1.0 Introduction
This assignment is based on some Financial Ratios and their analyses based on a
Bangladeshi company listed in Stock Market. This study is on the three years’ data (20082010) of the company ‘Shinepukur Ceramics Limited’, which are collected from their annual report of the respective years. Due to lack to data, this study doesn’t cover any other industrial comparison. So, this assignment is majorly dependent on the company specific data set gathered from the company annual report. This study covers some major ratios of
Financial Management.

The company was established with both individual and institutional shareholding but later the company was fully acquired by Bangladesh Export Import Company Limited ( Beximco) in 2005. The Company was converted into a Public Limited Company on 7 May 2008. RAK, Fu Wang, China-Bangla, FARR, Modhumoti, ATI, Sunflower, Great Wall, Dhaka-Sanghai and Mir are considered as major manufacturers of tiles and sanitary wares. The total capacity of ceramic tableware manufacturing companies is nearly 24,000 tons a year as of 2008, of which an average of 48 percent is exported and the remaining 52 percent is used in the domestic market. Monno and Shinepukur have the highest production capacity of nearly 60,000 pieces a day, followed by Standard ceramics with 40,000 pieces a day. Tajma is the oldest modern ceramic manufacturing plant in Bangladesh. Its production was very small and the quality of the product was not so good. The Pakistan Ceramic Industries Ltd. was established in early 1960's and it started production in 1966. Later it was renamed as Peoples Ceramic Industries Ltd. In 2004, Bangladesh had nearly fourteen ceramic industry units. Five of them are fairly large and these are Monno Ceramic Industries, Shinepukur Ceramic Industries, Bengal Fine Ceramic Industries, Standard Ceramic Industries and Peoples Ceramic Industries. ...Current ratio Shinepukur: From 2009 to 2010, current ratio of Shinepukur has increased by 0.24 because of increase in total current assets and decrease in total current liabilities. The increase in total current has occurred for increase in accounts-and-other-receivables, advances-deposits-and-prepayments and cash. Among these elements, the increase in advances-deposits-and-prepayments is significant (from 82182270 to 278773841). On the other hand, the element that has decreased total current liabilities is long-term loan with current maturity (from 386928629 to 243718941). From 2010 to 2011, current ratio of Shinepukur has decreased by 0.14 because of decrease in total current assets and increase in total current liabilities. The decrease in total current assets has incurred for decrease in both advances-deposits-and-prepayments and cash. Among these two elements, the decrease in advances-deposits-and-prepayments is significant (from 278773841 to 112190532). And, total-current-liabilities has increased for the increase in short-term loan from bank and creditors-accruals-and-other-payables among which short-term loan from bank has played key role (from 955808744 to 1147673708).
