DO WAH DIDDY DIDDY

Manfred Mann on their 1964 single

(Barry/Greenwich)

There she was just a-walkin' down the street, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"

Snappin' her fingers and shufflin' her feet, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"

She looked good (looked good), she looked fine (looked fine)

She looked good, she looked fine and I nearly lost my mind

Before I knew it she was walkin' next to me, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"

Holdin' my hand just as natural as can be, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"

We walked on (walked on) to my door (my door)

We walked on to my door, then we kissed a little more

Whoa-oh, I knew we was falling in love

Yes I did, and so I told her all the things I'd been dreamin' of

Now we're together nearly every single day, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"

A-we're so happy and that's how we're gonna stay, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"

Well I'm hers (I'm hers), she's mine (she's mine)

I'm hers, she's mine, wedding bells are gonna chime

Whoa-oh, I knew we was falling in love

Yes I did, and so I told her all the things I'd been dreamin' of

Now we're together nearly every single day, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"

A-we're so happy and that's how we're gonna stay, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"

Well I'm hers (I'm hers), she's mine (she's mine)

I'm hers, she's mine, wedding bells are gonna chime

Whoa-oh-oh-oh, oh yeah

Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do, we'll sing it

Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do, oh yeah, oh, oh yeah

Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy…...

...smile. I've watched you sleeping for a while. I'd be the father of your child. I'd spend a lifetime with you. I know your fears and you know mine. We've had our doubts but now we're fine, And I love you, I swear that's true. I cannot live without you. Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend. You have been the one. You have been the one for me. And I still hold your hand in mine. In mine when I'm asleep. And I will bare my soul in time, when I'm kneeling at your feet. Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend. You have been the one. You have been the one for me. I'm so hollow, baby, I'm so hollow. I'm so, I'm so, I'm so hollow. I'm so hollow, baby, I'm so hollow. I'm so, I'm so, I’m so hollow STORY BEYOND THE SONG I read the song as the goodbye of a man to his girlfriend and to his best friend since he’s not alive anymore. My dialogue intends to be the conversation between the two guys that have just lost one of the most important people in their life. In a completely different context from the pact, Julie as Rameck will need to move on without her beloved....

Died with a Song

...“How Old Timofei Died With A Song” Analysis In Rike’s short story, “How Old Timofei Died With A Song” the story is told from the point of view of first person. Even though you never really know who the narrator is, the narrator tells you about how they enjoy telling stories to paralyzed people then goes on to tell a story about a man, Timofei who is the greatest singer of songs that is passed down from generation to generation. Timofei’s son leaves him to marry a peasant girl and when he does Timofei can no longer sing because he is so overwhelmed with grief. The son finally comes back, leaving his family, when he finds out how sick his father is, and there his father teaches him all of the songs he knows until he passes. Once Timofei passed, the son went out through the villages singing the songs with a tone that no one else has ever had. The narrator and the paralyzed man hint that maybe it was because he was so lonely, and died alone. Even though the point of view is first person, by the narrator telling a story it almost turns into limited omniscient, which the author probably did because it gives the story an interesting twist. By the author making the narrator switch point of views in the story it gives it a different feel, but is needed because it helps you understand the story that the narrator is telling more. If Rike wrote the story without the narrator telling it to the paralyzed man then you would never have the ending, “’So he didn’t learn that tone from......

...The song Temporary Home was featured on Carrie Underwood’s hit album Play On that was released in October of 2009. This song had no impact on me at all until March of 2010. One of my dearest friends, Breanna Nicole Barber, was in a motorcycle dirt bike accident. She fell off of the bike hitting her head causing major brain damage. She was a vegetable and was taken off of life support. Her funeral was several days later and it was really the most unbelievable thing that has ever happened to me. They played Temporary Home at her funeral. I knew what a temporary home meant to me. It meant that one day I’d be at my final destination and that would be heaven. In these next few paragraphs I will reinforce the word ‘temporary’. I’ll describe to you my idea of why Carrie Underwood addresses 3 different stages of life. The word ‘temporary’ is specifically reinforced numerous times throughout the song. Carrie uses phrases like, “house that will never be a home”, “nowhere to go”, “passing through”, and “just a stop”. We have a clear understanding of most of these things and that they intend on being for a short period of time. [What about these words/phrases?] Carrie introduces three different stages of life throughout the song. First she mentions a little boy who is in foster care that keeps getting moved and placed in homes that feel unwelcoming to him. Then she mentions a single mom that needs help, has a baby, and practically has nothing. Lastly she mentions an......

Song of Songs

...Song of Songs Rabbi Aqiba once said that “For in all the world there is nothing to equal the day on which the Song of Songs was given to Israel, for all the writings are Holy, but the Song of Songs is the Holy of Holies.” (Davidson) This statement is made in regards to whether or not the book “Song of Songs” is to be included in the canon on the Bible. This book is a collection of songs and love poetry between two lovers. This book can be considered as an allegory of human sexuality, or divine love. However, there is no direct mention of the Divine Presence anywhere within the book. Even the Jewish Rabbis with the most understanding of biblical concepts regarding sexuality have trouble agreeing that a book of seemingly secular love poetry should be included in the sacred canon.(Davidson) When Aqiba said the Song of Songs was the Holy of Holies, he probably intended that to mean that the Song was detailed symbolism of the historical relationship between Yahweh (the Divine Presence) and the people of Israel from the Exodus to the coming of the Messiah.(Davidson) During the time, sexual feelings were considered pagan and evil. Some Christian allegorists believe that the author (or authors) of the songs wrote in a way that disguised sexual expressing as a yearning for God. Most scholars believe that the authors purposely wrote about yearning for God in an incredibly sexual way to further imply the strong emotions behind said yearning. These songs are regardless a type of......

The Anatomy of a Song

...childhood. Once I hit my teenage years music became my life and gradually started to inhibit my soul. I believe music has the ability to convey all sorts of emotion. Whether the emotion is joy and happiness or sadness and despair through rhythms, harmonies and the lyrics music shows it. The song “A little bit longer” by Nick Jonas is such an emotional and inspiring song that when I hear it, I always come close to tears, especially when I watch it being played live. The effect that music can have on our emotions is tremendous, as it can bring people to floods of tears or bursts of laughter. The musical images that music and song are able to create are amazing. Music has the ability to transport me back in time just like a time machine. It lets me revisit lost and forgotten moments in life. Songs can paint a picture, for example in classical and country music where a story is being told. The music in classical music tells a story without lyrics which is an immensely powerful thing. I feel that this applies to the saying “music imitates life and life imitates music”. Recently song writing has wandered its way into my life. I believe there is no better way to express myself than through song. After a bad day, it’s nice to be able to sit down and write about it. It can make all your problems just disappear and float away. Listening to other musical artists that I like gives me inspiration. My guitar teacher also points me in the right direction and gives me guidance as I need......

The Song

...The song "where Is the Love?" written by will.i.am, Taboo, apl.de.ap, with help of others such as Ron Fair, and recorded by the American hip-hop group The Black Eyed Peas. In this song, The Black Eyed Peas lament on various issues in the World, such as terrorism, racism, hypocrisy about the U.S. government, war, pollution, intolerance, and greed. I choose this song because as I was watching this music video, I thought that there are lots of worldwide issues that make our world disharmony and difficulty. I think the video describes nowadays world. Today the world is corrupted and vicious. There is at least a hundred murder cases in a day, happenings dealing with terrors and discrimination occur all around the world almost every second. It is easier to find hypocrisy and racism than peace and love. Furthermore, media and government highly influence people. For example, in the music video, children are playing violent games likely to act what they see in the media. Also, false information from media and government give negative images. I believe the mostly impacted for all corruptions of the world is our children, the next generation. In my opinion, people should be honest and try to make our world peaceful and lovable for our future generations. This is my interpretations of the first verse of lyrics. The question mark that appears in the intro of the song represents “Where is the love?” in the world. The first and second line of the first verse ‘What's wrong with......

...The song I choose to do was “ Runaway Love” by Ludacris ft. Mary J. Blige. The song focuses on three different scenarios dealing with young girls from the ages of 9-11. For the first scenario it focuses on a nine year old whose mother had many different men in her life. Throughout the men who go in and out of her mother life they are sexually abusing her. She tells her mother what is happening, but her mother does not believe her. The second scenario is about an eleven year old who is being beat by her alcoholic father and only had one friend who understands her. Walking home from school one day the friend is shot by a drive by bullet. Now she is left alone because that’s was the only person she had. On the last scenario an eleven year old is doing drugs and being sexually active with males that are older. She knows if her mom finds out she will go crazy. The sum of the three stories are these young girls are going through situation where they wish they could runaway and just forget everything that has happened. The race that the song is mainly directed towards all nationalities because these things can happen to anyone. Accent- slang speaking in a way that a more African American audience would understand Gender- targeted to mainly females Class- lower class which is the poor because all the situation the parents were struggling financially or had some type of situation...

...Limp Bizkit's jam! Limp Bizkit played their best hits as well as the songs from the early career. Rap-metal charge of Limp Bizkit reacted with the energy of the crowd, and detonated with the two-hour blast. The sound of band’s live performance was worth of praise. It was as close as possible to the studio recordings. The volume was arranged perfectly, therefore, it was easy to hear every beat from any corner of the auditorium. There was no headache and temporary deafness as sometimes happens after the performance of rock bands. Each member of the band was worth of compliments and endless praise. There was no doubt about the mastery of Limp Bizkit. This band has gone through thousands of shows during 20 years of their career and they know exactly how to interact with the audience. The energy was oozing through the artists allowing fans to get rid of all negativity and enjoy the good vibes the band was sending. The guitarist, Wes Borland, expressed himself through the air tearing guitar riffs and expressive gestures, giving the audience an example of how to behave on the Limp Bizkit's shows. Sam Rivers tormented his LED bass. After the concert, the fans referred to John Otto as “the god of thunder” because of his flawless drum performance. Fred Durst showed himself as first-class front man who is able to stir up the crowd with one word or one shout. A roll call with the audience during the song “Livin 'It Up” (It'll eat a hole - what? Down inside of me - what?......

Song Analysis

...alternative rock band Coldplay, explains this intangible terror, in a song called "Trouble". The song was released in the United Kingdom on October 26, 2000. Not long after, the song became a hit, and would go onto win countless awards and gain worldwide popularity. Martin uses personification and symbolism to illustrate different ways of feeling after a bitter relationship. Afterwards, he uses the literary device refrain to describe the theme in an apologetic tone. Finally uses repetition to exemplify his conflict with his conscience which leaves the listener wondering the "what if" of their past. This is a six-stanza free verse love song, which explains feelings of remorse after a relationship has come to an end. The first three stanzas consist of a Quatrain, which go in-depth of self-realization of the mistakes he made in the past. The fourth stanza has five lines, which illustrate how lonesome he feels. The third and fifth stanza is refrain, since it is a chorus. The chorus creates an apologetic tone, which can also be picked up throughout the rest of the song. The last three lines also have repetition to demonstrate on how his guilt manifests into a superego.  Martin uses personification and symbolism in the second line of the first stanza, which states, "A spider web, it's tangled up with me" to explain how there is an internal fight he must overcome. The term "spider web" repeats a few more times in the song that captures the audience to relate to their selves. The......

Folk Song

...MEANING OF FOLKSONG A consistent definition of traditional folk music is elusive. The terms folk music, folk song, and folk dance are comparatively recent expressions. They are extensions of the term folklore, which was coined in 1846 by the English antiquarian William Thomas to describe "the traditions, customs, and superstitions of the uncultured classes." The term is further derived from the German expression Volk, in the sense of "the people as a whole" as applied to popular and national music by Johann Gottfried Herder and the German Romantics over half a century earlier. Traditional folk music also includes most indigenous music. However, despite the assembly of an enormous body of work over some two centuries, there is still no certain definition of what folk music (or folklore, or the folk) is. Folk music may tend to have certain characteristics[2] but it cannot clearly be differentiated in purely musical terms. One meaning often given is that of "old songs, with no known composers", another is that of music that has been submitted to an evolutionary "process of oral transmission.... the fashioning and re-fashioning of the music by the community that give it its folk character." Such definitions depend upon "(cultural) processes rather than abstract musical types...", upon "continuity and oral transmission...seen as characterizing one side of a cultural dichotomy, the other side of which is found not only in the lower layers of feudal, capitalist and some oriental...

Song Analysis

...Bob Dylan - "Maggie's Farm" I chose this song because it is a classic Dylan song; it reflects his poetic style and how he wanted to make music, write songs, and experiment because it's what he wanted to do, and if it upset people, then so be it. I believe that the meaning of this song is that Dylan was a worker for his fans, the record company, the press, and the media but not for himself, and that he was going to break away from being pigeonholed into one genre of music and do what he felt like doing. Music wise, this song represents a strong change in Dylan's style. Up until the mid 60's, Dylan was strictly known as a folk singer and songwriter. His music usually composed of an acoustic guitar and a harmonica and occasionally another instrument here or there. This song represents Dylan's change to an electric rock sound, but still stayed true to his folk and blues roots. The music of this song has a very bluesy feel to it which may represent the working that he describes. The lyrics to "Maggie's Farm" go along perfect with Dylan's sudden change of sound. I believe that "Maggie" was intended to represent the people who listened to his music. He says that in the morning he would "pray for rain", which could have symbolized that he doesn't want to have to work, and that he had "a head full of ideas that are drivin' me insane". I feel that this represents that he wasn't able to break free and truly express himself. He also says "it's a shame the way she makes me scrub the...
