...First, we will analyze the junior accountant’s work. The junior accountant of Lessee thought that “since the equipment reverts back to Lessor Inc., it is an operating lease.” However, this was incorrect because based on the IAS 17, paragraph 10 – Accounting for Leases: “Situations that would normally lead to a lease being classified as a finance lease include the following: • the lease term is for the major part of the economic life of the asset, even if title is not transferred • at the inception of the lease, the present value of the minimum lease payments amounts to at least substantially all of the fair value of the leased asset” The Lessee would lease the equipment for three years and the useful life for the equipment was four years. As a result, the lease term was 75% (exhibit 1) of the economic life of the asset. Moreover, the present value of the annual payments would be $263,716 and the fair value of asset was only $265,000. The present value of the minimum lease payment would be 99.5% (exhibit 1) of the fair value of the leased asset. These situations would satisfy the requirement of IAS 17 to determine the lease as a finance lease. Next, we will look at the senior accountant’s work. The senior accountant’s analysis was correct because he/she determined the lease as a finance lease based on the fact that the lease term was for the major part of the economic life of the asset. However, in order to calculate the lease asset and obligation the senior accounting......

He declared his eligibility for the NBA Draft upon graduation, and was selected with the 13th overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets, then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. As a rookie, Bryant earned himself a reputation as a high-flyer and a fan favorite by winning the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest. Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal led the Lakers to three consecutive championships from 2000 to 2002. A heated feud between the duo and a loss in the 2004 NBA Finals was followed by O'Neal's trade from the Lakers after the 2003–04 season. Following O'Neal's departure Bryant became the cornerstone of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise. He led the NBA in scoring during the 2005–06 and 2006–07 seasons, setting numerous scoring records in the process. Advocate for Victims and Survivors of Fighting Breeds

...My name is Michaela and I am a mother of a family pit bull survivor. When I first started to become an advocate for victims and survivors of fighting breed dog attacks, I found out very quickly that there is a lot of owners out there that are as viscous as their dogs attack style. The very first comment someone made to me because they couldn't get me to agree with what they were saying was,"I wish your son had died." Since then I have been threatened, bashed, called a racist, hater, compared to Nazis, and told I should be shot. These same type of people have taken my facebook pictues and put them on troll pages just to take shots at me. Just the other day I asked someone who was bashing me,"Where is your compassion for the victims?" They responded by saying,"I know all about you people and your victim mentality." They continued by saying,"You people blame everything bad in your lives on pit bulls." I remember thinking,"My God, these are the kind of people who own these dogs." Some of these people only have compassion for these animals. They put these dogs on a pedestal like Gods and the rest of the world be damned. How can we count on owners to take the precautions they need to if they won't even admit that these serious and fatal injuries are the result of irresponsible ownership and the attack style of these type of dogs. They can't understand that all dog breeds have irresponsible owners. So if it was purely an bad ownership problem then every breed of dogs would be......

...For Colored Girls is a play written by Ntozake Shange at the peak of the black feminist movement, in 1975. It is a collection of poems that tell the story of seven women of color and how their lives interconnect. The play deal with deep subject matter such as rape, abortions, domestic abuse, and faith, as is delves into the lives of these women. The play ends as all of the women come together with an empowering scene about the strength in womanhood. How do struggles, specifically ones imposed on women such as rape and domestic abuse, create strength and empowerment that would have never been attained without enduring such life experiences? In For Colored Girls, all of the women find strength in each other and faith in order to overcome their individual struggles and find strength to continue on with life. They become stronger individuals that they once were and that strong power that they now posses is from believe in themselves and their ability to persevere. In the 2009 film, Precious, a young girl lives through torment as she grows up in section 8 housing with an abusive mother and father, but when she decides that she has had enough she breaks free to try to obtain the life she has always dreamed of. ...Region, the Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG), FATF-style regional body, was founded in 1997, of which Bangladesh is a founding member. FATF has further extended its mandate to include Proliferation Financing and accumulated all 40+9 recommendations into 40 Recommendations in February 2012. In line with the international initiatives and standards, Bangladesh has also enacted Money Laundering Prevention Act (MLPA), 2012 (repealing the MLPA, 2009) and Anti Terrorism Act (ATA), 2009 (as amended in 2012). The new acts address all the deficiencies identified in the 2nd Mutual Evaluation of Bangladesh conducted by APG in 2008 to determine the extent of its compliance, with the global standards. Both the Acts have empowered Bangladesh Bank (BB) to perform the anchor role in combating ML&TF through issuing guidance and directives for reporting agencies including Financial Institutions (FIs), as defined in section 2(g) of MLPA, 2012. These Guidance Notes are designed to assist FIs in combating money laundering and terrorist financing. Bangladesh Bank, as part of its supervisory process, will use these Guidance Notes as minimum criteria against which it will assess the adequacy of policies, internal controls and procedures of the FIs. These Guidance Notes are deemed to be the national best practice for FIs to comply with the Bangladesh's AML/CFT regulation but not constitute a legal interpretation of the said acts. It is advised that the FIs pay due regard to these Guidance......

Survivors Speak Out: Adult Stem Cells Save Lives

...There are over thirty three million people in the world with HIV. If a cure was found imagine how many lives could be saved and as a result of these lives being saved, how many more would be created. While many argue there are other ways to go about similar research as stem cells, they are less effective and often do not provide the diverse array of experiments available when using stem cells. Reaves states that “to turn back now, researchers say, would be tantamount to turning our backs on a bright, sustaining light because we are terrified of the shadows it creates” (Reaves). In order to cure the diseases of today we must use the technology of tomorrow and the technology of tomorrow is stem cell research. Work Cited Townsend, Liz. Survivor Syndrome

...Table of Contents Question 1 2 Introduction 2 Reactions to frustration 2 Analysis of organisational behaviour 3 Question 2 4 Question 3 5 Introduction 5 What is survivor syndrome? 5 Question 1 Give an overview of the frustration model and how it can be used to analyse organisational behaviour Introduction Frustration occurs when a motivated drive is blocked before a person reaches a desired goal. The barrier may either be overt (outward, or physical) or covert (inward, or mental-socio-psychological). Overt acts might include strikes, work slowdowns, grievances, or lawsuits. Covert acts would include sabotage, secret withholding of output and stealing of organisational property. A smooth progression of the need-driven incentive motivational cycle and fulfilment of one’s expectations do not always occur in reality. There are some difficulties and barriers that do not let a person achieve his goals and so they lead to frustration. The frustration model can be useful in the analysis of not only behaviour in general but also specific aspects of on-the-job behaviour as illustrated by. 12e in the model below F. Luthans (2011), Oganisational Behavior: Need Drive Goal/ (deficiency) (deficiency with direction incentives reduction of with direction) Barrier the drives and fulfilment (1) Overt deficiencies) (2) Covert Frustration Defence mechanisms (1) Aggression (2) Withdrawal (3) Fixation (4)......

Monetary Policy of Bb

...Monetary Policy Statement (July-December 2012: H1FY13) Executive Summary This issue of the Bangladesh Bank (BB) half yearly Monetary Policy Statement (MPS) outlines the monetary policy stance that BB will pursue in H1 FY13 (July-December 2012), based on an assessment of global and domestic macro-economic conditions and outlook. BB’s monetary policy has two major objectives: (i) maintaining inflation at moderate levels and (ii) supporting inclusive growth objectives of the Government. This MPS was preceded by productive consultations with a range of key stakeholders and web-based comments were also received. In FY10 and FY11 the global economy continued languishing in the aftermath of the 2009 global financial crisis and BB eased monetary policy in order to limit the impact on the Bangladesh economy. Due to this and other pro-active measures, the Bangladesh economy emerged largely unscathed from this global crisis, averaging over 6% growth between FY09 and FY11. In FY12 the economy faced a different set of challenges related to rising inflation and balance of payments pressures. In order to address these challenges BB’s monetary stance was more restrained than earlier years and yet able to accommodate a private sector credit growth rate which was more than sufficient to meet the initial GDP growth target. The monetary growth targets set in January 2012 were met and the key outcomes – falling inflation and containment of external sector pressures – were achieved...
