, and alcohol. Whip decides to use cocaine to wake up after a night with little sleep to fly the next morning. That morning during the flight Whip meets intense turbulence. In fact, while at cruising altitude, Whip falls asleep leading the copilot to take over. Finally, a mechanical noise wakes him abruptly. Here is when we see the characteristic that appears to make Whip a hero. His confidence to land the plane during mechanical malfunction is very symbolic in terms of being seen as a hero. The standout heroic moment in the film is when the plane travels at high speeds straight for the ground and Whip purposely turns’ the plane......

...My favourite movie is “The Dictator”. It was produced in year 2012 and starring one of the most renowned actor, Sasha Baron Cohen. It is a comedy film and it features a little mockumentary. As a form of parody to current world issues revolving around the topic of democracy and dictatorship, it tells the story of how a ruler risked his life for the sake of oppressing democracy. The movie takes a straight pinch at the world politics by making jokes of those we called our leaders. The brave act from the actor cum script-writer to film such a mockumentary is indeed worth the praises. The reason why I chose this as my favourite movie is because of the following reasons: Firstly, the movie is indeed a great joy to watch. I am very sure that it captured my attention from the start of the movie, where it paid tribute to the late dictator of North Korea - Kim Jong-Il, till when it ends with the ruler finally giving in to democracy. The plot of the movie is entertaining throughout. Secondly, I could not remember laughing as much from other comedies I have watched in my entire life. It is really a humorous movie throughout and the contexts of its parodies are indeed easy to grasp. Lastly, I have always been a fan of Sasha Baron Cohen. He is an intelligent and genius, I would call it in script writing for such films. One other notable film produced by him is, Borat. This movie is definitely suitable for people who are stressed up and in need of some laughter to brighten up......

The Twilight Samurai Film Review

...Catherine Rios 3-2-14 Asian Civilizations In the film, The Twilight Samurai, Yoji Yamada reconstructs an ancient Japanese village by the characters demonstration of the same values and customs of the samurai, two other factors that help pull off the illusion of the time period are the architecture and economy. Seibei is nicknamed ‘The Twilight Samurai’ because he is a samurai and every night he returns home from work at twilight he isn’t like the other people he works with who go out after work. The Twilight Samurai is the love story of a low ranked samurai, Seibei, who rises to defeat not only a traitor, but the person who Seibei may later become. Of the many themes in The Twilight Samurai is light. When Seibei is sent to a fight to the death with Tanaka you see Seibei in the light and Tanaka in the dark. Review of Twilight

...Plot 1923 Twilight is a classic love story, but the author has written it in an interesting twist between love and fantasy. I wouldn’t say that the story is original but the way the author, Stephanie Meyer explains things in it makes it special. If I’d put this book in a shelf at the library I wouldn’t really be able to decide where it should be, if it should be in the shelf of fantasy books or in the shelf in the category of love stories. Personally I’m not a big fan of fantasy books but I Twilight has got “the best of both worlds” without that’s getting out of hand. These books in the series are all written from Bella’s perspective except some parts where you can read it from Jacob’s, which I think that it makes it extra interesting. Setting The book takes place in Forks what is a small town in Washington, United States and when you read the book you’ll understand it. In Forks the population is just over 3000. It’s often raining and barely sunshine, even in summer time. The author Stephanie Meyer describes it well in the book and there’s also a reason why the books takes place there. In the book they say that vampires can’t be shown in sunshine without people would understand they’re different, because when they do their skin gets shiny, just as sparkling glitter. Characters In this book there are three main characters, Bella, Edward and Jacob. Bella is an ordinary teenage girl how falls in unconditionally in love with the boy in her school, Edward who is a......

...2 fast 2 furious Review 2 fast 2 furious is one of the best car street racing movies to watch. The Miami police department has been tracking down a drug lord, Carter Verone, but cannot find any evidence to arrest him. The department has Monica Fuentes, an undercover agent, as Verone’s girlfriend. They need street racers in order to capture Verone, so they arrest the main actor Brian O’ Connell at the end of a street race and take him to the department. At the department, they give him the breakdown about Verone and try to assign him a partner. He does not like the partner they try to give him, so he decides to pick his own, Roman Pearce. Their main job is to work undercover and arrest Verone so that their records will get cleared and they can walk away as free men. I like this movie because of the great acting performed by the main actors and the cars. 2 fast 2 furious has great acting. Paul Walker and Tyree Gibson do an excellent job playing the parts of Brian O’ Connell and Roman Pearce. Brian, a former cop, plays a good role as an undercover cop. Roman on the other hand, plays the role of a thug. He is tattooed and dresses with baggy clothes. He uses a lot of slang and likes to use the word “bruh” a lot, which is a slang term for brother. He is a thug because he had to spend three years in jail. He blaims Brian for that and when he first sees him in the movie he punches him in the face out of anger and they begin to fight. As the movie goes on, the hate that he has for...

He desperately needed to change in order to save it. As a result, he decides to shares his dilemma with his father. In turn, his dad suggests that he postpone the decision for forty day and complete an exercise called “The Love Dare” which helps him to realize that divorce is not the answer but change is. The Review This movie has a Christian marriage coaching theme incorporated in it because the husband shares his problems with two people he trusts. As a result, they provided him with support encouragement, accountability, honesty, biblical truth, and guidance. In essence, they became his coaches, “Christian marriage coaching is the application of Christian coaching concepts and skills to facilitate growth, healing, and change for couples” (Collins, 2009, p. 253). There is a scene where Caleb is confiding in his friend at work about his wife desiring to get a divorce. William listens carefully and then imparts insight regarding the situation. He begins by reminding Caleb about the vows of marriage, placing a major emphasis on for better or worse. William continues to add that most people do not take their vows seriously enough. In addition,......

Twilight Review

...NOTE: This review is the fair and unbiased opinion of someone with extremely little knowledge of the Twilight series. I watched the movie with a few die hard fans who I talked to after the movie, and I will work some of their thoughts into the review. Another much loved book series has been brought to life in the form of Twilight, which despite having nothing in common with the Harry Potter series, will undoubtedly draw comparisons because of the furor and craze surrounding it. The main difference between the two, however, is that the Harry Potter films are generally good and solid films. Twilight, despite having done a couple things right, is not. As a story, I will admit, Twilight is very catchy and interesting. Now I see what all the hype is about. If I was a young girl, I would go nuts over this stuff too. It's not just a vampire and a human falling in love with each other, but because of the two leads, it's one of the best on screen romances of the decade. This, however, is severely hurt by the fact that Twilight boasts easily some of the worst writing and editing I've ever seen. Let's not forget about the horrid VFX and pasty makeup, either. It's one of the cheesiest films of the year, and can definitely be put in the category of "so bad it's ALMOST good". Yes, I just invented that category. The 'allure' of the film appears to be the character played by Robert Pattinson, who ironically was previously known for his role in the Harry Potter series. Pattinson......

...Review of “Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story” The movie “Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story” is a biographical drama recounting of the colorful life of legendary martial arts star Bruce Lee. The film is written based on the Bruce’s window Linda’ book "Bruce Lee: the man only I knew", and directed by Rob Cohen and starred Jason Scott Lee. This biographical drama released in the United States in year 1993, and inspired a Kong Fu hit in Hollywood. The film gives audiences the closest account of inner Bruce Lee and represents his childhood in Hong Kong, to his days as a dishwasher, a teacher of martial arts and eventual martial art super star in Hollywood. Bruce Lee is an absolute legend of martial art, and he was prominent figure that represented strength and mastery. This film is a retelling of Bruce’ life, but also shows how Bruce went up to the top and fought against obstacles along the way to his success. I was deeply impressed by Bruce’s talents and efforts, and fascinated by his mental capacity. In the film, Bruce was plotted against by another martial art master Chinatown and nearly died from injury. However, with his wife’s encouragements, he changed his fight methods and created his own concept of Kong Fu called Jeet Kune Do. This film also shows discrimination towards Chinese, which made me so sad. Racial discrimination presented in this film was great and targeted not only towards Bruce but also other Chinese in the United States. I still remember there is a scene that when......

...REVIEW ON THE DARK KNIGHT RISES The Dark Knight Rises(New York , July 16, 2012) is a superhero film directed by Christopher Nolan. It is the sequel to The Dark Knight (2008).The film introduces two main characters to Nolan's series: Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway) and Bane (Tom Hardy). It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane. Making of The Dark Night Rises seems very excellent, because it is focused on nice editing style, camera focusing, attractive environment & technology. I enjoy every scene and it attracts me a lot. In this movie director hasn’t give any extra power to the hero. He uses his technological power to attain his mission. Christian Bale can perform his shooting excellently. He played the role of Batman perfectly. It mainly entertains me by its main theme & script writing. I find......

...1. Movie Review The movie Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, taught me more about South Africa. It made me think that the world is so big and I just know a tiny dot of it. The movie consists of situations wherein they experience social problem, social movement and social change. They overcome these situations after a long period of time through tough situations and countless meetings of the British Government and Nelson Mandela. 2. What social problems have you observe in the movie? Explain why it exists. The social problem that existed in the movie was the discrimination being received by the South African citizens in their own country. They were treated as slaves. This is what triggered them to revolt and fight for their rights. This social problem started small from opinions in neighborhood to group organizations. They wanted to overthrow the government and fight for their rights. 3. Define the meaning of social movement and social change by citing scenes in the movie. Social movement is a collectivity acting with some continuity to promote ore resist a change in society or group of which it is part. (Turner and Killian) It may also refer to those activities in which people unite in an organized, long-term effort to change their society or in which they resist and express dissatisfaction with the existing order through outright and prolonged actions. (Hollnsteiner) 4. Define the stages of a social movement by citing scenes in the movie. The stages......
