Sample Essay – My Summer Vacation
I had a fantastic summer vacation! My family and I spent a lot of time at the beach. We also went on a trip to Disney World. We ended our summer by traveling to southern California for a soccer tournament. It was nice to be able to spend so much time with my family this summer.
In the beginning of the summer, I went to the beach with my kids at least once a week. We were so lucky because every time we were at the beach I saw the dolphins splashing playfully in the surf. We would usually arrive around 12:00, when the sand was as hot as coals in a barbecue.
Sometimes we would stay until 7:00 in the evening. At the end of the day I loved to watch the flaming red ball creep slowly down into the shimmering ocean. Going to the beach is my favorite thing to do in the summer.
Towards the middle of my summer vacation, my whole family and I flew to Florida to visit Disney World. We had never been before, and I could not believe how big and beautiful the Disney property was. It was like being in the center of a rainbow. Everywhere you looked, there was loads of color. The weather was hot and humid. We were soaked with sweat the entire time, but we were able to refresh ourselves in the beach-like pool.
We stayed at a hotel called The Beach Club, and the pool there actually had sand at the bottom of it. It was fun to travel all the way to Florida.
As my vacation was coming to an end, we made a trip to Huntington
Beach for my daughter’s soccer tournament. It was the first one we had been to since May, and I was anxious to see her team play. The weekend was filled with high-scoring soccer games and the company of good friends.
Although I felt like a chicken roasting over an open flame in the extreme heat, I was grateful that I was not the one having to run around the soccer field. Haley’s team made it all the way to the…...

Christmas Vacation

...was Thursday morning, December 23, and I rolled over and tried to focus a bleary eye on my alarm clock. I was 30 minutes late starting my Christmas vacation. Vacations are suppose to be fun, restful periods, so I had a strong inclination to do that and go back to sleep. But no, that’s not the American way. We have to go, go, go in order to get the most out of our vacations. We set schedules, make reservations and become slaves to them. I started wishing I were Samoan. Many folks stay home and celebrate Christmas with family and friends, but not me. I am a bachelor who likes to take every opportunity to go places and see new things. I have no family except two sisters – one 500 miles away and the other 3000 miles away. I had a month off from work, and I certainly wasn’t going to waste it hanging around the house and watching myself grow old. I had packed the previous day and partied the previous night, so my things were ready but I was not. It is difficult to overcome the urge to stay in bed and say the heck with plans. I’m not sure why I didn’t. I made my unsteady way into the bathroom where a hot shower put me in a better frame of mind. An hour later my dog Nina and I were in my truck and headed for the stable to get my horse and trailer. Nina and my horse are my immediate family, so I like to take them with me on vacation whenever possible. At the stable a colleague of mine, Pam, was visiting my horse BJ. She watched as I quickly hooked up my trailer and loaded BJ....

...The shadow of the palm trees reflecting on the soft sand at the beach side, while the waves of the beach are hitting the ground, is what makes this place so special. Just to imagine sitting at the beach while the palm trees are creating a shadow on my skin, and at the same time their branches are waving back and forth to provide a clear and clean breeze, is so relaxing. Therefore, I chose this State for my favorite vacation place. This alone that the nickname of the State is Sunshine State (en.wikipedia.org) shows a lot because that is what it is all about, a place to recognize the sun and its amazing features warming up the world to the joy of its people, making the climate so pleasant and relaxing. In fact, throughout the winter season, the climate is never below 60 degree and frost has never been reported there (www.statesymbolsusa.org). Furthermore, whenever I was there the sun always shone brightly comforting me with his strong sun rays, making it a place to escape from the cold New York during the freezing winter days. While strolling down the long and endless boardwalk, I got so inspired by its breathtaking sceneries. Starting from the beautiful beach view continuing to the white sand covered shore on one side, and on the other side many sky-high luxurious hotels each one with its amazing spa areas including incredible outdoor saunas and heated pools. Even after sunset the area does not lose its nice view since the colorful eye-catching lights take over by......

...Tarsha Strong English 1101/Mrs.Staton Reflective Essay 29 June 2013 A Memorable Bahamas Vacation Its 10:15 am, we are getting ready to board the ship. I am relieved to be standing after sitting in an RV for 10 hours while riding from Georgia to Florida. My aunts, cousins, and my mom are smiling and hugging each other because they are happy to see my family that we have not seen in awhile. We wave goodbye to my uncles as they drive off. As I walk toward the ship I become anxious and excited. I’m holding my luggage and smiling at the attendant. I look at my mom and say, “I can’t believe we are headed to the Bahamas.” We are standing in a long line waiting to check in our entire luggage. The security officers are making sure we don’t have things that are not allowed. Now that we are finished, my mom and I head to our room. We take the elevator to the third floor where our room is located. I open the door to our room and I see two twin beds with cute little animals on them made with towels. My mom has an alligator and I have an elephant. I take a picture and smile because I think this is so cool. Now its time for me to shower, so I sit my luggage on the bed, take out a nice sun dress, and head for the shower. First we head to the top floor of the ship. Everyone must do a safety drill. The captain comes on over a loud speaker and welcomes everyone to the cruise. Then he begins the speech of all the safety rules. The staff members are demonstrating how to use the......

Doc.Summer Vacation

...Crystal Cortez August 29, 2013 My Summer Vacation Well I think my summer was boring. I didn't really go anywhere. To start off, I went to the beach with my family. While we were at the beach me and my sister played volleyball. After, playing for like 15 min. I got tired of playing so, I went in the water for a little while. When i got out of the water my family decided to go get something to eat. Once we were done eating we went back to the beach for like 30 minutes. It started to get dark, so we decided to go home. Second thing I did over the summer was go to the theaters to watch "After Earth". When the movie ended and we were exiting out, there was a man that was coming in, I was right infront of door, it opened and got hit in the face. That wasn't very exciting, but anywas a little after that Iwent back to the theaters and I watched "Pacific Rim". When the movie was done I was going down the steps, I almost fell. So, as you can tell the theaters aren't very safe. The third thing I did over the summer was move to different house. We moved like within a week school ended. When we were moving around our stuff I dropped a box on my foot and it gave me a brase. Me and my sister chose our rooms'. So then we started moving our stuff in. My parents moved there stuff in also. The fourth thing I did this summer was go to the zoo with Lety. It was cool seeing all the different kinds of animals. Virtual Vacation

...A vacation to New Zealand, even with similarities to the United States, requires a certain amount of preparation; it is not a three-hour trip to Disney, it is a 17-hour time difference that requires knowledge of: local customs, location, weather, current issues, and future expectations. New Zealand: Having never been to New Zealand, I find it very interesting that it was the last major landmass that humans discovered (Wilson). Though the time line is heavily debated, most scientists approximate that man settled some time 800 years ago. In comparison to North America, which is somewhere around 25,000 years, New Zealand is still young (Warner pg. 47). Important Considerations Location, Climate, and Topography: • Southeast of Australia, New Zealand is similar in size to Colorado; its southern location from the Equator means opposite seasons from Europe and North America. • New Zealand’s climate is classified as Cbf (Fig. 2). • Most of the North Island lies on the Australia Plate, where as the South Island is on the Pacific Plate (Fig. 1). This, combined with active volcanoes, creates a hotbed for seismic and volcanic activity (CIA). • One quarter of the earthquakes have been below a 2.0 magnitude, but within the last year alone, New Zealand has seen 17,246 earthquakes with a majority ranging from 0-5 magnitudes (Geonet). (Fig. 2) Link: http://koeppen-geiger.vu-wien.ac.at/. Topography • New Zealand formed after the collision of the Australian......

Vacations

...Vacations Doris A. Davis Vacations Cruises appeal to many travelers because they are considered all-inclusive vacations. Pay one price and receive accommodations, meals, entertainment, and transportation between island and port destinations. But once onboard, many cruisers find themselves shelling out hundreds of additional dollars for shore excursions, alcoholic beverages, and gratuities. What happened to their supposedly all-inclusive vacation? Many land-based resorts also refer to themselves as all-inclusive, yet [the properties offer a different set of included amenities. As I look at the picture my mind can imagine exactly what my experience would be. So what does it really mean to be all-inclusive? I have compared the pictures of all-inclusive resort and cruises at sea I believe all-inclusive land resort vacations are the best. All-inclusive cruises and resorts tend to include different amenities in the base price. Book a mainstream cruise, and you'll receive accommodations, all meals and snacks, certain beverages at meal times, use of the ship's facilities (such as the pool, kids club, and fitness center), onboard activities and entertainment, and transportation between ports-of-call. You will have to pay extra for soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, tips for a waiter, spa treatments, shore excursions, airfare, and airport transfers. Luxury liners may include tips for the waiter and alcohol in their base price. On the other hand, book an all-inclusive resort......

Christmas Vacation

...Ariana Trask 4/28/2014 Storytelling from a childs point of view. Christmas Vacation When I was on vacation my family did lots of things. We went skiing and tubing. We made big snowmen, and had lots of snowball fights. My big brother helped me make a snow fort. It’s awesome! I can stand up inside it cuz it’s so big! My grammy and grampa came and stayed with us for Christmas. I love when they come visit, grammy always brings lots of candy and presents and grampa tells the funniest stories. I got so much cool stuff for Christmas. Santa brought me a doll house and lots of dolls with a car and lots of furniture for it. Mommy and daddy got me clothes, art thingys, a baby doll that actually goes potty, and a bunch more. Mommy gave me a special necklace. It’s called a locket. It’s a heart and opens, and there’s picture of our family inside it. It’s so pretty. I wore it on Christmas with my pretty dress. My dress was red with silver sparklys in it and a silver bow. Mommy put my hair in braids and helped me get dressed for Christmas dinner. I ate so much. I had turkey and ham and stuffing and cranberry sauce and pie and cookies and candy and mashed potatoes and carrots and rolls. I was so full my belly hurt. Mommy told me to go play with my toys and relax. I didn’t want to relax though. I wanted to play with my cousins. I never get to see them, and they were here. I love my cousins. We have so much fun playing together. We played tag and hide-and-go-seek. Then we all......

...A Great Vacation Have you ever been on a cruiz or to another state with amazing view? Whether you've given it any thought or not, there are many qualities that makes a vacation a great one. A vacation can be divided into three groups such as: great scenery, good food, and great weather. For most people, the hardest part about a vacation is figuring out where to go. Majority of the process of finding the spot is the scenery. There are many islands that have amazing views, and also huge cities that have city views; it's entirely up to you and your preferences as to where to go. Niagra falls, for example, is an amazing place to visit. The scenery is breathttaking, everyone consider the visit at least once in their life time. Dream Vacation

...A typical dream vacation usually consists of traveling to a foreign country such as Italy or to a more tropical setting such as Bora Bora. Although I would love to travel to these places I have a location completely different in mind. Not a significant amount prefer traveling to what I consider as my dream vacation location. To be completely honest I am not very educated when it comes to this place and I have no idea what to expect if I were to ever travel there. Despite this fact I am confident that my dream location is rich in culture and art, two aspects in life that I am strongly passionate about. Culture is imbedded in every person that walks this Earth and if I have the capacity to learn about the variety of cultures, I shall. I find it amazing how although we inhabit the same Earth each culture adopts different beliefs and lifestyles. Art resides in each culture and I enjoy witnessing the diversity of details in each piece and the infinite amount of culture flowing out of each one. My dream vacation would consist of educating myself about the culture and art of the one place where I am certain it will satisfy my curiosity: India. For about two years I have been growing more and more interested in learning about India. My goal in the future is to travel there and spend about a month journeying through out India learning about the different landmarks and the people who reside there. I have always wanted to experience walking the paths of India dressed in a saree with a...

Summer Vacation

...My Ideal Summer Vacation A warm and sunny afternoon last day, I was in a deep thought. I was thinking, if I would be given a chance to have a summer vacation without worrying about the expenses, maybe it could be my ideal one. This thought triggered me to ask myself, “What would be my ideal summer vacation looks like?” To start my visualization, I would like to spend it in a place afar from the noisy streets of the city. A place where the only sounds I can hear are the chirping of the birds, the waves crashing on the shore and the laughter of my family. In that place, the trees are dancing gracefully and flowers are waving gently with the wind. In the distance, the shore is filled with sand so white, crystal clear water and with porpoises on the sea side. On the top of the hill resides our home, a small bungalow type but filled with so much contentment and joy. Inside of it are simple things to suffice our needs. Upon entering the entrance door, you will see the clean and tidy living room, with a window on the right that offers a beautiful sight of the blue ocean. Beside our home, there stood a tall and old narra tree that gives us shade during the day. Flowers of different kinds and varieties grows around the yard abundantly. Then, I can see the endless sky above with shiny shimmering stars blinking at night and in the water, it seems the unreachable stars are within my grasp. In a distance, I can see the fire keeps burning from the bonfire we have made, and beside it,...

Family Vacation

...my family and I have saved for a vacation. We have a good sum in our vacation fund and after the past three years of working hard, we deserve some time to relax and enjoy each other. We all have two weeks off in September and are starting to look at where we want to go. Each of us has a place in mind, but no one is committed to any one place. Mainly we want to go somewhere that offers lots of activities to keep us busy, a place we can relax, and somewhere that will add to our family memories. I have researched several popular vacation locations and finally found Bora Bora, one of the islands in the French Polynesian chain, near Tahiti. Bora Bora has all the ingredients for a wonderful family vacation that we will remember the rest of our lives. Bora Bora is known as a popular exotic destination and will be a great location for our vacation. The main requirement for the place I want our family to go for our vacation is that it has a variety of activities so that we can all fill our time with fun. Of course, vacations are supposed to be relaxing, so wherever we go it should be a place that soothes the soul. Bora Bora has all the requirements but is not within our vacation budget, so I did further review on this travel destination in order to show my family this is a once in a lifetime vacation. To meet all of our vacation requirements, I knew the place would have to be tropical. I researched many places including Hawaii and Mexico. Vacations to either one of those places......
