No More Home, now you’re On Your Own
These days, most young people are choosing to move out and live away from home. At some time in your life you will have to decide between staying at home with your parents like you have always done, or starting a new life on your own, that means it’s time to start being independent. Moving out will affect every detail of your life, right down to the foods you eat, and how much money you can spend. At the moment you want to make a choice between these two completely different ways of life, you should know that living at home and living on your own have some similarities, and they also some differences that you have to think about before making a decision. Every young person should realize that living on your own is a big step towards becoming a responsible adult. When living at home, and living away from home you have certain responsibilities to do in both places. If your decision was to live at home with your parents, you have to help with household chores like cleaning the house, and your room, and you have to do it well, because if you don’t you will have face the consequences. For example, if you have to wash the dishes and you don’t do it, you will just have more and more dishes to wash on the following days. As well, if you decided to move away from home you will also have household chores because no one will be there to do them for you, so you have to do them. Another similarity is that no matter if you are living in your home or away from it, the place where you are living is special and you feel something unique when you are there; This could be because you spend a lot of time in that place such as when you sleep, and eat there. Despite these similarities, living at home and living away from it has some differences that you have to know. The first difference is the freedom that you would have, but you tend to have…...

...Charisse Mae A. Morillo MA SciEd Specialization in Chemistry Environmental Chemistry 08 December 2012 HOME A film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand Short version: 92’ 2009, France, digital Film company: Elzevir Films – EuropaCorp Distributor in France: EuropaCorp Distribution SYNOPSIS The appearance of life on Earth was the result of a balance between elements that took billions of years to stabilize. Humans have profited from the lavish resources of the Earth, but have changed the face of the world by the use they have made of it. The harnessing of petroleum and its subsequent overexploitation are having dramatic consequences for our planet. Human beings must change their behaviour and their way of life before it is too late for them, their descendants and life on Earth. REFLECTION HOME was an “extraordinary” story of Earth and Humanity. It traces back to the Earth’s origins: clouds, volcanoes, smoke, rushing water, etc. and how life appears on Earth: bacteria, carbon, plants, oxygen and water; “everything is linked…sharing is everything”. Life hinges on a delicate balance. Earth counts time in billions of years. Trees appear, then soils, micro-organisms then animals, in a logical sequence in which everything has its place. At the beginning of the film, events unfold slowly. The appearance of life and its development also takes place slowly. Man himself is subject to the pace dictated by the natural elements. The human species is the final link in a long evolutionary chain of...

...Kim Kell Craig Boswell Bullying and Cyber Bullying November 29, 1983 Bullying is a very unfortunate situation that has been around for generations. The world may have not of had a term for it back in those days however making a individual or individuals feel as if they are not equal or less than them has always been an unfortunate situation humans have had to fight rough whether in school, at the park or over the internet. Bullying is around and is getting worse the more the Internet expands and links individuals through social networking. In history there has been billions of bullying situations, not all have been documented and broadcasted through the web and news. In 2010 Tyler Clementi killed himself after his roommate at Rutgers University filmed him kissing another man. Phoebe Prince a 15-year-old innocent young girl moved from Ireland and not even after living in the United States for a year killed herself because of bullying in a Massachusetts school. These are just a few of the innocent lives that were taken resulting from being bullied. The most unfortunate bullying results can be when multiple individuals gang up on one person. In Tampa Florida for over a year 15 girls ganged up on an innocent 12 year old named Rebecca Ann Sedwick. Not only did they physically abuse her bullies harassed her online sending her messages saying “why don’t you go kill yourself” and “You should die”. ...with. When I lived in an apartment just to take the trash out I would have to put on shoulder pads and mow down 8 kids just to get there. As opposed to in my home I don’t have to leave if I choose not to. I am fully independent with all my amenities at my fingertips. Another perk is the space we have as opposed to in an apartment, I was forced to share a wall with someone so if I chose to have company or play my music there would be an overweight security guard knocking on my door hassling me to turn it down. By owning my own home now I sort of feel like my own boss in the sense that I am not regulated by the manager of an apartment. The only rules I have to abide by are my own. I also feel overall safer with my family, and the environment is much more peaceful to relax in. Where as in my apartment I felt if I wanted time outside it would take a pair of head phones and a blindfold to relax. I guess the best thing about a home is coming home at night and not having to to see a bunch of people who have their own agenda and could care less if I had a long day or that I just want to get ton my parking spot that has more than likely occupied by someone else while as in my house I pull in my garage and I’m done. Now don’t get me wrong I understand the financial advantages of an apartment, but given the choice, a home is a much more advantageous for the simple fact of the freedom it offers. So the extra one to two hundred dollar difference will be money well invested in the long......

...Courtney Davis October 2, 2014 Bethany Quest III First Essay What is Home? The definition of home is the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household or an institution for people needing professional care or supervision. This definition describes home in the most basic form that truly has no other meaning. The first definition does not take into account the millions of people who possibly do not have a permanent residence or who has no family. It seems to suggest home is a place without personal value; well I think that the term home has a considerably large amount of personal significance that give it a different definition depending on each individual. Home is a place that one would want to go to. “I just want to go home”, clearly indicates a want to go to a certain place. This goes back into the notion that home does not specifically have to be a house. There are plenty of people who feel at home in places that are nowhere close to a permanent residence. There are some people who live in the city, but feel like they are at home when they visit the mountain side. To feel at home, I think, constitutes being at home no matter where it may be. It is a place where people can be content or possibly happy. Home is a place where one could live according to who they feel that they are. Home is a place of expression. It may seem like this is only true for those who own their own house and can decorate...

...classes and learning at a steady pace. However, when his life at home becomes too much to handle along with school, Wes takes a fall and fails out of private school. Wes doesn't want to go on living in poverty, so he decides that he is going to get an education one way, or another. He decides to join a military school and enlist in the countries' armed forces, in hopes that he will have one more chance at getting a wonderful education to turn his life around. At first, he didn't seem cut out for the military, but with time came acceptance, and Wes toughened up and contributed to the war in his own way. After his time in the war had been served, Wes left the forces a veteran, and went on to bigger and better things, and all the opportunities that college would bring for him and his future. The book also tells the story of the "other" Wes Moore, one who's story isn't that of success and opportunity, but rather that of loss and missed chances. The other Wes Moore had all the same chances as the successful Wes Moore, he just chose not to pursue them from the beginning, and as time went on, his opportunities for a bright future faded away. The other Moore, had a very similar childhood, in that he lived in poverty, had no father, and was barely getting by off of what was brought home at the end of the week. As time went by, and the other Moore grew up, he started becoming detached from his family, and started spending more time with his "crew" out on the streets, and wandering......

...Home > College Guide > College Essays > Teen Pregnancy—A Social Issue Teen Pregnancy—A Social Issue Custom User AvatarBy Official_DKW, Ypsilanti, MI More by this author Email me when Official_DKW contributes work After researching various statistics, I found that premarital pregnancy is quite prevalent in teenagers throughout the world. Teen pregnancy is one of the most difficult experiences a young person might ever face when it interrupts school or other plans. It can create an emotional crisis resulting in feelings of shame and fear, and it may appear that you will crumble under pressures in your environment. The stress of how one would break the news to their parents might be even greater, and finding help may seem an impossible task. People might think that they can help others, or one might be too embarrassed to search for help. For the most part, when one sees teenagers raising children, we often think that the teen has been raped or is too mature for their age. For this reason, some totally miss the issues that one must have been exposed to in their society, the society of their home, community, school. There are many viewpoints as to why teenage females are having so many children out of wedlock. However, the facts are obvious—teenaged females are highly influenced by many social issues, but those with the lack of strong parental guidance, sex education, and positive mass media are more likely to have a premarital pregnancy. As one travels the globe, they......

...fans finally found there seats at Candlestick Park. Expectantly they watched the teams warm up. The clocks had reached 5:04. And deep beneath the ground a section of weak rock had snapped. The two sides of the San Andreas shot past each other. Simultaneously the West Side of the fault rose, and it had seemed to be lifting the mountains themselves. The ripping of the faults was dangerously unstoppable. And for about eight seconds the earth’s crust unzipped at more than two kilometers per second, twenty kilometers to the north and south. The bucking Santa Cruz Mountains flicked houses off their foundations like eggshells. The faulting released a frenzy of seismic waves. Setting seismometer needles scribbling around the world, and carrying a lethal message to Californians. Waves rolling to the south bludgeoned the city of Santa Cruz, which was only 16 kilometers from the epicenter. They took out its commercial heart and had swiped four lives. The waves smashed into Watsonville, damaging and destroying most homes and turning Main St. into a ghost town. They mutilated Hollister and destroyed the rich settlements of the Salinas Valley. Waves rolling north rumbled the ground beneath beautiful Los Gatos, shattering Victorian houses and half the business district. They also shook San Jose but most buildings held. The waves swept up the peninsula, rattling securely planted cities such as Palo Alto and Menlo Park. At Stanford University they found old, brittle......

...manufatures and placed onto clothing by expensive European jewelers, such as Harry Winston and Vancleef & Arpels. Moreover, there are different types of clothing for men and for women that have been developed throughout the years and each garment is closely associated with the climate, region and the local culture. Traditional clothing that women wore and still wear today in northern India as well as southern India is known as sari. Sari is derived from Sanskrit and literally means “strip of cloth.” Typically, the most elegant saris are usually made out of silk. However, such an elegant piece of clothing like a silk sari, would typically be seen in Mumbai, one of India’s fashion capitals, where in the rural parts of India, clothing that is more geared towards the traditional side would be worn. Now, saris are known with different names in different regions. For example, in Kerala, a south-west region of South India, white saris are only worn on special occasions and they are known as kavanis. In contrast, a simple white sari that is worn every day, is known as a mundu. This not only shows the versatility and diversity across the regions of South Asia, but also shows how each region adapted different names for the different types of clothing. Apart from the sari, women had other options like gharga choli, kurta and salwar kameez. Not only did women have their particular clothing garments, but men did as well. Some of the most common types of clothing that men use and......

...world premiere of Yann Arthus Bertrand's Home Documentary. The movie is a collection of unique aerial footage from over 50 countries, which will try to show the state of the planet in natural and urban areas with the goal of inciting people to act. Says the producer, Denis Carot, "Home is a film with a message that sets out to shift people's perceptions, make us aware of the tectonic movements at work and incite us to act. Although there is a general trend in our societies towards an awareness of ecological issues, concrete action is still too little, too slow—which constitutes in some ways the creed of the movie: It's too late to be a pessimist". "When I invited Al Gore to show his film, An Inconvenient Truth, to the French Parliament, I realized just how much impact a movie could have, even more than a TV program. I saw how moved the audience was—to tears in some cases—and I said to myself that a feature film was an excellent way of reaching people," he said in an interview at the press release brochure.
