The Advantages and Disadvantages of Two Jobs
My neighbor Sue lives in a nice house and has two luxurious cars in the driveway. Her overtime hours at work are being eliminated, so the money she is used to making is becoming less. So, Sue must decide whether or not to take on a second job to live the way she is accustomed to. There are numerous advantages and disadvantages in working two jobs. Before deciding on working two jobs, it would be a good idea to consider these positives and negatives.
We should consider the benefits in deciding to have two jobs. The main reason for working two jobs is to provide enough income to survive and pay the bills. The additional income might make a difference in paying for a certain quality of life that someone is accustomed to living. In working two jobs, there is an opportunity to improve your skills in different areas. Sometimes the skills learned in the second job can improve the skills for the primary job. People may develop entirely different skills from the second job. You may have a competitive edge from working two jobs in the job market because you may have different skills to bring to your new job. You may have better experience than someone else has making you a more desirable candidate. Working two jobs provides more networking opportunities and interacting with more people. This could provide you with additional references and recommendations for future jobs. As a result of working two jobs, people develop stronger time management skills. These skills develop from the demands of different schedules, deadlines, and other elements of each job.
Although there are advantages of having two jobs, we must consider the disadvantages too. People who work two jobs commonly become very fatigued. This is particularly true if a person has family responsibilities to take care of in addition to the two jobs. One…...

Technology Advantage and Disadvantage

...Advantages and disadvantages of technology. In the last century many people did things by hand but nowadays more and more tasks have become automated. For example, many people have washing machines, clothes driers and dishwashers, so the amount of energy needed to wash and dry clothes and wash dishes is greatly reduced. As technology progresses, more and more of these tasks will be automatic, for example, vacuum cleaning or cutting the grass. In addition to this, improvements in technology have given us 24-hour a day entertainment from digital TV to video games. This means that there are fewer tasks to do, more time to do nothing and more opportunities to sit around and be entertained without moving very much. As we can see, there are both advantages and disadvantages to this. I will deal with the advantages firstly. I think, there are at least two positive effects of this. First of all, we don't need to do repetitive and uninteresting job like washing-up and this gives us more time to do other things. What we do with this time depends upon the individual. Secondly, for people, who are less able to do these jobs, like elderly or disabled people, these machines are a great help. Future developments may be able to help them even more. I think, this is the most positive side of technology. Now I will look at the disadvantages. As I mentioned, it is up to the individual what they do with this extra time. Unfortunately, instead of doing everyday tasks people tend to watch......

Advantages and Disadvantages of Technology

...Advantages and Disadvantages of Advanced Technology By Jin Sun K., Wellesley, MA Email me when Jin S. contributes work Today, we can’t imagine ourselves without technological advances such as cars, microwaves, cell phones, computers, and televisions. However, technology won’t stop here, but develop further. As technology develops, there are not only advantages, but disadvantages from them. A few advantages of upgraded technology are that one can save time and money and life will be made easier as a result of not having to do all the hard labor. In contrast, the disadvantages of upgraded technology are that people will loose their jobs to machines that will do the work for them. In addition, machines and robots are too complex for most people to use. I personally would want a developed world with advanced technologies. The following are the reasons why I do want a more advanced world with advanced technologies. My major reason is because when you have advanced technologies, life is much easier as robots and machines would take over your daily life chores. For example, daily life chores might be serving your breakfast, cutting your lawn, or cleaning your room. With robots and machines doing one’s chores one has time to relax. Another reason is because unlike humans, robots and machines do not make mistakes when programmed correctly. They always accomplish tasks perfectly so you won’t have to worry about making a mistake and getting trouble. Other reasons why I want......

...build a united and democratic South Africa able to take its rightful place as a sovereign state in the family of nations. Education and the curriculum have an important role to play in realising these aims. in 1997 we introduced outcomes-based education to overcome the curricular divisions of the past, but the experience of implementation prompted a review in 2000. This led to the first curriculum revision: the Revised National Curriculum Statement Grades R-9 and the National Curriculum Statement Grades 10-12 (2002). Ongoing implementation challenges resulted in another review in 2009 and we revised the Revised National Curriculum Statement (2002) and the National Curriculum Statement Grades 10-12 to produce this document. From 2012 the two national Curriculum statements, for Grades R-9 and Grades 10-12 respectively, are combined in a single document and will simply be known as the National Curriculum Statement Grades R-12. the National Curriculum Statement for Grades R-12 builds on the previous curriculum but also updates it and aims to provide clearer specification of what is to be taught and learnt on a term-by-term basis. the National Curriculum Statement Grades R-12 represents a policy statement for learning and teaching in south African schools and comprises of the following: (a) (b) Curriculum and Assessment Policy statements (CAPs) for all approved subjects listed in this document; National policy pertaining to the programme and promotion requirements of the......

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Two Contrasting Strategies for Managing Biodiversity

...biosphere reserves totally protected areas would be managed by large corporations which didn't account for indigenous people in Daintree. The Rainforest Cooperative Research Council recognise the right for Aborigine people to live and own the land they have sustainably lived on before modern cultures intervened. This has social benefits for Aborigine people as they are not marginalised by the management scheme. Thisalso means more cultural diversity within Australia which is a social advantage. Biosphere reserves also contain wildlife corridors which are areas of habitat connecting wildlife populations separated by human activities or structures such as roads, development, or logging. This allows an exchange of population from previously isolated areas which will increase the biological diversity of the habitat. This reduces the negative environmental impact of inbreeding and lack of genetic variation. Increased genetic variation will lead to better resistance to disease and predation. These two factors effecting species population will have less of an impact if there is more variation. These corridors also reduces social conflicts within communities. In Africa, Botswana houses the largest number of free-roaming elephant herds. Elephants Without Borders (EWB) studies the movement of elephants is working to gain community support of local community corridors, so that elephants and humans can co-exist.Ex situ conservation is the process of protecting an endangered species or......

Advantages and Disadvantages of Pursing an Mba

...Advantages and Disadvantages of Pursuing an MBA Advantages and Disadvantages of Pursing an MBA The decision to pursue a Master’s in Business Administration is a difficult, personal decision. In fact, I categorize it as a life changing decision. For instance, this decision is like most major decisions people make. Whether the decision is over buying a home, changing careers, starting a family or buying that dream car, it is usually laced with advantages and disadvantages, pros and cons, and benefits and consequences. Whether or not those advantages and disadvantages are tangible, quantifiable and measurable, most would agree that they exist and they sometimes have life changing affects. For example, some people think that it is a disadvantage to buy a home because it usually results in one securing a long-term loan whereby a monetary commitment is required from the borrower or homeowner. If this commitment is broken or one is unable to pay as agreed, the borrower or homeowner can lose valuable assets, seriously hinder their ability to borrow money in the future and be looked upon by the banking and financial community as a liability or risk. On the other hand, or some of the advantages of buying a home may result in credit worthiness, proves that you are trustworthy, disciplined and according to Weintrub (2010), “gives one a sense of pride in ownership, stability and security” (para. 2.). With the above mention in mind, I will explore my personal advantages and......

The advantages are the following: reduction in critical resources, provides ability to focus on core business, yields cost savings, provides flexibility, reduction overhead costs, etc. The disadvantages are as follows: loss of managerial control, hidden costs, threat to security and confidentiality, quality problems, tied to financial well-being of another company and bad publicity and ill-will. When you think of outsourcing do you think of a call center in India or jobs be taken away from Americans and sent overseas? Well, since the Industrial Revolution, companies have wrestled with how they can take advantage of their competitive advantage to increase their profits. The standard for majority of the 20th century was a large integrated company that can “own, manage, and directly......
