Admin. Bldg - Collected handbooks and revised business cards to distribute to teachers and paraprofessionals. Discussed with Terrence about Sharp school switching our Hatch Smart board from another classroom and removing the big old computers from Ms. Daniel and Ms. Khair. 2pm - attended meeting called by Gladys regarding ECDC.

Sharp School
Ms. Daniel requested me to check out her classroom arrangement. Suggested - enclosed one side of the Block area so that it will not become a walkthrough traffic, make the Art area bigger so that the children have access to the art supplies, eventually adding quiet activities to the private area such as writing clipboard, books, puppets, a few manipulative toys, mirror, etc, place socket covers, and have small clear bins for the science materials.

Ms. Khair asked me to look around her classroom to give her ideas. Suggestions - either unscrew the round table and hide it behind furniture, or use it for sand/water containers, place the sofa/couch in the Dramatic Play area against the wall so it won't fall over when the children sit or trip over, cover all the socket outlets, etc. Ms. Khair also asked about her technology requisition.

Secrets, Lies and Bernie Madoff

...Secrets, Lies and Bernie Madoff It seems like they all start the same – with Secrets and Lies. With secrets and all the don’t tell anyone because it is exclusive talk - that’s the stuff that makes soap operas, scandals and the greatest ponzi schemes. Everyone likes feeling like they have a great opportunity that not everyone gets to have and that it is exclusive, especially when it feeds their financial greed. Those are the ingredients that helped Bernie Madoff build the biggest Ponzi investment scheme in history. Madoff maintains that he never meant for it to be anything more than him investing for close friends and family however the secrecy and not accepting just anyone are part of what made so many people want to be a part, thereby becoming one of the best marketing tactics ever. The first question I wanted to know was who is this man that earned the respect of some of the biggest names on Wall Street, the trust of friends, family and strangers and where did he come from? • Start of firm senior in college The firm that Madoff started in 1960 with the $5,000 he saved was a trading business that specialized in the trading of penny stocks – Continued to earn money as a life guard and landscaper until his business took off • Bernard Madoff is a former financier, American hedge-fund investment manager, chairman of the NASDAQ (National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations) stock exchange, and chairman of the firm......

Jack sees himself as a grown man, who can take care of his own life. He feels that he is different than anybody else. I do not think that he had any role models he could look up to, so he decided to take care of his own. “Nobody ever told me they loved me before, except my mother, which is obvious” (P 2, L 1-2). White Lies

...White Lie Lying is unforgivable. People who lie are disgusting and we should keep distance with them. We are tought taught to tell truth since we were born. I also firmly believed this until one day when I was so nervous of everything. My teacher told me that I was the best student she had seen. It is her white lie that inspired confidence in me. And Then I realized that lying is not necessarily a an intolerable thing. What’s more, We we would rather get a white lie instead of a an intolerable truth. Telling a white lie is not dishonest. Moreover, the people who tell white lies are so considerate as pure angels. I’d like to tell you a beautiful white lie comes from . A dying patient could see a big tree outside from her room. When the leaves fell down off one by one, she became weaker and weaker. So she said,”I’llsaid,” I’ll die as the leaves all gogone.” Yet, there was only one leaf was still hunging hanging on the tree even after a rainstorm. HowerverHowever it is “the firm leaf” which actually was actually a painting of by a warm-hearted painter who had heard of the remark of her that made her go through the crucial point. A lie though it is, it comes from goodwilling and be respected all the time. A white lie not only can give others hope as the last leaf, but also can make life better, prevent arguementargument, protect others. Little White Lies – Honesty or Dishonesty? Or just an easy way to avoid the painful truth? Lukas Cavalcante Baier Zhejiang University of Science and Technology Abstract Everyone lies. But why do we lie? An often trivial, diplomatic or well-intended untruth, a minor or unimportant lie uttered in the interest to remain polite? Though it is frequently judged, lie-telling is a common and frequent activity in social relations, with ostensible social risks and benefits. Yet, insincerity can become a problem behavior with frequent or inappropriate use over time. The goal of this essay is to identify when a white lie is honest or dishonest or just a way to avoid the painful truth. Little White Lies – Honesty or Dishonesty? Or just an easy way to avoid the painful truth? On the surface, the idea of honesty seems simple enough. All one has to do is tell the truth in every situation. Then why is it that otherwise truthful people will justify garbling the truth in certain situations? According to Pamela Meyer, men lie eight times more about themselves than they do about other people and women lie...

Democrats and Their Lies

...emissions that scientists blame for trapping heat in the atmosphere and dangerously warming the planet. The rule could trigger a fundamental transformation of the nation’s energy systems – if it withstands an expected onslaught of legal and legislative attacks. In his first term, Mr. Obama tried but failed to push a sweeping climate change bill through Congress. But now, as many Republicans question the science of climate change, and even as many Democrats from coal-dependent states fear that a climate change bill could damage their economies, Mr. Obama is moving ahead on his own. He is using the executive authority under the 1970 Clean Air Act to issue the regulation. Under the proposal to be unveiled on Monday, states will be given a wide menu of policy options to achieve the pollution cuts. Rather than immediately shutting down coal plants, states will be allowed to reduce emissions by making changes across their electricity systems – by installing new wind and solar generation, energy-efficiency technology and by starting or joining state and regional “cap-and-trade” programs, in which states agree to cap carbon pollution and buy and sell permits to pollute. In a 2009 United Nations accord, Mr. Obama pledged that the United States would cut its greenhouse gas pollution 17 percent from 2005 levels by 2020, and 83 percent by 2050. The draft proposal was first reported by the Wall Street Journal on Sunday afternoon....

White Lies

...Jinwoo Hur EH 216 Poetry Analysis 7/7/11 White Lies Part: 1 In the poem “White Lies,” Natasha Tretheway describes a girl telling white lies as a child in a first person narrative. In the first stanza, she describes herself as “light-bright’ near white, high-yellow, red-boned, in a black place.” Red boned means a racially mixed person, and she is describing her skin as a light and near white color. The next stanza shows the readers what kind of lies she said. She told the white folks that she lived uptown, her homemade dresses were straight from Mason Blanche, and she kept quiet when a white girl called her white. Her lies shows that she wants to hide the fact that she lives in a black neighborhood, and she wants to pass as a white. The third stanza describes the punishment she received when her mom found out she was telling the lies. Her mom cleaned her mouth with “ivory soap,” claiming it would purify and cleanse the lying tongue. Comforting Lies

...Valerie Valencia English 120 Professor Berger July 9, 2015 Comforting lies INTRO Superstitions date back to God's attempt to explain nature and his own existence. There was a deep belief that animals, nature and objects held a connection to spirits and the spirit world. In order to have a feeling of appeasing these forces, different behaviors or customs arose that would dictate a favorable fate and good fortune. Many superstitions have come from mythology, where omens were common. Superstitions live on because they have been passed on from generation to generation. Even today, where direct evidence and facts outweigh superstitious beliefs, there are probably very few people who can categorically deny that they do not at least secretly harbor a slight belief in one or two superstitions. CLAIM I grew up doing some crazy things, but to me they weren’t so crazy. There are many superstitions my family believes in that are among our Mexican traditions. It wasn’t until I was in my late teens that I realized my beliefs were indeed superstitious. Many of these beliefs come from deep in our roots and are still practiced in our family today. I realized the magic and also the chaos of believing in extreme superstitions. As I became older, some superstitions I became a firm believer of while others were to silly for me to continue to practice. WARRANT Many superstitions stem from the same human trait that causes us to believe in monsters and ghosts; when our brains can't explain......

...Lies. Nothing but lies. My friends we were all lied too back in 2002 when George Brush and Tony Blair declared, falsely, that Iraq possessed “weapons of mass destruction” (WMDs) and that we had to prevent Saddam from unleashing his furry on the World or else we would all be doomed. So with no evidence to support these claims and against the United Nations orders, the United States and the Allied forces brought “freedom” and “democracy” to the people of Iraq. Now, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know just how this new found, wonderful freedom and democracy has benefited the people of Iraq. Just take a look at this fact; over four million Iraqis have emigrated from Iraq since 2003. What does this mean? This means that the invasion of Iraq was wrong. Bush and his so called “friends” invaded under false pretences; they were selective about where and when to promote this so-called democracy; and they did not make the world a safer place by eliminating Saddam Hussein. In the lead up to the war, Tony Blair and George Bush claimed that Saddam’s Iraq had developed weapons capable of creating mass destruction and that the only solution was too enter Iraq and exterminate these weapons. However, after seven years of endless searching not a single piece of evidence was found to support Bush and Blair’s claims. The collation forces ended up leaving Iraq WMDless. In any case, even if Iraq did have WMDs, so does other countries such as Israel, Russia and North Korea (which by......

Stephen Porter* and Leanne ten Brinke University of British Columbia Okanagan, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada In this paper, we provide our view of the current understanding of high-stakes lies often occurring in forensic contexts. We underscore the importance of avoiding widespread pitfalls of deception detection and challenging prevailing assumptions concerning strategies for catching liars. The promise and limitations of each of non-verbal/body language, facial, verbal/linguistic, and physiological channels in detecting deception are discussed. In observing the absence of a single cue or behavioural channel that consistently reveals deception, a holistic approach with concurrent attention to multiple channels of a target’s behaviour (ideally videotaped for review) and changes from baseline behaviour is recommended whenever possible. Among the best-validated cues to be considered together include: illustrators, blink and pause rate, speech rate, vague descriptions, repeated details, contextual embedding, reproduction of conversations, and emotional ‘leakage’ in the face.......

The other two dihedral angles in the peptide bond determine the local shape assumed by the protein backbone.[4] The end of the protein with a free carboxyl group is known as the C-terminus or carboxy terminus, whereas the end with a free amino group is known as the N-terminus or amino terminus. The words protein, polypeptide, and peptide are a little ambiguous and can overlap in meaning. Protein is generally used to refer to the complete biological molecule in a stable conformation, whereas peptide is generally reserved for a short amino acid oligomers often lacking a stable three-dimensional structure. However, the boundary between the two is not well defined and usually lies near 20–30 residues.[5] Polypeptide can refer to any single linear chain of amino acids, usually regardless of length, but often implies an absence of a defined conformation. Couple Lies by

...Everyday people tell lies that seem minor and ineffective on life. These lies are considered white lies or kind lies. A white lie is a cautious, wrong statement which is meant to do no harm or is intended to produce an encouraging result. Adair Lara’s Couple lie shows readers white lies in marriage. She states “This is marital lying. It’s not a white lie, meant to spare your feelings. It’s a pink lie, a couple lie.” In her opinion white lies and couple lies are different, couple lies are acceptable. The author and many people see white lies and couple lies as a way to get through life, but are the results always positive? Couple Lies and White lies may seem innocent and harmless but can potentially cause problems in relationships and friendships. Usually white lies and couple lies aren’t intentional. They are just told at a moment in time when you find yourself in a situation where you may feel as if the truth is harmful, or at least the complete truth. Other times you are uncomfortable answering the question that is asked and rather avoid a problem. Sometimes we fear that the truth may hurt someone’s feelings therefore we use a white lie or couple lie to save face. We lie to those questions like “how do I look?” or “how does the food taste?” You would rather boost someone’s ego rather than be responsible for lowering their self-esteem. We feel that if we bring someone happiness it is a win-win situation. This ideology seems quite simple and fool proof which is why people......
