Impulse Purchasing Behaviors of the Turkish Consumers in Websites as a Dynamic Consumer Model: Technology Products Example

Abstract

This paper examines the concept of impulse purchasing behavior online basically. The phenomenon of impulse purchasing has been researched in consumer research as well as for example in psychology and economics since the 1950s. A detailed review and analysis of the literature asserts that there are some unsolved issues regarding the state of knowledge on impulse purchasing behavior. Furthermore, nowadays consumers buy an increasing amount of purchases on the Internet. The current conceptualizations of impulse purchase behavior do not adequately capture impulse purchase behavior over the Internet. Today several researchers have claimed that the phenomenon of impulse purchasing should be examined also in the context of online shopping environment. This article aims to reveal that what attitudes of the customers are the points in question while purchasing on internet in terms of impulse buying. The results of our exploratory research are consistent with our conceptualization, and present a strong base for future research.

Upon completing the Asian IAT, the test stated that I personally had a slight associated of European Americans with American and Asian American with Foreign compared to Asian Americans with American and European Americans with foreign. Subconsciously I didn’t realize the relations I put with one racial background compared to the other, but once I completed the test I realized that I do personally associate certain members of a background with certain cultural items. Although I do not use that in order to be malicious or rude to someone, it is a generalized reference that I have learned growing up and from where I have lived. Prejudice is not often easy to measure, as a person may feel personally toward one belief but does not show that belief to others as they know it is not the general rule. Other people can be blunt and open with prejudice, making it easier to know what their exact feeling about another is or even how they feel toward them. Being able to call it an accurate result though is hard because of a person’s feelings may change from experience to experience and may result differently in 6 months if taken today. So here to start with the analysis part , first the overall movement of the daily “close” data for S&P CNX NIFTY FIFTY is examined for the period starting from 2nd May 2002 till 3rd Feb 2012. There are in total 2347 observations and the econometric package EViews 7 has been used to track the movement. The plot is shown in Fig No 5.1. [pic] Fig No 5.1. While the upward trend is pretty evident from 2002 to 2007 however since 2007 Nifty movement has been somewhat unstable due to frequent market fluctuation and thus the market seems to be more volatile during this period. In terms of volatility another aspect is visible from the graph that is an upward trend is being followed by further upward trend while a downward trend is being followed by further downward trend and this feature is known as “volatility clustering” and this volatility clustering seems to be present in the index. Short-Term Liquidity Short-term liquidity ratios help key stakeholders assess whether ABC SDN. BHD can pay its short-term obligations from operating income (Parrino, Kidwell, & Bates, 2012). The current ratio is calculated by dividing current assets by current liabilities. For 2010, the company’s current ratio was 1.39, which was calculated by dividing $29,307,990 by $21,051,890. There was a decrease of 0.37 from 2009’s current ratio of 1.76. This indicates that ABC SDN. BHD has $1.39 for every one dollar in current liabilities. The current ratio has remained steady from 2009 to 2010 and thus indicates the company is able to pay its short-term obligations as they come due.
