It was a week after Labor Day, the traditional end of the summer travel and vacation season, and the beginning of American football season, school and thoughts of autumn. On September 11, 2001, there was a horrible tragedy that happened in New York, 19 militants were associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States the twin towers, and also in the Pentagon. This disaster started about eight forty-five A.M. this started on a clear Tuesday morning. The FAA shutdown all aircraft takeoffs nationwide across town. Two of the planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Often referred to as 9/11, the attacks resulted in extensive death and destruction, triggering major U.S. initiatives to combat terrorism and defining the presidency of George W. Bush. Over 3,000 people were killed during the attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., including more than 400 police officers and firefighters. This insult left a burning hole near the 80th floor of the 110-story skyscraper, instantly killing hundreds of people and trapping hundreds more in higher floors. The planes were scheduled to leave within twelve minutes of each other. Aboard each plane were terrorists who were part of a coordinated attack plan. The attackers were Islamic terrorists from Saudi Arabia and several other Arab nations. The day was as routine as any in New York, New York and Washington, D.C. Before ordinary passenger jets became fiery menaces, people in the World Trade Center and Pentagon were working at personal computers, typing letters or reading e-mail, speaking on the phone or processing paperwork. None of the civilians seemed to know what was to happen.…...

Back to School

... Back to shcool For many families, the crisp scent of the fall air is a signal that it is time to start preparing for going back to school. Shopping for new pencils, backpacks and notebooks is always an exciting time for both parents and children alike. Because children have an interest in the things that they are purchasing for school, this is also a great time to discuss how to budget a back to school allowance. When planning for how students will be spending their back to school funds, there are a few key areas that families will want to keep in mind. 1. Back to School Lunches School lunches can vary in both their price and their appeal according to different school systems. Parents will need to consider whether their child will be taking their lunch on some days or buying a lunch from the cafeteria during the week. Another aspect of school lunches for families to discuss is if a student will also be buying breakfast as this can substantially increase a back to school budget. If the student will be allowed to purchase extras such as dessert, then this will also need to be planned out beforehand. Families will also want to plan for any extra snacks or meals that a student might wish to have for when they get home after school. Depending upon the school, parents can decide upon the best way to handle this portion of a student’s back to school allowance for kids. Some schools arrange for an account to be set up so that parents can prepay while others simply accept cash. How......

Walmart: the High Cost of Low Price

...company to engage in such actions. In fact, shoe companies, such as Nike, and clothing companies, such as Hollister, are known to make their products in sweatshops. Some of the allegations brought up against Walmart proved to be true. On of their major attacks were, “The income of a Walmart associate is below the poverty level in America.” They continued by providing customer testimonies that stated that they wanted to quit but they could not afford too. Walmart should not be ridiculed for the amount of money they pay their associates. To get a job at Walmart you must be 16. You do not need a high school diploma. It is an entry-level job. The associates should not expect to be paid a lot of money for a job that does not require even a high shcool diploma. My advice for such associates is go back to school and get a proper job to support your family. Working a dead end job with “a raise of $1.80 a year” is not going to get you places. They also claim that the insurance provided by Walmart is not sufficient and is too expensive. As my previous argument stated you will not get a lot of money working at Walmart. I do however think that Walmart could make the premiums to its health care insurance a little more affordable for the workers that work there. Another alternative is to move to Canada. We have free healthcare, so this is not a problem here. One of their more memorable arguments was the accusation of violating human rights, as well of being sexist. I believe these......

How to Develop a Super-Power Memory

...pudding is in the fact that most children excel in at least one particular subject, even though they have poor marks in all the others. If a student has a good memory for one subject, he is a good student in that subject. If he can't remember, or has a poor memory in that subject, he will be a poor student in that subject. It's as simple as that. However, this proves that the student does have a good memory for things that he likes, or is interested in. Many of you who went through High School had to take a foreign language or two. Do you still remember these languages? I doubt it. If you've travelled in foreign countries, or to places where they speak these particular languages, you've wished many times that you had paid more attention in shcool. Of course, if you knew that you were going to travel to these places, when you were in school, you would have been interested in learning the language; you would have wanted to do so. You'd have been amazed to find how much better your marks would have been. I know that this is true in my case. If I had known then that I would want to know these languages, I'd have learned and/or remembered much more easily. Unfortunately, I didn't have a trained memory then. Many women will complain that their memories are atrocious, and that they can't remember a thing. These same women will describe and remember in detail what a lady friend was wearing when they met weeks ago. They usually can spot another woman in a car travelling up to......

An Assessment of Sim: a Basis for the Improvement of the Guidance Program in Public Elementary Shcool

...According to the beneficiaries of 4P’s whom I interviewed, they are grateful with the program of the government. For every poor Filipino family, three of their children receive three hundred pesos (P300.00) each while their mother receives an amount of five hundred pesos (P500.00) every month. The amount received by the children is used to pay the fees in the school, used to buy notebooks, ball pen, paper, projects, and other school needs. On the other hand, the amount received by the parent is used to start a small business like a small sari-sari store or buying and selling of vegetables and a partial amount of the money received from the program is used to buy for their personal needs. On the contrary, other parents who are beneficiaries of this program are using the amount of money in sustaining their vices like drinking, smoking, and gambling. Parents who are proven guilty of the said act is penalized by a warning for their first offense and disqualifying them for their second offense. Once the child reaches fifteen years of age, the support from the government will automatically cease. The support from the government is also transferrable to his or her younger sister or brother once the child reaches the said age. The support to the parent will also automatically cease once all of their children reaches the age of fifteen. Conclusion: It is true that the support from the government to poor Filipino families is very visible and is a great help. However, is this......

...Sieanna Fulmore Professor Biddle ENG 102 07 February 2014 Essay 1: Diversity Diversity is integral to excellence. We value and honor diverse experiences and perspectives, strive to create welcoming and respectful learning environments, and promote access, opportunity and justice for all. Maya's writings have a way of embracing people and successfully state her thoughts and emotions. "Pulse" is a call for hope and opportunity part of our history. Maya Angelou's poem ' On the Pulse of Morning' relates to diversity, change over time, and equality. When analyzing her poem, we came across stanzas that relate to these topics. Her poem has successfully portrayed a sense of diversity. Many lines in different stanzas are related to diversity. Stanza four and five, states, "The singing River, and the wise Rock. So say the Asian, the Hispanic, the Jew, the African, the Native American, the Sioux, the Catholic, the Muslim, the French , the Greek, the Irish, the Rabbi, the Sheik, the Gay, the Straight, the Preacher, the privileged, the Homeless, the Teacher. They hear. They all hear the speaking of the tree." They are united by nature, but different due to their culture. In stanza six a lot about diversity has been acknowledged. The people who once helped Maya, do not anymore. It also says that we arrived from the Indians. In the course of history, elements of society have changed. Examples through Maya's work are, "The dinosaur, who left dried tokens of their sojourn here... Is......

...Fucking Kyle. (Mated to a King) #BK1 CHAPTER ONE: "Chuck!" I stormed into the tattoo parlor eager to have my tattoo completed. "Is that you Jessica?" Chuck yelled from behind the purple velvet curtains. I grinned and spun around. "The one and only! you ready to finish my tattoo sweetcheeks?" my gaze slide over to the boys. The football players, they lazed around on the sofa's all laughing and slapping the number one, most wanted guy in shcool. Andrew. But now they stared at me, shock evident on their faces. Jade and Harper looked shocked as well, jaws slightly aslack. The one man that held my attention was Kyle, his grey eyes glared into mine filled with something sinfully dark I found myself gulping, his lips curled into a cruel smile and he scoffed before looking away. "Gimme ten minutes sweetheart. I'll be out soon just buy some food. Its on me!" Yes. I was starving. "You are darling Chuck! I'd marry you if I could!" I yelled back already hopping towards the phone on the counter. I called my favourite Kebab House and ordered a donner kebab. "You want anything Chuck?" I was well aware of the boys staring at me, there eyes trailing over my low cut, off shoulder crop jumper to my camel skort and then to my lace stockings down to my heeled sandals. My tattoes peaked out of the hem of my skirt, and I pulled off my gloves revealing the trbial marks tattoed on my hands. "Get me whatever your getting!" he yelled, I could hear to low hum from the tattoo stick......

...1 Percent vs. General Public Upper class vs. the common people and the effects of the upper class interest to keep power; how well does the 1 percent of America represent my interest? I say it is a 50/50 relationship. They like money and power, and they, would do whatever it takes to keep it, so the decisions keep business as usual helps keep people employed but at the same time business as usual can mean the opposite. Money equals power, and I believe that, there (Americas 1 percent) interest to keep making money and to keep power they would do what’s required to keep our economy going witch mean job security for right now. Job security is something scares right now, and economy is not getting better. When the upper 1 percent of America that’s controls large businesses that employee a majority of our community decide to move to another country to save money that is when we (community) have conflicted interest with the upper 1 percent. Interest and conflict is something happening all too much now a day. America’s general public is not much different from the upper class when it comes to interest. The upper 1 percent wants to make money and so do the general public the only difference is that if the upper 1 percent decides to take their assets to another state let alone another country our general public will end -up with conflict. This is just one of the main reasons our economy is hurting, and our general public unemployment rate has gone up. It is a 50/50......
