Determining Who and Why
Learning Team B (LTB) had the responsibility of locating a job description online for a well-known organization. The following is a brief synopsis that will identify the chosen organization and present a job description from the organization’s website. The job description will include position details, job duties, performance standards, and job factors. The information provided will identify recruitment and selection methods consistent with the organization chosen. As a final point, the synopsis will include a concept map that summarizes the steps of recruiting and the selection criteria for an employee using the job description selected.
In 1975 William “Bill” Gates, a Harvard University drop out, founded Microsoft. Today the company is a leader in office products, wireless phones, and other entertainment devices. Microsoft has operational centers in Puerto Rico, Ireland, Singapore, and the United States of America. Approximately 10,000 employees globally work for Microsoft in areas ranging from entry-level positions extending to upper-level management (Facts about Microsoft, 2013). Microsoft is seeking an individual for a Business Services & Administration position in the Communication and Native Devices Team in the Office Client & Services (OCS) organization (Microsoft, 2013) in the Office Client Division.

The history of the world has been characterised by great human suffering. One can reflect upon horrific events such as the Holocaust and the Twin Towers tragedy and wonder how God, who is supposed to love everyone unconditionally, can permit such inhumane catastrophes to occur. The answer which theologians have provided is that God does not will for these sufferings to befall us, but is present in our suffering and “really suffers with all who suffer in this world” (Johnson, 2007, 61). The symbol of the cross, which Jesus was crucified on, serves to remind Christians that they are not alone in their agony. It is an image of comfort for those in pain, because it brings to mind the sacrifice God made for us in sending His son to intimately share in the world’s pain. Women’s conversational style is more towards developing rapport, providing support, or nurturing in such a way to show how they are attune to communication. This style is conducive towards promoting intimacy and the importance of relationships. On the other hand, men’s conversational style is more assertive, more indicative of independence and the maintenance of hierarchical relationships. This style is important in establishing and communicating the status of a person engaged in communication. Tannen’s views regarding these differences are shared by others. In “Bridging the Gender Gap,” Glaser points out that it is not the fact that men and women play by different rules, but that the problem lies in now knowing what the rules are (n.d.). Tannen noted in her article that differences in communication style for men and women are product of their socialization during childhood experiences. Glaser adds that in the workplace, men do not exclude women intentionally, but that it is men’s assertiveness that may make this perception. Men do not wait to be invited; they simply join in. ...The Who Before enrolling in American Popular Music, I had decent background on a fair amount of bands and artists we have talked about in class, including, but not limited to, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, and The Eagles. These artists are some of my Dad’s favorite, so therefore I learned a lot about them from him; however, he has never been a fan of The Who. Therefore, I was rather excited when I was assigned a research paper on The Who; a band who I really knew nothing about before American Popular Music. In the following paper, I will provide details about The Who’s individual band members’ lives, as well as information in relation to the band in general. The Who had four main members: Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, and Keith Moon. In addition to being the band’s guitarist, Pete Townshend took on the roll as the primary song writer. The most interesting fact I found about Townshend, is that he owns his own book publishing company. He actually published a book of his own called “Horse’s Neck” which consisted of a variety of short stories. Townshend has maintained a musical interest throughout his life, even after The Who broke up in 1983 (The Who Official Band Website).
