• Software development can be a considerable part of a company’s software budget. Software may be developed in-house or outsourced. Outsourced development may be on shore or offshore. There have been heated debates on the best strategy of developing software. Take a strategic position on this debate. Create an argument for which method (in-house, onshore, and offshore software development) is the bestin terms of cost, security, reliability, and intellectual property protection. Support your response.

Offshore IT outsourcing is hot, and for good reason. The Meta Group reports that 80 percent of companies plan to outsource some IT function by 2003, and Dean Davidson, Meta’s Vice President of Service Management Strategies, says, “Outsourcing is a competitive necessity in the era of e-business.”

A recent Aberdeen Group study reports that large consulting and systems integration service suppliers in the United States and Europe are increasingly turning to offshore development and partnerships to lower delivery costs and gain access to diverse IT skill sets. Meanwhile, a growing number of midtier firms and technology and IT service suppliers now partner with offshore developers.

Lowered labor costs
The most obvious advantage of offshore outsourcing is the reduced cost of IT labor, although estimates of the net savings vary widely.

...that was given to ALS last week for flexible benefits strategies, are the main components that ensure attracting experienced and seasoned employees in ALS’s line of business. Performance is defined as, “A way to ensure that individual employees and teams know what is expected of them, and that they stay focused on the effective performance by paying attention to goals, measures, and assessment” (Cascio., 2013). Taking the definition of performance into consideration, a performance management plan is the blueprint guidelines that will support ALS’s strategic and operational goals to make the business successful. The first step in the performance management plan is to assess the employee aptitude and understanding of the limousine industry. When onboarding, each hired employee will take an assessment that will gauge his or her knowledge of the industry. Once an assessment for knowledge is completed, the training will be customized to meet individual needs to develop his or her experience. Focusing on appearance, customer service and satisfaction, increasing new and recurrent customer base, excellent interpersonal skills and communication, knowledge of customer base, knowledge of local area servicing, and scheduling and pickup will ensure a successful employee. The second step will be to initiate role-playing and the new employee to ride with a top employee to observe outstanding service. The employee will role-play two hours a day for four weeks. ...the faithful Daniel spent a night in the ferocious den of lions. However, the prophecies and predictions contained in the book had never been a topic of concern for me. The prophet Daniel completed his memoirs around 530 B.C. and is one of three books compiled during Israel’s Babylonian captivity . Many scholars have debated over the true date and authorship of the book due to its pinpoint accuracy when predicting future events. One of the most intriguing and heavily disputed passages pertains to the prophecy known as the “Seventy Sevens”. In this paper, Daniel’s Prophecy of Seventy Weeks will be exegetically interpreted with a focus on identifying the purpose of the prophecy, the starting time and event for the prophecy, the division of the weeks within the prophecy, and the details pertaining to the fulfillment of this prophecy. The Interpretive Method The prophecy of Seventy Weeks is recorded in the ninth chapter of Daniel, verses 24-27. These four verses are often considered to be the most difficult to understand text recorded in the book . To help understand the depth and meaning of this passage one can benefit from applying four key factors to their study; better know as the interpretive method. The interpretive method consists of four main principles; how the passage applied to the original audience, the differences between the original audience and the current one, the theological principle, and how those principles should be applied to Christians today . ...

...Week 1 ethics paper I would like to discuss Choice 2 for this ethics paper. A married couple who were both addicted to drugs, are unable to care for their infant daughter. She is taken from them by court order and placed in foster home. The years pass. She comes to regard her foster parents as her real parents. They love her as they would their own daughter. When the child is 9 years old, the natural parents, rehabilitated from drugs, begin court action to regain custody. The case is decided in their favor. The child is returned to them, against her will. Does ethics support the law in this case? I’m going to address this dilemma in two ways, Care-based and Ends-based. In my opinion, Care-based ethics supported the law in this case, but only in the favor of the biological parents. I say this because, as an extremely empathetic person, I have crossed paths with people who have had children taken away from them because of drug problems. They weren’t fortunate enough to get their children back, but as a parent I can imagine the sadness, guilt and helplessness these parents had to go through. Being addicted to drugs is not like a light switch, you can’t just stop on a flip of a switch. It takes hard work, belief in one’s self, money, support and perseverance, and even then an addict runs the risk of relapsing. After the parents lost their infant daughter who I believed they loved with all their hearts, the situation gave them the courage, strength and motivation to clean up......

...Weeks 1 and 2 Discussion Team B: Jonathan Baker, Jamie Barto, Jennifer Beatty, Carlos Gallagher, Jared Greiman University of Phoenix Applied Economics in Business ECO 415 Neal Johnson, Ph.D. November 14, 2011 Weeks 1 and 2 Discussion Team B focused the majority of our discussion around the concepts from week one including plant closings and the reasons behind them, supply, demand and price. We also discussed the different types of market types and understanding the differences. The discussions were focused around week one concepts and how to put them into practice. Plant Closings We focused our discussion around how managers can make the difficult decisions of laying people off. We discussed the business circumstances that can cause these unfortunate decisions. We found out what the government definition of unforeseeable emergency was by looking at the government website. It talked about the fact that this type of emergency cannot in any way be planned for (DOL, 2011). We also discussed if there was any correlation between how companies should report financial losses due to an unforeseeable emergency. We also discussed how laying people off may actually cost more money in unemployment benefits than actual salaries. Supply and Demand We all seemed a bit confused over the concept of the competition models. It seems that each of us struggle in our own ways but as we discussed the fact that they have multiple components makes it......

Week 4

...In week 1, my expectations were to build on what I already knew about the Sarbanes-Oxley Acts from work experience. My expectations were met and even exceeded my expectations. I came into the week with some unanswered questions and after the reading and discussion questions, they were answered. I had a broad understanding of the Sarbanes-Oxley from work experience and never got into the details, which this class allowed me to get into and really grasp what was put into the Acts and how to fully apply the Acts to real experience. Going into the week, I wasn’t really expecting much for budgets but by the end of the week I realized I didn’t know that much about the different kinds of budgets out there. It has helped me in my current positions because we do quite a bit of budgeting for some of our clients. My week 4 expectations were fairly low because of the audits I was a part of during my audit days. I do very little audit work nowadays but it was a great refresher to keep it fresh. Everything that I read during this week I knew and just reaffirmed my knowledge. We would split the audit up and my sections were the sections we covered during this week. When I first started auditing I had no accounting experience, I didn’t have any classes to fall back on. After the reading I felt really comfortable because I was performing the audits right and going into the audits with the right mind set and asking the right questions....
